What a lovely, new, modern hotel. We ended our 14 day trip here with a two day stay and we could not have been happier. Great location just outside of town made this a perfectly quiet stay for us. The staff is quite amazing and you will not find better service. The meals were wonderful and the rooms are what...

The volcano hotel was our first stop day 1 of our Iceland counter clockwise route 1 trip in a perfect location to evenly split up the travel. It's located minutes from the famous black rock sands and 10 minutes before arriving at Vik (we expected it to be closer to Vik missing it during some rubbish weather but soon found...

My wife and I ventured around Iceland for 5 days and had several hotels booked. We stare at the Volcano Hotel for 2 nights so we would have a home base while venturing out to the eastern side of the island for glacier walking and water fall hiking (both very cool). The hotel is in a great spot minutes from...

This was a lovely hotel. Modern and clean with lovely room fittings; sofa, desk, bedside tables and lamps, TV and we also had an extra heater in the room for the cold winter nights and useful for drying clothes after an action packed day. A real unique point was the coffee machine and tea selection in the dining room which...

Volcano Hotel is a very clean and modern hotel about 10 minutes from Vik, 5 to the black sand beach, 10 to the US Navy Plane Wreck, and about 30 from the major waterfalls on the south coast (Seljandafoss and Skogafoss). Can't beat the location. You have views of the surrounding mountains, cliffs, and ocean from the hotel. The staff...

Very quaint and charming hotel just outside of Vik. Close to the famous black sand beach and other notable Icelandic attractions. The staff were so hospital it almost made you feel as though you were staying at a friends house as opposed to a hotel (this is a smaller hotel; under ten rooms). The breakfast was a pleasant surprise. A...

The old town school has been converted into a gem of a hotel: comfortable, clean, quiet, great use of texture and color in the decor. Extensive breakfast included with a nice buffet, fresh baked waffles and bread and eggs cooked to order. Far enough out of town to see the Northern Lights just by stepping into the parking lot! Even...

Fantastic hotel. This is the kind of place where you feel like a friend rather than just a visitor. The staff was fantastic, and the rooms are very nice. There is a reason this is one of the best rated places to stay in the area. If you are lucky enough to get s reservation at the Volcano Hotel consider...

We were at the Volcano Hotel for a single night, and we were very impressed. Lovely rooms, clean, and comfortable. We took in the dinner option, and we were very glad we did. It was absolutely delicious. There was a storm moving in the following morning, and the owners were sure to let us know to get on the road...

We were looking for a small, personal and delightful hotel for our Honeymoon and this was perfect. The owners are lovely people and made our stay extremely enjoyable. There was a large and varied breakfast offering, I can recommend the tasty eggs. The rooms and the decoration are different but very in keeping with the volcanic surroundings. They also offer...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Volcano Hotel is a very nice country hotel in the area of Mýrdalur valley, by the southern most tip of Iceland. We have only 7 spacious and beautiful rooms at the hotel, the rooms are decorated in Scandinavian style, with hard wood floors and light interiors. All our rooms have private bathroom with shower, shampoo, soaps and a hairdryer. There is a nice lounge/dining room with a bar at Volcano Hotel and dinner is available for our guests, if it is booked in advance - latest the morning of your arrival. We take price in offering a personal service and know the importance of meeting a local, so do chat with us and ask us about anything in Iceland - we're happy to help. ... more   less
