welcome inside It can happen that a guest walks in and thinks they have taken a wrong turn. There he stands, somewhat baffled by the absence of a reception desk which usually marks a kind of limit. He might even think that he has ended up in the wrong era and in the home of an eccentric lady from the previous century. A patron of the arts maybe, given that the place is teeming with artwork. However, he soon realises that this is quite real and now, maybe after catching sight of the business-suited men in the restaurant. Either that or the young people at the bar deep in conversation. Sometimes a guest, like the film director, falls so in love with a room (room 412) that he immediately decides to shoot his next film there. Or simply move in for good. Take the example of the entrepreneur who very seriously suggested that his company buy a part of the hotel to give their clients a special and completely unique experience. When asked what he meant by “special”, he answered: just like Thousand And One Nights, only for real. Allow us to introduce our hotel manager: Thomas Petersen. The best way to get to know him and his ideas, including those about the restaurant, is to read the information under the "Legacy" tab. In the course of his many trips through Europe with his father, Thomas Petersen grew to love their both serious and playful approach to fine dining. Also, at the most renowned restaurants there was an unpretentious joie de vivre based on the understanding that it is the guests who are all important! Not to mention the guests’ conversation. Drawn-out food presentations are not always essential. An unforgettable meal consists in equal measure of interesting conversation, joyful laughter, beautiful presentation and surprising ingredients.

Stayed for one night with a friend, and the hotel has an elegance and charm that reflects its heritage.
It is a child free hotel, and for me personally it is a great upside.
The room is as one would assume a hotel of this class would offer.

The breakfast is pretty good, you have the usual ingredients and the atmosphere is calm and charming.

We had a nice double room to the pedestrian area - really tastful interior and nice sized design-bathroom. We had another single room to the courtyard which was really small, but also very nice decorated. A real nice place a little away from the louder areas. No own parking, but public within 5mns walk. Drop off of luggage in front of the hotel is possible. Everything convenient, easy and not stressing!

Dorsia Hotel & Restaurant – theatrical glamour where you are treated like royalty!

Dorsia may be an exclusive boutique hotel, but it feels more like a palace as you could see on my attached photos. The storybook-style is really impressive!

Each room is different. Our cool room (no 303) was very well appointed and spacious, equipped with everything you could want and plenty of towels. Scrupulously clean and perhaps the most comfortable bed for any hotel I have visited!

The buffet breakfast was outstanding.

Having visited some of the Worlds' finest hotels, I can confidently say that Dorsia ranks among the greatest. Dorsia is member of “Small luxury hotels of the world” for a reason.

A huge congratulation to the whole team at Dorsia and keep up the hard work I know it is to keep a high service level like this!

Are you looking for a magic experience in Gothenburg – Dorsia is the one you are looking for. It is not cheap, but you get good value for money!

Highly recommended!

Regards
Svein-Magne Tunli from Bergen, Norway.

We reported that there were guests harassing women in the restaurant bathroom (the guests didn’t close the door while at toilet and got angry when we pointed out it was disgusting/rude/creepy). The guests in question may also have been drinking alcohol in the bathroom. The staff refused to control the situation and instead chose to ignore the fact without giving us an apology. We will not go back to this establishment until they take proper actions to prevent further incidents (separating bathrooms could be a good first step).

I had only come to visit the 'terrace bar' that I heard so much about....came to view the place on my own before I brought clients (20 American visitors over for their sons Gothia Cup tournament), to be told at 9:00pm that it was too busy...(fair enough, it looked busy downstairs)....but having went elsewhere, then came back and tried again at 11:00pm (where downstairs was relatively quiet), to be told it was still too busy...(bearing in mind, I'm on my own, not drunk, and dressed reasonably well) I got the distinct impression that the face didn't fit...which was incredibly disappointing and sad, for a Hotel that is trying to attract visitors from different countries...I for one, along with any of my clients, won't be wasting time trying to get into this establishment!😢

Meetings in Gothenburg and a recommendation, lucky us to get a table for 7.45! On entering the the door you are greeted by a bewildering array of decadence, it just is so different, the closest analogy I could make would be Batty Langley in London, from the giant straw pig to the nooks and crannies of tables placed in the many discrete rooms. We dined on the first floor overlooking the ground floor and then looked across through another room across the way through tiny windows.

The colours are deep and rich, a throwback into an opulent past, Madam Pompidou would not be out of place here! We chose the taster menu accompanied by champagne to celebrate the richness of our surroundings. The food was fantastic from the beautiful halibut carpaccio, second dish, to the amazing cod, we did not realise there were 9 dishes in all and we were so full after five courses we skipped skipped two to finish on a beautifully refreshing last desert.

This is also a 36 room hotel, which I did not know so next time in Gothenburg it will be my choice to stay and dine again!

If a reader finds themselves in Gothenburg then this is a must cross off my list of places to eat and possibly stay!

Our family of four had the tremendous fortune to find ourselves at Dorsia on a two week jaunt through Scandinavia. Tucked away unobtrusively on a quiet side street between the water and the major shopping district and within walking distance of the university and many restaurants and parks, its location, like absolutely everything about the place, is perfect.

From the moment you enter, you feel transported. Jazz plays at just the right volume; velvet upholstery feels opulent and elegant but not overdone. Guest rooms stick with a similar palate of purple hues and are a treat to behold with tasteful prints, thick towels, new flat-screen TVs that have wifi and solid, attractive furnishings. Strict minimalists will feel overwhelmed but should probably give in to their senses. Dorsia may strike them as a bordello -- but if so, a very high-class one that you'd be reluctant to leave. (Did I mention that the kids loved it? They did.)

Breakfast, alone, makes Dorsia worth visiting. Ample, beautiful, delicious, wholesome, the buffet is on our top three of all time, along with much larger hotels. Many types of fresh juice, a range of scrumptious pastry, cheeses, fruit, breads, jams, granolas, yogurts..... All to be consumed in the most beautiful sun-dappled room while seated on velvet banquettes. (It sounds like I'm making this up but it really is that good.)

Five minutes into our stay I realized I'd left a computer at our previous hotel, a charmless affair on the southern coast. Unable to communicate with the front desk clerk there who didn't speak English, I prevailed upon Hannah, the Dorsia employee who turned out to be a law student on summer holiday. After multiple conversations and emails to DHL and the sending party she got my bag delivered two days later. Tremendous service.

Finally, Gottenberg is a college town many hundreds of years old. Relatively unknown to Americans, it's beautiful and charming.
Chock full of history, art, scenery and great food.

Dorsia is the perfect perch from which to explore it. We're already contriving to go
back.

We just stayed for one night but are already planning the next trip to Gothenburg! This is a little gem of a hotel which just oozes charm and coolness without skipping really excellent service. From the moment we stepped through the velvet curtains into the lobby, we were transported to another world. The room was small but chic and provided the best night's sleep of anywhere I have ever stayed. The terrace bar for champagne cocktails was simply the best. Breakfast of kings and we found it hard to leave. Everyone who passes through the beautiful city of Gothenburg needs to find this place. It is a stone's throw from the shops, other bars and restaurants which the city can offer. Next time we visit, we will try the restaurant as they have one of the finest wine lists. Well done Dorsia, you are the best!!

We had a little trouble finding the hotel, but we're glad that we were staying here. The front desk staff was great in taking several calls to help us find our way. Then after we checked in very late and a little stressed, they got my girlfriend a class of wine, even though the bar had closed. We loved the funky vibe of the hotel, bar and restaurant and all of the staff are very friendly and helpful. We're really glad we stayed here on our visit to Gothenburg.

We visited this hotel with our 3 years daughter to have a cup of coffee in their restaurant. The staff told us that this is a ‘child free’ hotel and we therefore were not welcome! We will never come back here - even without children!! 🤬
