4.5/5 As first timers in Sweden, Hotel Skeppsholem was truly a gem. First, the hotel & grounds are charming and exude the history of the place. Staff were beyond exceptional, friendly, and helpful - they were always a step ahead and their hard work and passion truly shine a light on the hotel. LOCATION: It's a weird dichotomy - on one hand the location is fantastic, on the other it's not great - it depends on what type of vacation you want to have and what activities you plan to do. During the day, the ferry terminal is a few steps away and will take you to Allmana Grand Ferry Terminal (Vasa Museum, Abba museum, Skansen, etc) and then onto Gamla Stan (old town) - they run on time but not late at night, so if you plan to stay out or go to bars, etc, you'll need to find another way back. There also is bus service to the hotel, but the stops and timetable are limited; if you want to go out in Soldermom, for example, you're out of luck. We went out for a late tour in Gamla Stan, had dinner, wandered across to Soldermom for a few drinks and then around 11pm we're shocked because we had to WALK BACK (30 or 40+ minutes). You just need to plan ahead. In the same vein, we had a early train on Sunday to Copenhagen and realized the night before that the first bus doesn't run until after ~9am, so we ended up WALKING to the train station (again, a 30 minute walk at 6am). There's also nothing around the hotel/on the island of Skeppsholmen, which is nice because it truly is peaceful, but if you want to go grab a bite to eat you're limited to the hotel restaurant (which is amazing, but is limited). Location is why I'm docking half a star. If you want more nightlife, or want to be immersed in the old town, then you should probably stay somewhere else. BONVOY: As platinum elite, we were upgraded and received a welcome gift. The breakfast buffet was amazing, and the coffee was even better. We arrived around 11am and couldn't check in yet, but they still allowed us freshen up in the bathrooms, store our luggage, and sit down and grab a cup of coffee while we got our bearings on our next step; the service and hospitality was amazing and we felt incredibly safe and well-taken care-of. ROOM/SERVICE: Our room was exquisite. We had a bonus "sun room" with live plants and a desk - the extra space was welcomed. The bathroom is small but had ample shelving for toiletries; nice bath robes to relax in after a hot shower. Bed was comfortable and TV had a few english channels. Housekeeping was quick to respond to extra pillow requests and desk agents were friendly, warm and wanted to help; they offered many great ideas and were helpful in planning travel. The food at breakfast and dinner was delicious - the best Swedish meatballs we had in Sweden. I honestly woke up every morning excited to grab a cup of their coffee and relax. TIPS: - Review the timetables closely for ferry and bus; if you're not a walker, you'll probably have to uber/taxi to get to the hotel - When taking the ferry, make sure to build in extra time for the two stops. - Bring and wear bug spray - we were eaten alive when we dined in the evening outdoors at the onsite restaurant and there were huge spiders in our room (in the sun room near the windows). I'm sure the spider situation is unique to our room; but better safe than sorry

Dear Guest, Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. I am thrilled to read that you enjoyed your stay with us. We fuses ancient with modern, our historical buildings from 1699 to our very Scandinavian interior. Stockholm are not a big city so all attractions are within walking distance where ever you stay. Stockholm are built on 14 islands and we are located on one of the smallest and greenest. We had a guest staying with us who said that staying with us is like living in a hotel in Central Park in NY. Thank you for staying with us and for your Bonvoy loyalty. Hope to welcome you back next time you visit our capital. Best, Joachim Managing Director

What a lovely hotel. We stayed 5 days and had the best time. Lovely minimalist rooms, very warm and comfortable with smart TV, Marshall speaker and lovely views. Our room was at the end of the second building with a view of the water and nice snowy surroundings. Great shower and the underfloor heating in the bathroom was very much appreciated! Breakfast was one of the best things, with hot and cold options, home made jams and delicious cured salmon. Nice warm atmosphere in the restaurant with candles lit. We had dinner a few nights too, the food was great. Nice touches with Valentine's Day sweets in our room and some welcome treats too. The hotel is within walking distance of the main attractions but we loved the quiet of the island at night. Definitely recommend

What a lovely hotel. Our whole experience from start to finish was superb. Pre booking enquiries were answered very promptly as were post booking questions, some within 10 mins of sending. Location is away from the hurly burly the city, on the waterside, but walking distance to the centre. There is the 65 bus from outside the Central Station to almost the front door of the hotel which is super convenient. A 3 minute walk from the hotel there's a ferry service to the next island which houses the fascinating Open Air museum and the Vasa ship museum among others. The ferry also stops at Gamla Stan, the old town so excellent transport links to the main attractions. Our room was lovely, clean, stylish and comfortable. An issue with the heating was addressed by a friendly handyman within 30 minutes. The buffet breakfast was delicious with a wide choice of tasty hot & cold food, breads, cakes, fruit (proper fresh fruit salad NOT from a tin!), juices etc Best scrambled eggs I've ever had in a hotel. The staff were all charming and helpful and clearly trained to a high standard. Highly recommended.

My partner and I had a long weekend here and wouldn't hesitate to return. From arrival to departure all staff were welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The buffet breakfast was superb with the emphasis on organic/eco-friendly produce. The hotel, with its waterfront views, was a mere two minutes walk from the bus stop (all electric buses) and an 8 minute transfer to the city centre. The hop on/off ferry terminal was three minutes walk away which with its very frequent service had connections to Skansen (museum central!) and the city centre. A wonderfully quiet location, superb staff and a lovely hotel. Highly recommended.

It was a fantastic hotel, with warm and helpful staff. The location is beutiful, it is incredible to be in basically in the center of a capital city and for it to be so quiet and picturesque. The breakfast was good, and the rooms were specious and clean. I would recommend this spot to anyone wanting a quiet getaway...in the heart of a capital city.

We decided on Hotel Skeppsholmen after research online and reading various reviews. We weren't disappointed. We were booking a New Year's Eve City break - our first - and were looking for something a little different from what the usual City Hotel brand names could offer. The Hotel's location is perfect - within easy reach of all the Stockholm highlights, yet located on the quiet central island of Skeppsholmen. It is a 15 minute walk to the centre of Town, alternatively there is a bus stop right outside the hotel (and the 65 bus is handy for transfer to the Central Station). Also there is a ferry stop just by the hotel with ferries every 10 minutes or so. It's a 5 min ride across to Djurgarden (for the ABBA Museum and Skansen) or a 10 min ride across to Slussen (for the Old Town and Royal Palace). The Hotel staff were all amazing - friendly and welcoming yet utterly professional. We opted for a Sea & Garden View room, and recommend this as the views are amazing. The room was very well kitted out with great facilities, the bed extremely comfortable and even the pillows were perfect. The in-house restaurant puts on an amazing spread for breakfast, and we had dinner here a couple of nights also. It specialises in modern Swedish cuisine, which is prepared and served to a very high standard. There are also lots of good restaurants in the old and new parts of the City so you won't be short of choices. We enjoyed our stay here enormously and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. One of the best hotels we have stayed at in our many years of travelling.

We stayed in mid December for 4 nights with snow on the ground and temperatures as low as -11C. Perfect winter weather. The hotel was very welcoming and the staff were extremely helpful. Our room was large, stylish and had a great view over the water. We had dinner in the hotel one night and the food was very tasty. The breakfast was excellent (special thanks to Hannah who looked after us so well at breakfast). We really loved the location which was beautiful and quiet and a short walk to the centre. We will be back.
