Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Highly recommend this guesthouse very easy to find by bus stop 8, across the road from the church. The staff were very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable on tours, places to visit which I count very helpful and got more out of my trip with their advice. The guesthouse was super clean, very impressed. I had a great view of the church and felt very safe and at home there. A good hearty breakfast, again super clean, organised with helpful staff.

This guesthouse is in a great location , near a bus stop , right across the street from the lovely Hallgrimskirkja Cathedral and the Jongsson Museum/Sculpture Park , and within walking distance of city center sights. While the room was small and spartan , it was suitable for my wife and I. The breakfast was , again , not a lavish as some others on our tour of Nordic countries but it was very nice . The staff were very helpful and amiable. While the price was high compared to comparable hotels on our trip , it was reasonable for Iceland accommodations.

Our room in Guesthouse Sunna exceeded my expectations on every level. The location could not be better. Our room was bigger than expected, had a refrigerator and electric kettle, and a large bathroom with a great shower. The entire building was spotless, The staff was helpful and friendly. The included breakfast was basic, but enough to get us ready for a day of sightseeing and shopping. I will definitely return.

Big room, refridgerator, enough space for drying wet clothes from hiking, good beds, clean, quiet, central, nice bathroom, no elevator, got parking outside every time. Will come back next time. Late check in was very easy. Cosy to hear bells from the church (quiet at night).

The conveniences of a hostel like shared kitchens, eating space, common areas and laundry, but at hotel-level service. Comfortable beds, our room had a private bath (not all do), and a balcony. Front desk was very helpful, and parking is included. Lobby has a lot of resources on things to do, Whole property was VERY quiet, and we hardly saw any other guests. We did not try the breakfast.

The guesthouse is spotlessly clean, the room and beds very good and roomy, the neighbourhood quiet - and you are close to buses, sights and restuarants. The kitchen where you can make your own meals is absolutely a plus. We will come back!

Best location!! Close to your bus #8 stop, only few blocks from many city bus routes, still downtown, so close to food and activities! Accommodations were comfortable & clean. Staff was polite & helpful. My sister and I had an awesome stay at Sunna!

The person/persons who own/operate Guesthouse Sunna are greedy, money sucking vermin! Case in point, my wife fell ill with a lung infection JUST a few days before we were scheduled to fly to Iceland. I spent hours on the phone with Icelandic Air, tour companies and guesthouses to re-schedule our trip. Everyone understood our situation EXCEPT Guesthouse Sunna who kept all of our money. I could not reach the owner despite numerous calls and messages left with staff! Bottom line, we found Iceland and all of the people we met simply fabulous. Despite being in country I could still not connect with the owner of Guesthouse Sunna. Stonewalled totally. Forget this place and frankly now that I've seen it, just as well because it looks like a filthy dump! In the end we stayed at an Air BnB in the Laugardalur neighbourhood of Reykjavik at a much-reduced price.

Excellent place for the price. Rooms have own water tap and a place to wash your teeth but no bathroom. Shared bathrooms were very clean and adequate. The reception is not always open, but it was good enough for us.

The guesthouse is around the corner from Hallgrimskirkja. We stayed in a deluxe twin room with a private bathroom which had 2 single beds joined together, a desk, lounge chair, and fridge. Room was clean and tidy with very basic amenities. No shampoo or shower soap provided. There is a kettle but no tea and coffee provided in room. It is provided in the kitchen next to reception. Wifi was ok and the TV had a few English speaking channels. Room was very clean and tidy. You could hear some noise from cars passing on the road outside the hotel at night. Good option for a short stay although not cheap but nothing is in Iceland.
