Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My room in the guesthouse was on the third floor and was spacious and clean. My room did not have a private bathroom, so I had use of two shared bathrooms at the end of the corridor. The shower doors on the showers in both bathrooms were broken, the doors were basically hanging off their hinges, one was so bad the shower was unusable, the other one broken enough for the door not to close, so water leaked onto floor. There was a hole in the ceiling above the shower in one bathroom. There were very few places available in Akureyri, so prices were inflated and for £123 per night, this accommodation was appalling. I was staying 2 more nights on my return to Akureyri and had unfortunately paid in advance on a non-refundable rate, thankfully only £65 per night this time. I spoke to one of the owners on my return to the property and showed her the photos of the broken showers and hole in the ceiling to give them a chance to fix things before submitting a review. She said she would get her husband to look at it, but when I left 2 days later, the bathrooms were still in the same appalling state, I can only assume they are not really interested in fixing these issues. The owner seemed shocked at the state of the bathrooms when I showed her the photos, but there is no excuse for the owners not to know about this, even if other guests did not report it, what about the cleaning staff, what about the owners inspecting their own premises once in a while? I was given a room on the second floor for my second stay and the bathrooms on this floor were okay, at least the shower doors were not broken. But the fact that nothing was done to fix the broken showers after I had reported the problem, suggests to me that the owners do not really care about their guests and therefore I would not recommend this place and I would not stay again.

We only visited Akureyri for 2 nights but this Guesthouse was in an excellent location, all attractions were within walking distance and you had restaurants and bars literally at your door. The room was quite large and we had a private bathroom which was good. There is a large common room on the 4th floor that is fully equipped and has all you need to cook meals and relax. It was a good place to stay, only downside was no lift and no air-conditioning so the room was quite warm.

Room not properly cleaned, staines on night stand and food residue in the drawer.Holes in bed sheet, shared bathroom unbelievably dirty. Much noise from the street so sleeping was not possible. Homeless person slept on the couch in front of the reception, which was closed. Will certainly never stay there again.

Fire alarm went on few times a day and owner wouldnt let securitas in the house to fix it. You can hear everything between rooms and toilet was leaking. Bad service and no staff to be seen to empty trash cans and fill on toilet paper. Beds Ok but everything looks like from a 2 hand store

It was a huge pity that arrived so late in the night, and had to get up around 6.30 to get my transfer to the East. But it was relaxing to find such a nice room. Almost a suite indeed because of the size! And the views to the real and quiet Icelandic snow... in such a magical town like Akureyri was definitely worth it. Also the small distance ( just 5 minutes walking ) to the bus station.

Solo trip for one day to Akureyri The room was well panned and the bed fine but there was noise from other rooms that kept me up. There is a security alarm on each door that people were setting of during the night that was annoying

Start with location, it is fantastic, down town beautiful Akureyri, we stayed on forth floor facing to the street, the room was spacious, the beds very comfortable, also the pillows and also the duvet. This is a simple accommodation but very good value. The only downsize is the noise from the street and the bar below but that is not the Hotel fault.
