Thé best place I ever stayed while in Iceland. The view is to die for. Peaceful and quiet. An amazing staff always so helpful ( thank you for being so nice on our late arrival after being snowed in the moutains )and the hot tub facing the lake is a must. And so close to Husavik it’s tops. We have been traveling around Iceland and it’s the nicest and coquets place we stayed at. We will come back !

We loved staying in our cottage on the water! Gorgeous views right from our porch, cozy living space and comfortable beds, all just a km from beautiful Husavik with its famous whale watching tours and an easy drive to popular sites like Godafoss, Dettifoss and Selfoss waterfalls and more. Also perfect viewing for auroras! We definitely recommend you spring for the breakfast basket filled with fresh, delicious breakfast favorites, delivered right to your door. Our hosts were welcoming and attentive and obviously take pride in the property. Side note for Fire Saga fans…make sure you visit filming sites throughout Husavik including one right near the cottages, and the little bar, Ja Ja Ding Dong which has a fun museum dedicated to the movie and Eurovision Song Contest. Whatever your reason for visiting the area, we highly recommend Kaldbaks-kot Cottages!

More than the comforts of home in our cute cottage, was it the warm welcome and smile from Elena that made this one of the nicest stays we’ve ever had? Was it the hand delivered breakfast basket with such thoughtfulness in the food chosen, wrapped up in warm dish towels? Or was it the hand written note that made us feel so welcomed. All of the above I’d say. Thank you!

Beautiful remote cottage on the Arctic Ocean. Our cabin was beautiful, two bedrooms, very clean, with a lovely little kitchen with all the essentials. The breakfast that delivered was more than enough for a couple days brought to us by a picturesque basket placed on the porch. The sunsets from the porch over the ocean or spectacular. I managed to even get an arctic char fishing in the pond in front, which I cooked for dinner one night. The location is amazing close to geosea spa, whale, watching and horseback riding at Saltvik. What an incredible place something out of the fairytale highly recommend this.

We loved our stay in a two bedroom cottage for two nights. The cottages are very nicely designed and decorated and the kitchens are well equipped. The weather was terrible while we were there so we did not get to appreciate the views too much but its a great location and very close to Husavik which had great restaurants and cafes. While our whale watching trip was cancelled because of storms (two days in a row) we went horse back riding in the rain and enjoyed the whale museum. We liked this area better than Lake Myvatn where we stayed one night. If I had it to do over again I would stay here three nights and make a day trip to Myvatn. I would definitely return. Lovely place and the staff were helpful and welcoming.

Wow. That is the only word is can think of to describe this place. Everything you need for a perfect break in nature is right here. They have thought of everything. The hot tubs are fantastic, you can fish on the lake, there is a brilliant modern hide for birdwatching. The cottages are clean and comfortable, the mattress was so comfortable. All this is on top of the incredible view you have when you open your cottage door. Which is what a trip like this is all about.

Beautiful area which is home to many birds. Very cozy cottages which have a great front deck space to enjoy the many birds in the lagoon and fantastic views of the fjord and opposite mountains. Cottages were very clean and inviting. Kitchen worked well for preparing meals. We would have liked to have stayed longer. Very close to Husavik and all of its amenities. Horse riding next door, utilizing the bird lagoon area.

A wonderful place. A cozy cottage surrounded by lots of birds. An ecxellent place for birders. We had a breakfast basket brought to our cottage and got everything we asked for. It was nice sitting in the hot tub in the middle of nature. We were sorry to leave when our four nights were up.

We returned here for good reason, this time to a one-bed cottage. Everything was just as good as our Sept 2021 stay. Timings meant we used to contactless check-in and check-out and that all went seamlessly. The cottage was great - everything we needed, but the location is just awesome; mirror-like lakes, beautiful grasslands and birds, the distant bay and snow-capped mountains. And you can take all this in from a hot tub! Wish it was closer to home, but we'll be back. Thank you Kaldbaks-kot cottages.

Claustrofobic, Dangerous ladder to go up, Everything looks old, no view despite the wonderful area,, only bushes around, nobody takes care of the nature around, everything looks like abandoned... Old duvet in.beds, no space ti move in the cottage, maybe ok for One night but I would not stay for 2. There is so much better in Iceland....Not recommended!

Response from Kaldbakur Husavik, General Manager at Kaldbaks-kot Cottages
Responded 17 Mar 2023
Unfortunately, Simona booked through a travel agency which booked the house using a wholesale website under Expedia. She was informed that she would stay in a different house type than what this travel agency booked with us, therefore her expectations were not met when she entered in our house with attic. Without contacting us regarding this issue, she wrote this review in 3 different sites around the internet, within her first hour in the house . Our houses are described to detail in all platforms where we have set them up and all our guests get a thorough and honest description of what are they getting. The house with attic has no view, as is stated wherever it is offered. Nature is our number one priority that is why some houses have no views: because we give priority to our beloved trees. Finally Simona stayed for 2 nights even though she was offered to vacate and a full refund. She was happier after some hours in the compound, and told us that she would update this review. Hopefully, one day she finds the time. We hope that Simona and her family had a good time in Iceland, as in the end they seemed to enjoy themselves quite fine at Kaldbaks-kot. All the best; Benni and Elena
