Lying in a secluded dip in the hills prolifically planted with trees and shrubs, the whole site is maintained to a high standard from the modern ablution blocks to the neatly trimmed grass. The site shop stocks a complete range of goods including groceries, alcohol, souvenirs, and fresh local dairy produce. Dogs on leads are very welcome. The two excellent ablution blocks provide hot showers at no extra cost, and outside sinks for pots. A large play area is provided with swings and a climbing frame. Seats are placed around the site for use whilst keeping an eye on the children or simply watching the world go by. The site is situated halfway between Buxton and Ashbourne at the junction of the A515 and A5012. Carriages Restaurant and the Newhaven Garage are adjacent to the site. Within easy reach of the Derbyshire Dales, Historic Houses and attractive Derbyshire villages. Close to the Tissington and High Peak Trails.

My husband & I booked this last minute when we saw the weather for an upcoming weekend was going to be glorious. I booked online but called the next day just to clarify a couple of things on my booking. At that time the weather wasn’t great & the owner proceeded to moan about how awful the weather was-nothing like selling a place to me! Upon our arrival a few days later (when the weather had greatly improved, as forecast) we really were made to feel like an inconvenience. I had indicated online when booking we would not be checking in til just gone 6pm. When we arrived at reception the female owner again started moaning about how much she had to do the next day & so she was leaving her husband to check us in. Her husband then ensured his colleague had his bread & milk from the camp site shop before showing us to our pitch. Nothing like making your paying customer feel welcome-especially when they’ve been closed half the year! During our weekend stay, on the odd occasions we popped by the camp site shop again customer service did not improve. Whilst we found the the site itself quite spacious in its overall layout & toilets & showers regularly cleaned to a good standard during COVID, if there were other campsites in this area that had availability next time we visit the Peak District, I would stay elsewhere & hope to be greeted in a friendlier way!

We have just returned from 5 nights camping (non-electric) at Newhaven holiday park. The campsite is immaculate and very well maintained. The bathrooms are by far the best we have come across in our many summers of camping. There was plenty of space for my daughter to play and all the regular guests with seasonal pitches made us feel very welcome too. The children's play area is excellent and the shop is well stocked. The location is great for visiting different areas of Derbyshire and the Peaks.

I have just 2 suggestions for improvement, but certainly nothing major: the men's bathroom to have a child's sink installed, same as the women's so young children can go with their Dad's to the bathroom too. also, there doesn't seem to be a defined system for ice-block freezing for those not using EHU. I would suggest the laundry room should be left unlocked 24/7 or at least 7am-10pm so that guests can access their ice blocks when they need to. I felt a little uncomfortable having to knock on the owner's house door to ask to collect my ice blocks and being unsure what the opening times were.

I would highly recommend this campsite.

We booked a last minute deal so there wasn't much choice of sites around so when we booked New haven we thought that anything would do. That wasn't the case, it turns out that New haven was just perfect. A quiet site with a good mix of statics, caravans and good grass pitches with hookups. We had quite a large tent and was worried that it would be too big for a pitch but they assured me that it would fine, excellent grass area with plenty of gravel paths around to get about. The toilet and shower block near us were brand new and so clean, there was another block next to the shop and reception that even tho isn't as new is still in great condition and really clean. The location was great, only five minutes from bakewell and around twenty minutes from Matlock so really handy. We also felt really looked after while we were staying, you could always find a member of staff out and about doing their work such as keeping grass cut and general tidying and maintenance, they would always find time to help you as much as they could. Would definitely recommend this site and I will be definitely returning.

Upon arrival there was no greeting apart from what’s your name? Was made to feel as though you were an inconvenience by being there.
We weren’t told were anything was, not that that matters as there’s only a park and a very small shop. Along with the usual toilets and washing for pots.
Says dog friendly although there wasn’t a specific dog walking ground, which would be a bonus, as to go anywhere from there you really need a car. Not even a dog bowl in site for water or anywhere to rinse them if they were muddy, either due to walking or the muddy small grass area.
The shop was hardly open. The toilets were mostly shut at the same time for hours. Fairly clean but could be better, and need decent showers as the ones in the bottom section only stop on for literally 10 seconds and are really hot, temperature can’t be adjusted either.
Caravans and tents are quite close together so when people are still talking at 1:00am you can hear them.
There is a park, only clearly for children under 12 (and it shuts at 8:00pm) so adults, don’t sit on a swing with your kids, even if you’re the only ones on there, as the staff drive down and have a go at you! Fun sponges. Also that was the only time any of the staff spoke, really miserable and unpleasant.
The location is nice as are surrounding areas. The park itself is kept clean and is fairly secure. Also no bikes or scooters are allowed to be used anywhere on site at all....
Face masks were no where in sight.
Obviously I would not go again and wouldn’t recommend, the ‘welcome’ alone is enough to put you off.

Firstly, rock boulders placed everywhere so you don’t drive on the grass, but why put them at the entrance to the site sitting on gravel? Take them away so cars can pullover when another is attempting to drive in! Absolutely ridiculous idea, they’re placed all over the site along the gravel driveways and very narrow! No need for it. Pitches- hard standing, Is that what they call it? gravel thrown down with no levelling of the pitch, in one area the caravans have no grass behind them or infront so it’s like sitting on a car park. No ball games for children, kids park closes at 8pm, no bikes or scooters, I think they should make the site Adult only as they clearly don’t like kids playing. One nice point is the toilets and showers are new and clean but a passcode is needed to enter, pathetic. The wardens are constantly watching your every move, the shop was never open leaving a sign on the door to ring them! The grass couldn’t have been cut for weeks, way too long and thick, they never once gave it a mow, not even when someone left a pitch so why make people leave at 11am and newcomers can’t go on until 2pm, what for? as they aren’t doing anything once a pitch has become vacant. Also don’t arrive early as they make you sit and wait until the exact time! It is a lovely site, in a nice area but managed completely wrong. It could be so nice

Absolutely beautiful site, incredibly well kept and peaceful - surrounded by trees.
It has a very cute little shop on site, and the modern wash facilities are spotless.
We were made to feel so welcome from the second we got there, which was great as it made us feel more at ease as this was our first camping trip with a lively Springer Spaniel puppy. The manager stopped for a chat to see how we were getting on with him on our second day, which was nice.
The site was very quiet on the day we were leaving, and the manageress told us that there was no rush to pack up which was much appreciated.
There are a number of small things that they get right that can make all the difference. There was no extra charge for our recently acquired ball of sharply toothed fluff, and although the WiFi isn't amazing it mainly did the job, and again there is no charge for this do I really can't complain. These are things that most sites are happy to levy a fee for.
We are looking forward to going back for a longer holiday next year, and the small team do an absolutely amazing job!!

We stayed here for the weekend in a tent, The site is first class. Friendly staff met us on arrival and showed us to our spacious pitch. The site was very clean and tidy. There was a great play area which our two children thoroughly enjoyed. The toilet and shower block is fantastic, spotlessly clean, very modern and plenty of hot water.
There was a large area for washing dishes which again was very clean, plenty of sinks and drainers and lovely hot water and it was under a shelter.
The bins were emptied regularly and there was a good range of recycling bins available.
I would have absolutely no hesitations in recommending this site and look forward to returning again.

Hiking the End to End trail (Lejog) and found this on route. I found Paul and Sue to be truly lovely people that can’t do enough for you. The tent section is quiet and on perfectly flat grass! The Wash room are clearly brand new and the cleanest I’ve seen on a campsite! There’s a cheeky little cut at back of tent field that takes you directly to Carriages Bar & Restaurant where the food and drink is very good and reasonably priced. I’d definitely stay again

Stayed here for a 5 night caravan break and pleasantly surprised on arrival. Sue had already called to see if we were arriving early but as we were running slightly late it was not an option. However the ‘meet & greet’ on arrival was really nice. Paul noticed some damage incurred to the connection when we got there, needed a new connection bought and then wired up. Paul was happily going to have one of the lads sort it without even a prompt. Through the time there they were always friendly and happy to help. The site itself was super clean and the shower/toilet blocks constantly checked and cleaned. All hard standing pitches set in a surround of trees. There does appear to be a lot of ‘seasonal’ units along with static accommodation but our pitch was in the area beyond so no major issues are had. Evenings were nice listening to owls ‘hooting’ and foxes barking. A tad noisy on the traffic side with the bikers having fun but I doubt you’ll escape that at ANY caravan/camping site tbh. Did have tv signal problems (which I’m sure could have been resolved) but used my iPad instead of the tv so not overly inconvenienced. Overall a great ‘base’ to explore the surrounding areas, we did Chatsworth and Heights of Abraham along with a trip out to reservoir dams and nature walks. I’d go back to this site quite happily and reading some of the other reviews can honestly say they must have stayed somewhere else and reviewed the wrong site. Paul/Sue thank you for a really nice comfortable few days away from it all.

The site is lovely and well maintained. Albeit I do think they could be a bit more space between the vans as you can hear everyone's conversation all the time. Not the end of the world just my honest opinion. Pitches are quite slopey but again managed to reticfy this with chocks. Lots of bins and taps around site. Showers and toilet facilities rather nice but not enough for the site, my wife and 2 girls were always waiting around for showers. Even then they decided to share to make it quicker.
The only gripe I seem to have is that the the site tends to be a lot of seasonal users and I get the impression they tend to feel like they own the park. There is me telling my girls they cant ride their bikes around the park then other children are and nothing is said. Some guests do let the site down there's a guy on the second row with a little black dog he let keep doing her business around the pitch and then just leave it there for hours. Again as i said must be seasonal user as no lead for the dog just wandering all around. Fair enough the dog didnt roam far but pick the crap up it is not nice for people walking around. Seems he didnt care much anyway as he just kept throwing his nub ends out all over the pitch too. I would go back depsite all this but would like to remain nerarer the top all or the bottom pitches.

There’s a shop which includes a coffee machine but no cafe. Nearest pub is Biggin (Waterloo Inn) about a mile or so away, a restaurant called Carriages literally just off the park. I recommend the Farmyard Inn about 4 miles away in Youlgreave
