I really liked this place, a friend recommended it and it didn’t disappoint. it was very clean and the staff helpful and nice/always smiling. I chose a 6-bed room and made a lot of girl friends in one week staying there! It’s close to the city centre and it has a lovely view on the church (not all the rooms I reckon!) . It was warm inside and given my long stay they offered fresh towels/bed sheets which I refused since I was mostly out all day. I’m not sure I liked the fact a male would take care of the turndown service since because of that I didn’t feel comfortable sleeping or lying down in my pj or underwear, maybe being that a female dorm I would’ve sent a lady to knock first and THEN anybody else, but it wasn’t the end of the world! I’ll surely book here should I visit Reykjavik again!

Hostel location is very convenient in central Reykjavik, hostel itself was ‘ok’ & there is free parking. You get the main hostel door code & also your room code from reception ’next door’ to the hostel. The entrance to both is facing the car park on the ‘inside’ walls of the main building ie not the outside facing the main roads. Reception is on the right in the picture & the door to the hostel is on the left hand side in the corner. Main kitchen doesn’t open until 7am. Some of us with busy itineraries want to get up & already be out on the road by then, although they have a smaller ‘out of hours’ kitchen next to the main one.

Hostel right in the middle of the capital city, perfect walking distance of everything. Down part is that it does not look like the pictures, the room are old and overcrowded, not at all what I expected. My room had a bad smell and the beds are in really bad shape, every little move the other person do makes the bed shake. Not a lot of natural lights from the windows and the streets are quite loud at night.

I highly recommend this hostel for budget travelers . We stayed in this hostel for a week , which could be very expensive in other accommodation for that length of stay in similar location. Centrally located behind the famous church in Reykjavík. Walking distance to most tourist spots including the fly bus terminal, shopping, restaurants/ bars and the harbor. Bus stop #8 is the closest bus stop( right by the Hallgrimskirkja church).

We arrived mid morning and Cristina let us check in , as our room was ready, however, they allow guests to leave luggages in storage till room is available.

The hostel is artsy , spacious and clean with plenty of shared bathrooms and shower rooms . Our room was comfortable with good beds. Towels are provided. Renovations are ongoing yet there’s no noticeable disruptions for guests. The area is quiet and very safe . You’re provided a code to key in each time you enter the building ( back of the building is the entrance). Another code to get into your room. Free and good WiFi. Swimming/ sauna facility next door for 1000 isk. Street maps are available. A load of Laundry cost 3000 isk- done by the housekeeping staff or there’s a laundromat 15 minutes away.

They have a bar and dining area with good food and reasonably priced in comparison to restaurants nearby. I must say, Cristina ( one of the managers) is a very good cook as well) . The chicken dinner was very delicious.

Christina and Henry work very long hours non-stop managing this huge hostel , yet they remain very energetic, hospitable, calm, friendly , kind and helpful . I’m so impressed by how they work well together. We enjoyed our stay and I have no hesitation recommending this HOstel.
Thank you Christina and Henry.
LB

Ps- sunset photo of church tower was taken from our room.

The begin of our trip started out a rocky. The original rooms we booked mysteriously were given to someone else. We had the reservations people find us somewhere new.
B47 Hostel was open and available to accommodate 5 adults and 1 child without hesitation! If you are ever in Iceland and want a true European experience, this is the place to stay!

We can not thank this staff enough for their generous hospitality!!! But we would especially like to thank Christina, Henry Sandra and Mikey.

Christina is a fabulous host and amazing cook. She fed us all almost every evening and even took special requests for dinner.
Henry's smile and personality could light up a room. He went out of his way to be helpful and accommodating.
Sandra was very friendly and always willing to help. She arranged cab rides for all 6 of us and let us know about local shops.
Mickey was super enjoyable, knowledgeable of the area and we engaged in great conversation daily.

We hope to stay here in the future on a return trip to Iceland.

Two nights in an 8 bed dorm as a retired single woman might not appeal. It was secure, friendly, very clean, staff very helpful and friendly. Good shower and toilet ratio to guest numbers. Affordable, no hidden extras, comfortable bunk beds with tea and coffee available all day. Home made bread, still warm, at breakfast was delicious. Geothermal baths next door were a treat too.
I can't fault the place.

I booked this hostel because it is cheap and the amenities are exactly what you expect! It was unfortunate my room was right opposite the main entrance along with the toilet and shower, in which there was only one shower. The best thing about this hostel is the location, you are right next to the famous church in Reykyavik! When I checked in there was a place to leave my bag before I could get into my room as I arrived early this was very handy. On my last night, I went to the front desk to ask for help booking my return bus to the airport as I was told by Flybus that my hotel/hostel would help organise this by phoning them. I went up to the three men behind the desk on the night of the 15th of September, and asked if they could help me organise my Flybus return at bus stop 8 for the next again morning. They looked very confused as I explained that the woman had said they would have been able to help me, then another man dismissed me and said they had no affiliation with Flybus and that I would have to go online and do this myself. I am unsure why they had to be affiliated with Flybus to help me phone the company as I did not want to make an international call on my mobile. I did not want to start an argument so I left the desk feeling very anxious about how I was going to get to the airport, I do not believe the staff cared. The wifi did not work in my room that night so I decided to sit in their empty restaurant to use the wifi and calm down but one of the men came up to me straight away and told me that I couldn't sit there as it was only for people that were eating at the restaurant. He did not ask me if I wanted anything to eat at their restaurant. I informed him of the problem with the wifi, they did not appear to believe me. They went back and forth to check it but ultimately they could not fix it and by that point I did not want to interact with the staff any longer as they made me feel very uncomfortable. I sat in the kitchen which was nice. This interaction was unfortunate as it was the only time I asked for help, I got the feeling they would not be able to recommend or assist with anything. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone who is visiting Reykjavik for the first time.

The hostel is in a great location. It’s walking distance to many food options and attractions and had free parking. It seemed clean for the most part, but had stains on the dresser and the bathroom was cold because some of the upper windows would not close. It was nice for the price and location, but the stains made it “feel” dirty and unpleasant.

B47 is a great hostel. Christina, the owner looks after people's needs and is the most lovely host. My two friends and I have been staying here for almost a week and everything has been easy. The location in Reykjavik is perfect and easy to reach from the airport using Flybus. I had seen previous reviews complaining about cleanliness and got a bit worried before our stay, but can safely say that Christina and her stadd keep B47 very clean. I hope I get the chance to stay again.

Good hostel stay with friendly staff and good facilities. Especially liked the breakfast selection being offered by Christina and her team.

The room with two single beds was spacious, maybe some more storage space wouldn‘t harm for those who stay a bit longer. We were perfectly find to leave everything in our bags as we were staying three nights only.

Thanks for your kind hospitality!
