Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.

I like this place because its clean and quiet --- I did meet people (which was great) but not a party atmosphere where I couldn't sleep! Easy walking to anywhere you would want to go ! Just a great trip!

I booked a total of 5 days at this hostel and my experience was great for a hostel. It is clean, functional, has an elevator but above all, the location was great. It's in the middle of old town Stockholm aka Gamla Stan. The old town is beautiful with his medieval architecture.

Thank you for your great review! Happy to hear you enjoyed your stay and our facilities! I just want to correct one thing. We actually have 7 showers for 57 beds. They are situated on two different floors. That´s why you missed 3 of them I guess. Thank you for staying here :)

Location is the best thing about this hostel, smack bang in the middle of Gamla Stan - I consequently walked everywhere during my 3 days in Stockholm. Extremely clean, I took a private room which was small but comfortable, and the staff were helpful with all my needs. Not really

Although the total costs of a backpacker like this, still not a very good price. The location is fine with clean enough environment. However, I didn't expect there is no any amenities like, shampoo and shower gels. I have just stayed a night, so I could bear for it, anyway, it

OK, the King of Sweden was in next door, I could see the flag flying, but he didn't invite us in for tea. Well, that's the negative part of this report over! The rest is really positive. Staying in Gamla Stan (Old Town) near the parliament, the Royal Palace, the best museum in

Hi, just wondering if every bunk bed has an individual powerpoint? Thanks.
When I went in April there weren’t individual powerpoints for each bed, instead the plugs were dotted around the room for easier access for everyone! Hope this helps :)

Hi! Depending on if you arrive by Tallink or Viking Line you will either arrive at Stockholm Frihamnen or Stadsgården. From Frihamnen you take a bus and then change to metro. What bus to take depends on when you are arriving. From Stadsgården (Viking line) you can walk. It's maybe a 15-20 min walk. It's just one stop with the metro and you're already half way there when you're at the metro station Slussen. Check out times and buses here the SL website

Hi, You can either park close to Castanea (5-6 minutes walk) and pay around 200 SEK per 24 hours. That is in a garage at Slussen. Or you can park for 40 SEK per 24 hours at Telefonplan and take the Metro (takes about 15 minutes). Kind regards, Cecilia, Castanea Old Town Hostel
