Perfectly positioned near the water, senate square and downtown. Easy to walk to the places i wanted to visit in Helsinki. A medium sized boutique hotel. My room was well equipped with lots of outlets and good Wi-Fi. It was on a corner and somewhat dark. The bathroom was fine, did have to jiggle the toilet to stop it running and the shower in the bath was ok if not great. One day had the breakfast buffet in the elegant room at the back which was lovely. The cups in the room were very small so got a larger one from the breakfast room for coffee and tea in my room. The front desk staff were efficient.

Dear Mike, A warm thank you for the lovely review, and of course for having chosen us for your stay in Helsinki. We are thrilled to notice that your stay with us was pleasant. I have put a note to our maintenance to have a look at the toilet constantly running, I am sorry that this was not fixed prior to your stay. We do have some rooms that has a shower separate from the bath and rooms with a shower only. If you rather prefer a shower only and not a bathtub, please let us know for your next visit I am glad you managed to get some bigger coffee cups from our breakfast team. We truly hope that we would have the pleasure of welcoming you back here as our guest. Have a lovely spring time! Best regards, John Wasserfall Night Manager Hotel Haven

The Haven has probably the best location in the city: close to the charming harbour and open air pools; close to the city centre with all attractions and close to the shopping district.
The breakfast/dining room is facing the beautiful harbour with great views of Uspenski Cathedral and Allas Sea Pool (year round open fresh/sea water pools and sauna/spa). The standard rooms are spacious and in the bathrooms the guests find awesome products for shower/ body and hair. No need to take your owns. Highly recommend.

Our travel agent had booked us into the Hotel Haven and, at the time, we decided not to pay extra for a seaview room. On checking in the charming receptionist advised that an upgrade to a seaview room would cost €50 a night compared to the normal rate of €150 so we decided to take it. The room was utterly gorgeous; spacious, light and with a fantastic view of the harbour and sea. The beds were excellent and really comfortable. The staff at the hotel from checking in to the housekeeping and the breakfast and bar staff were helpful and efficient. The breakfast was delicious with a great variety of hot and cold food and a menu of special dishes (at extra cost). The staff in the dining room were excellent. The location of the hotel is wonderful, right on the harbour, and the dining room is in a beautiful old house overlooking the sea. We also ate at Sue Ellens, a restaurant run by the hotel. The food and service were exceptional. We had a memorable 3 night stay. Thank you.

A nice hotel conveniently located with big rooms, no qualms about that.

But for a five-star hotel, it is severely lacking in quality and service. For a hotel of this class, I expect:
* towels without holes in them
* clean rooms (I know, black furniture shows every speck of dust but it also shows where it was NOT cleaned)
* carpets that are not coming undone at the edges and cause a trip hazard
* toilet seats that are firmly affixed to the toilet

But most of all, I do expect that when I report these issues, they are promptly fixed and addressed. To be fair though, the carpet was tidied up and only one towel had a hole in it, so I guess two out of four ain't bad.

Service at the front desk is efficient yet devoid of any warmth, perhaps as a direct result of the typical Finnish demeanour. No enquiry on whether you enjoyed your stay on check out or if there is anything they can help with. Nothing, nada, niente. There are other, equally convenient hotels in the area that offer better standard and service at a lower price.

Dear Wimster70, Thank you for your honest feedback, and for providing such specific improvement points for us to address. You are absolutely right - none of these issues should not be met when visiting our property. We aim to not have any such problems in our rooms, but it seems we have fallen short in this premise. We will review your feedback with the Housekeeping Manager in order to understand how to avoid such inconvenient incidents in the future. If you would like to elaborate with the toilet seat issue along with your room number, we would love to hear what the exact issues has been in order to fix it. Also, if you are ever back in Helsinki, we would like to offer you a discounted stay in order to prove you that we listen to our guests and are eager to learn from our mistakes. Most of all, we would like to make amends for the certain lack of empathy during your last visit, which frankly does not meet our standards. You may contact our Front Office Manager, Heidi Tarilo directly in her email address: heidi.tarilo@hotelhaven.fi. With kind regards, Santtu Ahola Duty Manager

This hotel was one of the last ones to open after the closure because of the corona pandemic.

There was a lucrative opening offer: every room for 220 euros including a bottle of champagne and room service breakfast. This offer was not prepaid.

I booked a Grand Deluxe Harbor View room. The standard flexible rate including breakfast would have been 374 euros.

The view from the top 8th-floor room was very panoramic. However, the room decor was a little bit shabby and outdated. The sofa was strangely placed. You couldn't watch the television from it. Also, the shower was in the bathtub.

In my opinion, Grand Deluxe rooms without views have better interiors. I wouldn't pay the 90 euros difference just for the views.

The room service breakfast was good but needed a little bit of arrangement as the sofa table was so small.

The overall value of our stay was excellent.

Dear Mikael F, Thank you for having stayed with us and for taking time to review us here. I am happy to see your stay with us was very pleasant. Thank you for the comments as well, we will have a look at the placing of the furniture in the 8th floor harbor view rooms and see if we can arrange them better. We do have rooms with three different kinds of bathrooms - one is with bathtub and shower over it, one with shower only and one with a walk-in-shower and bathtub next to each other. We are always happy to appoint a room with whichever works best for the guest. Hopefully we'll get to welcome you back soon! Best regards, Heidi Tarilo Front Office Manager

Exceptional service from check in to to check out. On crutches when I checked in and while waiting for partner to park the car the receptions came over and showed a map of hotel and told me about another lift from my room and to breakfast. 20 % discount when parking your car at nearby parking garage. Room on the 5th floor had a peak to the water. Great size and a great touch was that sheet was replaced by one big one instead of 2 so the bed felt more like a doublebed. Would liked to have been able to open the windows for some fresh air. For breakfast there is all your heart can desire.

Finally we booked a table for Friday afternoon Tea at Haven Hotel. The dining room of the restaurant is a very fine space, altough the setting looked more like a hotel breakfast rather than afternoon tea, which was a pity, as it affected the overall atmosphere of the evening.

There are three options for the afternoon tea: the basic one, with a glass of champagne and the variety of cocktails designed to pair with the food. We went with the cocktail menu (60€) and found the cocktails very interesting and rather tasty. Menus (both food and cocktails) change weekly if I understood correctly.

The afternoon tea setting was for two hours (4.15 pm to 6.15 pm) and we were a bit surprised as it took the whole two hours for us to finish the tea: the setting wasn't fully booked, there were several tables vacant in the dining room that evening. Still the service was a bit slow because we had to wait for the cocktails to arrive as they didn't serve them all at once (for obvious reasons). Nevertheless the food was excellent and that's worth the 4 stars I've given for the evening. The tray was full of tasty, high-quality bites that combined beautifully with the cocktails and the tea. Especially loved the orange-cranberry scones served to us that day.

Sometimes these afternoon tea menus can leave one a bit hungry (or not entirely stuffed, more likely) but this one had certainly enough on it's plate! So I can definitely recommend to try Hotel Haven's Afternoon Tea, I'll also come again myself!

We stayed here for one night and were left with slightly mixed feelings after expecting a 5-star experience (such as in Kämp or St George). The check-in process was smooth and possible to do in advance. The staff encounters were positive, especially at the breakfast, there was a gentleman who made us feel welcome and appreciated. The breakfast was of high quality with some very tasty and unique offerings. Also the restaurant facilities were sympathetic and cozy. The room was pretty ok in terms of size and especially the roof height was great. It seemed as if the room was already slightly torn and showed signs of age and details not expected from a 5-star spot such as old dirt between the tiles, shower/bide handles of a cheaper sort/not matching, tilted lamp shades etc. Those may be fully irrelevant details to others, but something that stand out for a visitor paying attention to details. The corridor (rooms starting with 200's in the far end of the hotel) did have a strong smell of mold and was unpleasant. There were scented sticks on the corridor, but they did not cover the clear smell of wet structures. That is obviously more of an issue with the building and not the service/amenities level as such, but contributed to the customer experience. Overall, with some more attention to the details and the health of the building, the hotel part of Haven would surely match the settings of the beautiful bar and the cozy restaurant.

My wife and I popped in for some champagne before dinner a few minutes away. A very good champagne menu at decent prices, along with one of the best (if not the best) whisky and rum selections I have seen in Helsinki. The bar is cosy and polished and we enjoyed the seats near the large (gas) fireplace, particularly given it was a chilly December night.

I made a booking for a Prime Superior room from a sale. The price was 143 euros. The rate was flexible and included breakfast.

I aimed for the next room category Grand Deluxe because of my Nordic Choice Platinum status. However, we got a double upgrade to a Grand Deluxe Harbour Seaview room with a normal price of 344 euros.

To our surprise, we got exactly the same room #807 where we stayed last time in August.

Luckily the placement of the sofa had been changed to a more convenient position. But the small round sofa table had been disappeared. It would have been needed to put cups and glasses somewhere while sitting on the sofa.

The views were exceptionally beautiful this time and compensated for this small impracticality.

The breakfast was pleasantly calm. It is served in a historical building next to the hotel.

If you contact Hotel Haven, if they do a booking for you, it’s a guaranteed fixed Airport to H.Haven rate of 39 Euros. (We did catch the airport train - 10 Euros pp which has excellent access for people with disabilities), however the short walk from the station has some cobblestones to cover which is not helpful for people with disabilities. Honestly, we were x 2 people travelling with a lot of luggage, so the taxi service was excellent booked by Haven...or indeed Finnair.

Yes they have a laundry service but as is the case with most hotels, they charge per item unlike a laundromat where you can just do a full load of washing for a set price.
