Our stay at room with a view was the most enjoyable of our 3 similarly priced hotels in Iceland. Could have been a 5 star for the money if not for a few minor inconveniences. Overall though our experience was positive and it was during Christmas so half the negatives can be excused.

The positives (we had an apartment):
Big room
Clean
Lots of furniture and facilities in the room
Large bathroom
Modern
Helpful and friendly staff 24/7
Central location
Free coffee and tea facilities in foyer
Decent cooking facilities

Negatives:
.Spa up stairs for guests was not maintained well and did not feel clean
.Our door lock did not lock properly from the get go and it took many attempts with the magnetic card to lock. We stayed 3 nights And it did not get fixed during our stay HOWEVER it was during Christmas holiday so delays are to be expected. Was mainly annoying as it was like that before our stay.
.The room was short on cutlery when we entered however this was rectified immediately
.it could be noisy at night (expected when staying in downtown main street)

I would recommend guests who want to be central to food and drink + tourist information and transport. We believe it was good value for what we paid and the apartment was so handy mid trip to be able to spread out and prepare our own food. A washing machine would be a positive improvement

On first look, room looked good, had recently been refurbished but when unpacking found no room to put smalls and only 6 hangers, not even a hook to hang up towels in bathroom. As we were staying 6 nights asked reception if we could be moved as we knew there were rooms which had storage space, our daughter was staying in one, although it had not been refurbished was far better than our room and was informed none available that day but could be moved the following day. We went to reception following day, receptionist changed and we were then informed we could not move, I asked him if he could source some draws for our room, later that day when asked again he informed us there was nothing he could do but offered us a chair to hang towels in. Although clean, housekeeping during our stay was not good, we always throw the quilt back on bed and they never made it, only got clean towels when we went to reception to ask what should be done in room each day as there 3 days and we had only had the bin emptied. Fire extinguishers were used all day every day to hold fire doors open. Good free hot drinks in reception area and young Polish lady very helpful, room 417 quiet but room 204 very noisy and lots of disturbance during night due to being on front and hotel being in centre of town. Although this sounds quite negative would have been a good choice for 2 day stay but not 6.

This hotel was part of a Secret Escapes package we bought and what a smashing choice it was. A bit rambling to find your way around for the firt time, because it seems to be two buildings recently joined together. Our room on floor 5 was stylish and contemprary, shades of grey and white decor. Very comfortable bed, a good sized bathroom, controllable underfloor heating and a balcony view which was amazing. Corridors stylishly furnished and nicely carpeted.
Very well located on the main shopping street and easy to get to all the sights including the beautiful "Harpa" concert hall. There are lots of breakfast places within a few door, because the hotel does not provide a breakfast service. There is tea, coffee and hot chocolate available all the time in reception and our room had a 'fridge if you wanted to store snacks. Ours just held a bottle of vodka and some orange juice. How lucky was that!! Hope you enjoy this hotel as much as we did.

The receptionist was so nice to upgrade our room with a kitchenette - which was equipped with a microwave, fridge, stove, cutleries, coffee/tea etc. Very convenient if you want to save some bucks from always eating outside (it is ultra expensive there! 3x from the prices we have in Berlin). It so central that you literally can just walk to see some of the tourists spots. I have included some pics of the things you will see with just few steps from the hotel. Recommended!

We booked a long weekend at this hotel in a double room. When we arrived they said they had a choice of rooms available and we were shown the double room and and a small apartment. The double rooms have newly been refurbished and are lovely but we opted for the apartment for more space. The beds were comfy enough and it was nice to have a kitchen area. The drain in the bathroom did noticeably smell but we just closed the bathroom door, we weren’t in the room much.

The hotel is right in the middle of the main highstreet and you could easily walk straight past it if you didn’t know it was there, super central location but still nice and quiet. The nearest bus stop is number next to Hard Rock Cafe it’s called Laekjargata (I think bus stop 3) and all trips and transfers can pick you up from there. It’s less than a 5 minute walk.

There is a hot drink machine which is complimentary in reception and a terrace with a hot tub which you can use. The staff are happy to help with anything trop wise, directions or booking your transfers. We had a lovely stay.

Stayed for 4 nights. It’s right in the centre of the main shopping street, lots of restaurants around and a minutes walk from 3 of the bus stops you need for trips and transfers.
We had a top floor apartment with a kitchen area and great views of the harbour area. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful.
Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in the "King Suite with Balcony & Mountain View" room from December 29th-January 1st and it was absolutely perfect! We stayed in 4 different hotels in Iceland and this was by far the best at communication even in spite of not having reception on site. Emails were informative and answered quickly. The luggage storage and shower they offered for early arrival were very helpful, but I will caution that it places a great deal of faith in the other guests because everyone has access to the same luggage storage. We didn't have any problems, but it was the only part of our stay that gave me pause. Our room was spacious, comfortable, had a private jacuzzi and unbelievable views - especially for the epic NYE fireworks across Reykjavik. That particular room does not face Hallgrímskirkja church, but we were able to also enjoy that view from the building's 4th floor terrace. The only reason I hate writing this review is because I may be giving away Reykjavik's best kept secret of THE place to spend NYE!

Just got back from our stay here, very happy with our choice of accommodation. On arrival we were informed that due to us being on our honeymoon we had been upgraded to a room with a balcony, this was obviously a lovely surprise. The view from our room was fantastic, even more so at night. I was amazed at how quiet the room was given that we were right in the middle of the city. The complimentary coffee machine in reception was certainly welcome after trips out on a cold day. We weren't aware when we booked that breakfast wasn't served on site but that didn't bother us as it was only 2 minutes walk around the corner and it was perfect

Stayed here twice now and cannot recommend this place enough. The location is brilliant, right in the heart of Reykjavík and less than 5 minute walk to the bus stops for excursions. The staff are so friendly and went out of their way to help us. Free tea and coffee for guests is a bonus. The first time we stayed in an apartment that had its own kitchenette, and all the amenities. The second time around we stayed in a double room, the room was spotless and the bathroom even had heated floors! There's a rooftop jacuzzi and sauna for guests, too. And one of the cheapest places to stay in Reykjavík, I would recommend this place to everyone. 😊

A staggering lack of hospitality. Arrived at 9:30am. No staff on premises. Front door locked. They didn’t tell us this (website said it would be staffed 8-12am). No key code. Called main office more than 12 times in 90 minutes. Each time was told they would call right back, or « the manager is on her way » , or « just leave your luggage in the lobby. » (Uh, no thanks!)

Finally meet the « manager » after 2 hours of standing in the street. Olivia took us to the room. To get there we had to take two elevators and walk multiple corridors. Turns out the room we were in was in a separate building which was still under construction on the ground floor. (Who opens for business when the access is still under construction?) So there was no way to get to it without a 15 minute journey. This was also not mentioned when we booked the room.

The employees seemed totally unfazed by our frustration. But when we saw other guests sitting in the lobby with their bags, enduring the same treatment day after day we realized this was just business as usual. Unfortunately they don’t care if you have a lousy stay because they figure there will always more people (suckers?) coming to Iceland.

No housekeeping. (On the fifth day a random stack of towels appeared in our room.) Coffee machine broken. No security in lobby. (Navigating the drunk partiers stumbling in and out of lobby at 6am was not on our vacation bucket list.) Filthy elevators that stank of beer and vomit. Throughout our trip we found local Icelanders to be incredibly helpful, meticulously forthright, and passionate about hospitality. This place was the extreme exception that made us appreciate all the amazing people that we encountered. So that’s one upside?
