What a pleasant surprise! This hotel is excellently located in the heart of the City so that everything is within walking distance - shops, restaurants, malls, the Central bus & train station, trams, Airport bus stop and even a Regus office for traveling business people.

The Staff is very helpful and dedicated and speak fluent Engish as do most Swedes.

I loved the eccentricity of the decor especially the use of the candles for lighting. The restaurant on the top floor triples for a wide ranging breakfast buffet, relaxing lounging area and as a restaurant for night time dining and even dancing. There are live DJs who play great music. The food and drinks are hand crafted before your eyes and are super delicious.

On the downside, if you are like me and never heard of a 'wet room' before, please confirm if your room has an independent shower stall and toilet area, otherwise it's all in the same space which can become incovenient.

Otherwise the bedrooms are quaint and the beds are extremely comfortable.

Another thing to note is that there are no phones or coffee makers in the bedrooms, however there is a 24hr coffee barrista station on the ground floor with delicious coffee.

This is a unique boutique hotel with a distinctive charm. I'd definitely stay here again.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful building with high ceilings and huge windows. The ambience was very nice and the staff in reception and brakfest incredibly helpful.
Good breakfast, great location.
Very recomendable, I will go back.

We stayed for one night, got upgraded to a room with a bigger bed.
The room was spacious.
Bathroom had a shower and a little guest set of Molton Brown products.

We wasn’t disturbed much from the sound of traffic or any sounds.
Slept well. Used the fan we found in the room.

We didn’t got that good service in the evening at the terrace.
Terrace- A great place for a meal or to relax with a drink.
Waitress forgot to serve us the chocolate to our drinks. The red wine was to warm,
No water came with the red wine.
After one hour she served the chocolate with no notice my wine glass was empty. She rushed away.
Waited for some time hoped to order another glass but she didn’t came back to us in the corner. She was much talkative to the other guests.

Three guests came to late but got served anyway. I then walked after the waitress as I understood they already had taken the last order.
Told her I would like to order more wine to have with the chocolate.
She told me they were closed but could offer me wine to drink in my room.
Hmm, 2 minutes earlier the three got served.

She forgot the pralines.
Served them after one hour, hastily put them on our table.
Didn’t notice the wine glass was empty.
Didn’t come back to us to take a new order or gave us a chance to do a last order before closing down.

This was not that professional!

Anyhow,
We loved our stay at the hotel and will come back!

Stayed over New Year with wife and this is most probably stay number seven or eight so it is fair to say that we like it!
The room is as always very nice, cleaning is impeccable and the bed is very comfortable. Breakfast is still the best we have ever had and the location is perfect. New Year dinner was superb. The five course menu was cleverly thought out and service was very attentive and personal.
The only issues we encountered was an ice-cold bathroom that could not be heated enough and forgotten towels. But this will not deter us from coming back again.

Had visited the restaurant Atelier a number of times. So when we were planning 2 whole months of holiday in Europe, we definitely booked to stay at Pigalle in July. We booked last October. A Royale room with breakfast included - all very exciting. Then ... COVID-19. So we contacted Pigalle in late April to say we didn't think we could make it. Australia closed our border and said we couldn't leave. Qantas cancelled all flights. But no answer from Pigalle. Finally, on the day we were supposed to start our stay, they said NO REFUND.
Then they refused further correspondence. So they got $1,300 (which I paid in October 2019 in full) for providing absolutely no service whatsoever.
I can heartily recommend to fellow travellers that you view booking there with a level of caution, perhaps even trepidation. Becuase they do not care about "weak" excuses like your own government won't let you travel, and the airline you are flying with have grounded their fleet.

I feel like I should've read the reviews before and realise this was not my kind of place. I love boutique hotels but this was was really what I imagine a Swede's fantasy of a French hotel is, including bad air fresheners. We got a Petit Plus Double room, which basically is tiny, poor layout with heavy old Swedish encyclopedias taking space on shelves that could be used to stow away a suitcase. Very limited place to hang any clothes, no place to put one's shoes, the room was cold. Frankly a disappointment. And decorated in a miserable dark brown colour. The breakfast place was nice, and service was good and the lobby bar was lovely. But I would definitely not wish to stay here again, as value for money is very low.

This hotel was probably the wrong choice for us so it depends on your taste as to whether you will enjoy it. It is centrally located but currently there is a large building project directly opposite the best rooms which was very noisy all day. The first suite we tried had a loud air conditioning unit that couldn't be turned off. The decor is all quite dark which some might find romantic. The restaurant on the top floor has a limited menu. Breakfast had a good choice of items. One male member of staff on reception was really helpful and friendly which made all the difference for us.

It’s a lovey hotel. It is. The location is perhaps not the best but it’s so cute and original. As I work next door I always recommend Pigalle to colleagues and clients visiting Göteborg. That ends now.

Me and my wife decided to have a short romantic “home vacation”. After dinner and drinks we came back to a hotel room with sauna temperature. After inquiring at the night clerk we were informed that they had “some trouble with the air conditioning”. Now you tell us.. He promised to help. A short time later he delivered a fan heater (for heating rooms). Sure, it had an option using fan without heat but the air barely moved in front of it. And no other rooms were available.

We had to spend the night with windows open to Södra Hamngatan with traffic sound, all drunk people yelling and trams going right past the window. Needless to say, we didn’t sleep at all. The entire next day was ruined since we were trying to stick to our scheduled activities despite being totally exhausted.

The room was lovely and we enjoyed the breakfast but the main reason for using a hotel is to get a good nights sleep. We didn’t get that. I will continue to recommend the restaurant but will never recommend the hotel to anyone again. I’m also a bit baffled. This is not the quality I expect from the Ess Group.

Pigalle is a charming 1920s style boutique hotel in the heart of Goteborg, the perfect location from which to explore the city, and we spent 5 nights there.

We were a bit disappointed with the size of the rooms, which are tiny, and the bed, which was way too soft for our liking. Our room was also in the same corridor as the restaurant's pantry, which meant that the space always smelled of fish, and thus our room as well. But the worst part is that we couldn't control the a/c in the room, so we were constantly too hot, and even if we turned down the temperature, the a/c would eventually switch itself off during the night.

Also note that the one side of the hotel is on a main street and there is construction across the street, so it could be very noisy in summer. We were there in winter and there was no noise to speak of.

On the plus side, the staff are wonderful: always friendly and helpful, and the service is top-notch. The breakfast is excellent, with probably the best scrambled eggs I have ever tasted. However, the dinner menu is very limited, so we actually had to venture out for dinner, which is a pity. The bar snack menu is also very limited, perhaps french fries and a ham & cheese sandwich would be good additions.

I really would like to recommend this hotel, but the cramped rooms, the nasty smell, and the lack of control of the a/c prevents me from doing so.

First of all the interior of the hotel is beautiful and so unique, it’s like stepping back in time. The staff in the reception both at check in and check out was so professional and genuinely nice. What I absolutely love about the hotel is that you’ve got everything you need in the room for a comfortable stay. Such as mini bar , hair tools ( actually good ones ), hygiene kit, tooth brush etc, so no worries if you have forgotten like everything at home. This is what I call service as they have really thought about the guest, what they need but often forgotten at home :)
An extra plus is definitely that it is close to the central station.
