I visited Valletta back in 1968. Loved the place. I always wanted to go back. I miss a little lady named Joyce. The island is beautiful. The people were very friendly. Loved the food and wine. I believe I stayed at the Coronation Guest House upstairs. It sure looks and sounds familiar. Now that I'm old I just might go... More

In the interest of full transparency, I should tell you straight off that my stay was back in 2004, but judging from the reviews, it doesn't sound like much has changed. I found myself in Malta without a place to stay at the end of the tourist season, and I had two options: A cheap shared-room hotel in the nightclub... More

Great, cheap hostel! Yes, all the facilities are old, but Coronation Guesthouse has got it's own spirit - partly because of a really very kind and helpful manager (he treats you not like a next tourist or visitor, but like a guest), partly because you feel history inside and outside (great views on churches and bay from old wooden terraces).... THE cheapest place to stay in World Heritage city of Valletta, chock full of history and peopled by the friendliest inhabitants I have come across in twenty years of travelling. New shower and toilet and lots of freshly painted rooms since previous reviews, super friendly and helpful manager, good atmosphere and great views of old city and Marsamxett Bay.

I was teaching in Sliema and San Gwan for 2 months and lived at the Coronation House. The worst was no AC. They gave me a fan since I was there for so long, but it wasn't enough in the summer there. I return semi-frequently to Malta, and in the winter, it is cold so Coronation would be okay if... More

Booked this hotel knowing that it fit the budget (5.50 Lira pp per night) and that it was a great location. A five minute walk to the Valletta bus station and two minute walk to Republic Street. In those aspects is was a good choice. The hotel itself was substandard, even for budget accomadations. The shared facilities were deplorable. The... More

Crusty, rusty Sink. small single bed with a fan. NO AC The room looks almost like one of the ruins of WWII. (It hasn't been clean since WWII either). Don't open your... More
