We stayed in Karolineburg Manor House on our way from Lemmenjoki to Valamo monastery. The place was a pleasant, outside the city but within a short walking distance of it. Just by the house was a bridge leading to the city and going over the ruins of Kajaani castle. House had nice, well functioning clean ensuite rooms. Small fridge with... More

Karolineburg Manor House Hotel is a small, old wooden house: there are only a few rooms but each room normally hosts several quests. Respectively this place is idea for families and groups of friends. Upper floor suites are particularly nice and the Baroque style furniture give rise to a special feeling. Breakfast is excellent and very spread. I warmly recommend... More

This very beautiful Manor House is in very good location! We had a room in other building, not in Manor House. Room was big, we had a sauna too! Main building is really beautiful, it's decorated with antique furniture. Staff is very helpful. Breakfast is very good!

The hotel consists of several building, I had a room for one night in the biggest one - old manor house. It was built in 1835 (if I recall it right), and renovated in 2012. Now it looks nicely, and owners spent a lot of money and attention to keep authentic walls, furniture, stairs, and all the house looking as... More

The old manor may be a fine old place to stay, but this room in a separate fifties build waiting a demolition -house was awful. Actually so bad that even after whole day's drive and tired at 11pm we left after seeing the room and seeked an other accommodation.

This hotel is made up of one large manor house and two outhouses which host around 3 rooms each. I stayed in one of the outhouses. First impression of the hotel when you enter from the road is not good - paint is peeling from the sign and it looks as though its been shut down. The whole place is... More

This hotel really is a former manor house and was formerly inhabited by the senior managers of the nearby paper mill which was the main industry in the town (now alas closed down). The room was gigantic with two bedrooms off to the sides, each with two twin beds...and of course a sauna. The hotel is on the far side... More

Since this manor hotel was about empty when we got there mid-June, we got a huge suite. Had we gotten the double-room we booked this etablishment would have been overpriced. Despite the glorious history it might have, the house is worn-down with a lot of faded luxury in its 1980's details and its crumbling paint off the immediate entrance facade.... More

“While the hotel states that there is free wi-fi, I read some reviews on booking.com saying that there was no wi-fi working. If you need it very much as I did, just ask it at the booking time, and the manager will make it happen. Probably, some rooms have poorer wi-fi reception than others, but I had very good experience with it.”
