Edda served us well, more of a 3.5 stars place if I was allowed to give half stars. Clean and spacious, the rooms lack many amenities but are comfortable and get the job done. For some reason, there are no blackout blinds to go along with the curtains, so you’ll need sleep masks here. We stayed on the newer side of the hotel which I’ve read is markedly different than the old side.

The town center is an easy downhill stroll and Akureyri itself has a great vibe. Edda also has a nice little bar onsite. We did not eat there because several places in town serve a great breakfast.

The staff essentially ignores you, but they proved quite helpful when we needed a few things. One interesting thing that caught our eye was the army of very young room cleaning girls each morning. I’ve never seen anything like it.

As others have mentioned, this hotel is a student dormitory during school term that is repuposed as a hotel during the summer. Our room was very large and furnished simply with beds, desks, chairs and kitchenette. A very good brekfast buffet was available. The location is a short walk into the town center where there are resturants and a few shops. A few things were missing from the room such as TV, facial tissue, hair conditioner, spare pillows, etc. The so-called "bar" area was very small and uninviting. There are few other facilities. On the plus side, the wifi worked great and the room was clean and comfortable.

This hotel is a student dorm that becomes a hotel in the summer. The room was spacious with plenty of closet space and comfortable beds, but very austere. You need to ask for a hairdryer. The buffet breakfast was OK but it took forever to get checked off the list and the room was very crowded.

It's a fairly short walk to town, but the walk back is all uphill. Don't miss the amazing botanic gardens which is adjacent to the hotel.

Booked a room for 2 adults and 1 child. Got a room with 1 double bed and a very uncomfortable and thin mattress on the floor. The temperature in the room was very high and uncomfortable but the desk could do nothing about it. We stayed two nights and had trouble sleeping, sweating in the heat and tossing and turning on he uncomfortable mattress on the floor. For two days the elevator was broken, and we had to walk up and down from 6th floor. Breakfast was just about ok, nothing more than that. Overall a very disappointing stay and not worth the money. Had I known any of this in advance I would have booked a room at another hotel.

My husband, teenage daughter, and I enjoyed staying one night in a triple (a queen bed and a twin bed) with a private bath. This modern hotel with a Scandanavian feel is centrally located, including close to the beautiful Botanical Garden and the harbour area. The room is large, clean and well appointed. There's plenty of room in the closets as well. The bathroom was good sized as well. The breakfast was a combination of hot and cold dishes, so we filled up until dinner. The hotel was packed with tour groups, but it was quiet at night. The hotel staff was helpful and courteous. When we needed to arrange for a reimbursement of our cancelled whale watch due to bad weather, the hotel manager graciously placed the call to the company and explained to them in Icelandic what our inquiry was about (we received the reimbursement).

Good hotel
The bar at the reception has seats inside and outside and it was always almost empty.
The breakfast is very good, buffet has wide choice but beware the hotel is big and at the start of the breakfast there is a queue for about 20 minutes. So you either come 10 min earlier or in 20 minutes.
Clean and spacious enough rooms. Some with basins, some - without.
I guess there are en-suite bathrooms as well, but we stayed in rooms with shared facilities done the corridor.
Different floors have different capacity and sometimes their is a queue.
Location is very convenient - about 10 minutes walk to the centre of the city.
Plenty of free parking on site.

Booked a room for one night and the first thing we noticed was a big stain on the floor, we contacted the reception and the sad the would clean it while we where our to diner. They did not clean all the floor just the big stain. The morning after I opened one of the dresser and was filthy. Yes we did get a small discount but with the COVID-19 I feel they really should do better.

Located a little ways from the main roads is this nice full service hotel. There are two parts to this hotel. The older section is with shared bath and the newer building with private bathrooms. I stayed in the older part and I was satisfied with both the room and the toilet and shower facilities., The rooms are reasonably priced. The 24 hour staff is nice and helpful. It is easily accessible for handicapped people, There is adequate parking lot. The breakfast is very good. An added plus is the very good Akureyi Botanical Gardens located on the far end of the parking lot,

Stayed in the old part of building.
Terrible cleaning off the room. Big chunks of dust on the floor, and they dont clean under the beds..
We contacted the desk downstairs, and someone came and "cleaned" the room..
When we got back inn, the dust and a recipt were still on the floor under the bed..

Pluss you hear everything that goes on out in the hallways.
And the bathroom is small and in the 70s look.

We spent 2 nights at Hótel Edda in Akureyri. The room was on the 5th floor with beautiful view over the trees and the bay. We added breakfast, which was a buffet with a lot of items to choose from. Staff is nice and friendly. We booked a room with private bathrooms and had plenty of space.

I just came back from there. Yes, kettle and hair dryer can be borrowed. yes, luggage service is provided. In addition, I want to say it is really a lovely hotel. Maybe it is converted from a school hostel, the room is so neat, tidy, and comfortable in a simple way. The Internet connection is fast, even faster than my home. I lived in ensuite room, but I also take a look at the shared bathroom. They are in very good condition. Large and clean. I like Akureyri, the people are nicer there. When I am in Reyjkavik, I feel the local people a little bit cool, seems they don't welcome tourist. But the people in Akureyri, they are more helpful and friendly. Spend a few days in Akureyri, it is absolutely a nice place.
