This hostel outside Akureyri has a big breakfast room, coffee and tea in this room are offered for free, so that it also functions as a lounge. Dart playing available in a room nearby, which allows to access a terrace from which one can also see polar lights when permitted by weather conditions. Good internet (which does not seem to be given for granted in Iceland). In the room: no water kettle, no fridge, no iron/iron board, no safe, no hairdryer, no toiletries except hand soap. TV. Furniture is very basic, pillows/duvet are good, beds are small (90x180cms ca.). No possibility to charge your mobile phone in the room, only in the bathroom, unless you have a cable with entry point usb mini instead of the classic usb plug. The luggage bank is very small. No eating facilities nearby. Breakfast starts at 7am.

Over the last 25 years I have as a tour leader stayed at the Sveinbjarnargerði possibly 40 times with foreign groups. Now there are new owners, but the family feeling quality still prevails. GREAT food. Views over the fjord is second to none. To see the midnight sun in June, july from the patio is a unique experience. The adjacent Safnasafnið museum is second to none with their varied and often humorus exhibits.
The property is strategically located and the trip to Akureyri town is about fifteen minutes.

The hotel is located on the other side of th Fjord from town of Akureyre. Beautiful and peaceful setting. Next door to a farm. Owner, Siggi, was very friendly and helpful. Great sense of humor. Breakfast was very good. Coffee, tea available all times. Room was comfortable. Outdoor hot tub fed by hot mountain water was therapeutic and felt wonderful. Views from the property were outstanding. Would stay here again. Very friendly cat named Muder visits from nearby chicken farm.

Stayed here in the height of summer 2021 and it's impossible to overrate it.

We arrived late after a long drive north - including over the Oxi in a 1l Hyundai (not recommended) and it was an oasis of peace, rest and tranquility.

The room was large, comfortable and spotlessly clean with great wifi. The new hot tub looks out over the Fjord and an evening sat there, alone watching the midnight sun drift across the mouth of the Fjord was almost mythical in its serenity.

The sauna was great, the staff - and owner - wonderful, friendly, welcoming and helpful, the breakfast delicious and the various animals lovely.

You should stay here, I will again.

Awesome hotel! Incredible chef! If you want a sampling of traditional Icelandic food, her buffet is not to be missed-from appetizers to desserts. Rooms are very clean and staff is wonderful. The owner, Siggi, has a great sense of humor.

Set across the fjord with a great view of Akureyri. it's a short drive to the town. The owner was very friendly and offered explanations about the area, Iceland, farming, and others. The room is simple and clean. The breakfast was good. There is nothing to do there in the evening, as a 10-minute drive is required into town. There is a natural hot water tub outside that we used with beautiful views.
