A popular guesthouse centrally located in the old city center since 1995, only a few steps away from bus stop number 8 for airport transport and day tours, as well as right across the street from Hallgrímskirkja and the beautiful sculpture garden of The National Einar Jónsson Gallery. Sunna is conveniently located downtown, only a few minutes walk from the main attractions and busy streets filled with popular cafés and restaurants, a good variety of shops, museums, art galleries, cultural activities and events. The guesthouse features 49 well-appointed rooms, including apartments, with many offering views towards Hallgrímskirkja. Our staff at Sunna are very friendly, attentive and efficient and will be more than pleased to help you make your stay even more enjoyable.

Located across the street from Hallgrimskrikja, in the center of town. I’ve stayed in two different room types both with private bathrooms. The first room was a simple room with a tiny bathroom, that I shared with two friends (we each had a twin bed), on the second floor with a balcony overlooking the back of the hotel. The second room I shared with a friend, we both had twin beds, located in a newer part of the hotel with a larger private bathroom and access to the parking lot from the stairwell. Both rooms were good. We did not order the breakfast as there are so many great spots in Reykjavik to get breakfast (Grai Kotturinn, Café Loki, Brauð & Co are my faves). Free Parking in the lot is fantastic. Communication via email before arrival was quick and efficient. I would stay here again.

I arrived in the wee hours of the morning and the staff was wonderful and accommodating. Daily breakfast is good. As a vegetarian options were a little limited but hearty and fresh each day. They let me view two rooms as one was more modern but on the groundfloor and faced the road and one was more quiet and faced a courtyard. I chose the quiet room. I appreciated being given the option. The room was clean, pretty spacious. Shower water was nice and hot with good pressure. Bus stop 8 was a one minute walk which made catching tours and airport transfers very easy. It was an easy walk to shopping and restaurants.

This was my first time visiting Iceland and I lucked out picking this Hotel. It was in a perfect location, walking distance to local attractions, the staff was friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean and the beds were comfortable. We stayed in a room with shared bathroom. It had a Shower Room and full kitchen. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, utensils and pots and pans. It was wonderful to be able to cook our own meals. I highly recommend to any traveler and would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here three nights at the end of my Iceland trip, taking advantage of a fall promotion they we’re running. The layout of the guesthouse is cute and plenty of shared bathrooms. I loved the room with a small sink and big window. Bed is comfortable too. The small public kitchen is also smart and very well equipped. It wasn’t very busy when I stayed but I think if it was full, it would be quite loud. Especially noise in the room. WiFi is really strong and consistent. The location is also excellent. So easily walkable and near bus stop from the airport and for pick ups. If you get a view of the church it’s lovely. Parking is available but very limited. Two street spots and a lot that can fit about 7-8 more but could be tight. That said if you know and explore the area you’ll find parking no problem. My two issues with the guesthouse were: sulphuric water and staff. The water in sinks and showers smelled like sulphur, and eggs. It was quite gross to fill up and rinse my mouth. Did not encounter that anywhere else in Iceland. Staff was also unhelpful. When I asked questions about tours or the volcano I was merely told to “look online,” and when asked about mail was told to “look for red boxes.” When asked about help buying a Blue Lagoon ticket due to a credit card issue I was told no. That’s fine if it’s not policy but I didn’t find staff helpful, knowledgeable or willing to do be either. Again this was a big surprise given my experience in Iceland elsewhere and at a hostel in Reykjavik. I’m torn on recommending this or if I would stay again. Location and the room is a yes but given the gross water and staff, probably not. There are other guest houses in the area.

We stayed for a week in a 2bedroom apartment at guesthouse Sunna. The apartment was really clean, fully equipped kitchen - fridge freezer, microwave, stovetop, coffee machine etc - very spacious. We were on the lower floor but had our own back entrance. The location was excellent very central and right by bus stop 8 where many excursions leave from. We will definitely stay at guesthouse Sunna when we return to see more of Iceland.
