Hotel St George in Helsinki is in a great central location - facing a park square, but also just a few minutes walk from the main city centre. It is luxurious with everything was just as it should be.

I had a studio room and it was modern, spacious and clean. High ceilings, nice desk space and big bathroom, alongside some extra bonuses like a TV that was built into the wall and clever lighting too.

The way that breakfast was served took a bit of getting used to - bread is brought to your table then you have to go and collect food from buffet area or chef station. The food was nicely prepared though and well worth getting up for!

Hotel required a 'damage deposit' to be paid on check in and this was held in Euros on my credit card. A bit inconvenient and a bit surprising as I was staying with work, but there were no problems with getting this returned on check out.

More expensive than other Helsinki city centre hotels that I have stayed in, but it was a good stay and I hope I can stay again one day.

Overall, I liked the St. George. The design aesthetic is understated and clean but polished. The common facilities like the bar and cafe are very nice, if a bit on the small side.

I wasn't as enthusiastic about the room design. My room opened directly off the hallway into the bedroom - which was not pleasant. It is possible that I just had the bad luck to get one with this configuration. Also, the bathroom has an automatic light that comes on as you walk in. This was not a welcome feature during late night bathroom visits however and does not appear to be something that can be turned off. Also, no convenient place/rack for luggage. Lastly, the CO2 cartridge in the sparking water machine in my room was spent. I could have called down for one but didn't have time to chase something small and it is really the staff's job to ensure that it is working before the guest checks in. These are mostly minor gripes with what is a good hotel but they do hold it back from being considered a great one.

Dear GlobalTravelNut, Many thanks for taking the time to share your experience with fellow travellers. I am ver happy to hear that you have enjoyed your stay overall. Thank you for your comments regarding the room design. We have many different room categories and layouts, please let us know your preferences prior to your next visit, and we will do our best to accommodate your wishes. Thank you also for your comment about the CO2-cartridge being empty in your room. I am sorry that our testing routine has failed. The Soda Stream appliance does unfortunately not have an indicator for the CO2 level. We will discuss this further to see how we can improve our routine. In spite of these gripes I hope you got some nice experinces and impressions to take home. I wish you warmly welcome back to Hotel St. George and Helsinki. Yours sincerely, Roni Huttunen General Manager Hotl St. George

Tranquil first time stay at St. George hotel. We booked a staycation with a friend from St. George and I was delighted to arrive there after a busy workday and find the lobby quiet and staff very helpful and welcoming. The reception desk is situated on the second floor, so the lobby isn't of typical grandeur but checking in and seeing the rest of the hotel's areas, restaurant and the comfy bakery café, it comes together quite nicely.

We stayed there on a Monday evening so I suppose a part of the peacefulness was due to that the hotel wasn't nearly fully-booked. Still it was nice that the bakery was open quite late on Monday so if you're not up to a stroll you can enjoy a bistro-style 3 course menu there for about 35 euros. We only had salad (and champagne!) but I'm interested in trying the menu also someday!

The spa closes quite early: on Mondays at 7pm and other days on 8pm. They have an age limit, so this pool and saunas aren't suitable for families with little children, but it was very nice and peaceful place for adults to enjoy. So points for that!

The room we had was spacious with two 140cm beds and tidy bathroom. It's what you'd expect from a hotel like this and also the were some nice touches, like the Soda stream on a cupboard and a couple of classic books on a shelf.

For me the best part had to be the breakfast. It isn't too large in choices of food but everything was carefully thought and well-prepared. Beverages were served to the table and I could find everything I want to eat on a hotel breakfast: omelettes, fresh orange juice, charcuteries, fresh vegetables, over night simmered oat porridge and something for my sweet tooth. The brownie was amazing and also the white bread tasted very good. Again the service was very nice and we didn't have to wait for too long, as they booked a table for us at the time we wanted to go for a breakfast.

This is one of the most expensive hotels in Helsinki. However, I feel that compared to many other hotels in Helsinki, St. George is a good value for money both in facilities and service. Will come again!

Helsinki has two real luxury hotels: Kämp and St George. Kämp is more traditional and St George is modern with Scandinavian decor.

If I counted right, this was our 6th stay at this hotel. We have been in the Atelier Balcony room and in three suites: Church Park, Finlandia, and Coupole Suites.

This time, we booked a Companion Twin room from a sale (-40%) for Finnair Plus members. The price was 204 euros. The rate was flexible and included breakfast. Because of my Nordic Choice Platinum status, we were upgraded to an Atelier room. These rooms are facing to Church Park and have a bathtub. Notice that all Atelier Balcony rooms don't have park views.

Our room on the 4th floor was spacious and had a very high ceiling. One small table would have been practical to have. If sitting in an armchair, you had no place to put your glass. The nightstand was too high and the writing desk could only be slightly moved because it had a short power cord attached to the floor.

The bathroom was spacious. Actually, the bathroom has been quite the same in every room we have stayed. There were a separate shower and tub which is always nice. A bathtub can be found from Atelier rooms upward.

The breakfast was pleasantly calm this time. The food selection is not the widest but of very good quality. Coffee, juice, and bread are brought to the table.

The stylish Wintergarden bar with excellent service has always been our favorite place to spend time.

The reception staff was very friendly.

We stayed here one night Feb 2020. We were a group of 8 traveling together. We choose to have to hotel pick us up at the airport and drive us straight to the hotel. The charge was 130 euros for all of us. We thought this was a great option after 17 hours of traveling. The lady was waiting at baggage claim for us, it was about 30 or so minute drive. We got there around noon, all of our rooms were available, which was also very appreciated after traveling for so long.

My husband is a titanium elite for life member. We were told our room was upgraded due to this. It was a great room, we did not go to our friends room. All we could figure is it was more square footage. It had a comfortable king bed, mini bar, robes, very spacious bathroom.

Location was very convenient. We walked to Löyly in about 30 minutes. Several bars and restaurants right outside the door. Several people from our group got coffee and pastries from the bake shop attached to the hotel and said it was delicious.

The next day we were able to store our luggage for free until we caught a night train. They also let us use umbrellas the whole day.

I would like to thank the St. George Hotel and staff for a great wedding weekend.

I spent the night before my wedding with my maid of honor in the Companion Twin Room, which was like made for this situation. The room was spacious and airy and the bathroom was just so big that the two women could fit well there at the same time. In addition, the room had a good setting for make-up work, as the room was flooded with plenty of natural light. In addition, we had been brought an extra high chair to make it easier to disguise.

Due to the prevailing corona situation, our actual wedding celebrations were postponed, but the St. George's Finlandia Suite provided us with a wonderful setting for a small reception after dinner. We ordered small delicious snacks and drinks from the hotel in the room, which were waiting for us ready and tastefully arranged when we arrived at the hotel. The evening was really successful and the service played great
.
We spent two nights in Finlandia Suite and enjoyed the room immensely. The room consisted of a bedroom and a living room and had a separate toilet and bathroom. This was a really big plus when we had guests and more users of the sanitary facilities.

I can warmly recommend this concept to every bride and wedding couple. Thank you St. George for making our wedding weekend a memorable and successful one❤️

This was our second time in the Church Park Suite which is the least expensive of the five different suites at this hotel.

As a summer sale (-50% for 3 nights) the price was just 255 euros per night, approximately the same as the smallest Cozy Studio with flexible rate including breakfast. Our rate was also flexible and included breakfast.

The suites have complimentary minibar (with champagne etc.) and room service breakfast.

On the first morning, we had a room service breakfast. It was good but the restaurant breakfast was better and more comfortable to have, at least on the third morning when it was not so crowded.

As a Nordic Choice Platinum member, I got 3 x 13 euros restaurant vouchers which could be easily used at the St George Bakery located under our suite. Restaurant Andrea had only breakfast service during our stay.

Wintergarden Bar was open for Friday and Saturday evenings. It is a very stylish bar with excellent service and stunning specialty cocktails.

The staff was very friendly everywhere.

Hotel is great but we were hugely disappointed that the breakfast was not included considering that we paid 265.- Euros per room per night (we had two rooms). We tried to ask the receptionist if there was any way that we could have had the breakfast included in the price as if we had booked the hotel room a day before it would have been 100.- euros less per room! She said no. We were surprised and disappointed that there was no flexibility from the hotel side to negotiate.

Hotel is in great location. It has overly scandinavian design, everything is light, plain and simple.
Breakfast is average. With the price you would expect more variance and specialities but it felt like any 3 star hotel breakfast

Dear kaaputin, Many thanks for staying with us and sharing your experience. I am very happy to hear that you have enjoyed most parts of your stay. Thank you for mentioning our breakfast selection. We will look at additions and variation based on your comment. Our philosophy is to offer a curated selection of high quality dishes, prepared in-house. Our specialties include freshly baked bread and pastries from our own bakery, house-made Turkish yoghurt, quark, jams and granola. Freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee and tea is served at the table. Warm dishes include boiled eggs, omelette, overnight cooked porridge and spicy sausages. We took advantage of the Summer Staycation offer for our wedding anniversary. Having eaten in the restaurant and had drinks in the Wintergarden before we knew what to expect from this beautiful design hotel and we weren’t disappointed. The staff are all polite and efficient and the drinks (cocktails to die for) and food (we ate breakfast and bowls from the bakery) are excellent. Our room was clean, with a luxurious feel. In the evening after swimming and taking a sauna in the spa, we borrowed two bikes from the hotel and took a lovely 4km bike ride around the city. The only disappointment were the wall to wall carpets in the corridors to the rooms and in the lift areas. They looked a bit stained and give the whole area a funny smell. Better to rip them up and put down a nice wooden/parquet floors with rugs to muffle the sound. This would be much more hygienic and better looking.

The breakfast is good but not ‘over the top’. The dining area is nothing special and service can get overwhelmed. If you are looking for something ‘special’ then elsewhere is my view. However, the choice and quality of food/cooking is good for this type of hotel.
