Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The place is located in a very quiet area, thd staff is nice, but the lady does not speak English. Our apartment had 2 rooms, big bathroom and well equipped kitchen. It's close to Fuseta, especially if you have a car. The pool is small, but clean. Thetr is also a bar and bilard. I recommend Monte dos Avos, if you want peaceful, quiet holiday.

Booked through teletext and was under the impression we were staying in Tavaria but that was 2 stops away on a train. There were no bars, restaurants, or supermarkets unless you wanted to walk over a rumble road 5 miles there and 5 miles back again with heavy shopping as this place was self catering. Staff didn't speak any English. You definitely needed a car and the apartments were situated in the middle of a field. I've never ever done a negative review in any holiday but I have to say I couldn't wait to get home would not recommend this holiday especially if you had any elderly family members or small children there is literally nothing to do

Me and wife weren't expecting such a peaceful place. It is literally all we were asking for. Traditional houses and full of nature. Was a good digital detox and a good connection with nature 😊 hope to come back again

Our two-storey apartment was great - clean and comfortable - as was the location. But, there was not a lot going on around it so eating out in the evening was not an option as we didn't have a car and the closest places were around 45 minutes walk away. That was ok during the day with lovely walking through the nature reserve, but not much good after dark! We had booked through a travel agent and were expecting to be in Tavira. This may be in the Tavira postal area but it was two train stops away! As long as you're aware of the restrictions, it's a good place to stay.

Quite location near the lovely town of Fuseta and great area if you want to get away from the hussle and bussle of the larger centres. Nice pool area and helpful staff albeit limited English but we would visit again.

Firstly the good points - The accommodation was spacious, clean and tidy, and everything worked. The village looks good, is quiet most of the time, and the staff are great, friendly and hardworking, but their English is severely limited, so communication can be difficult. Our toaster expired during our stay and it was immediately replaced by a new one. WI-Fi is free, but you need to get close to reception and sit there to use it. Next, the niggles - The glassware was sparse, not a wine glass in eveidence. we were reduced to drinking wine from small tankards. We arrived late at night to NOTHING. No milk, no breakfast, no bread, no shops, no bars within 10 minutes walk, no welcome pack. Kitchenware was also sparse, e.g. no scissors - imagine that with modern packaging!. The saucespans and teapot (actually a battered aluminium coffee pot) all needed oven mitts to handle them when full of hot liquid as the handles became hot enough to burn you. The kitchen sockets were also sparse - unplug one appliance to use another. The surfaced road ends at the village and becomes little more than a dirt track with some delightful houses on it. Our bedroom windows faced that track and the noise created by vehicles using it was loud, so, in the morning we did not need an alarm clock due to the track residents leaving to go to work. That started just after 6am. The neighbours are Bulgarian or Rumanian, and they and their kids were noisy throughout most of the day. We were not bothered by insects or vermin except wasps, who were persistently bothersome if we sat on the patio. The real downside to this holiday village is its isolation. No nearby bars or shops so not suitable for anyone without full mobility. There is a train station at a nearby small settlement - Livramento, and you have to walk almost the same distance for a bus, which we were warned "doesn't seem to run to a timetable". The administration of the village is left to the onsite maid, whose English is almost nil. Reception is not manned, and adjacent to reception is a bar and barbecue area that hasn't been open for at least the last 4 years according to a regular Dutch holidaymaker we got talking to. There are cycles, but they are only for the Dutch. The pool is small and showing its age but the water is clean. there is also a squash court and a tennis court, but they didn't appear to have been used in a long time. We booked via Thomas Cook, and they compounded the isolation by not having a visiting rep. All they gave us was a phone number "in case of problems". They don't even provide an information book in reception. The only information book was from a Dutch travel firm, and, of course, it was in Dutch. The Dutch couple we talked to informed us that they DID get quite an extensive welcome pack, and their holiday included either the use of bicycles for their stay OR discounted car hire. To sum up this village is definitely not for families or those of limited mobility unless you are prepared to hire a car or pay for taxis. Please make sure you have the makings of a drink when you arrive, particularly if it's late at night or you need to arrange car hire after arrival.

On arrival we were shocked as the apartment in question didn't look anything like the photos posted on the website - then the problem with the cockroaches started finding a fully grown one in the bathroom the following morning and eggs on the kitchen surfaces. The kitchen was extremely outdated and the bedrooms seemed to be premenatly damp - we could hear our neighbours as if they were in our apartment. The cockroaches got so bad that we left the apartment mid stay as we asked for the door to be fixed and it never was whilst we were there (even tho we told the person running the place Carmen and she brought a handyman who said he would - however two days later with a 1 year old baby we really couldn't risk the volume of them coming In and the already infested kitchen so we left to an extremely apologetic Carmen - I told her this had ruined our family holiday and asked pls to sort this problem out for the sake of other families. Very disapointed for our 4 kids ruined family holiday.

My wife and I stayed for a week in the beginning of September. The one bedroom apartment we had was clean and reasonably well equipped. A proper little kitchen with a good set of equipment. It could probably do with air-con in the hottest months but was fine in September (about 30 centigrade). A really nice pool area with trees for shade when it gets too hot. It is a little isolated so a car is really needed. You can walk to a couple of little bars, but they are not the nicest, you are better to go into Fuseta (a little too far to walk) or Tavira (definitely too far to walk). Both of these towns have lots of nice restaurants and the prices are mostly reasonable.

My husband and I have come for a break before summers holidays. What can I say, it's very cold. Certainly would not recommend coming, this time of year, if you don't like the COLD. I wouldn't even recommend it, if you come in the middle of the summer, come to that, as there is no air conditioning either! We asked Andrea, the manager, for a heater, as in the evenings the temperature here, drops remarkably and she said categorically, she had no heaters for anyone to use. I said, both my husband and myself had chest infections, she said there was plenty of blankets to keep us warm. So far every evening, which we stay in,we are wrapped in blankets. That's great for a holiday, I don't think! I told her, we will complain and she said, that was ok. I even asked for the owners phone number and she said we would have to complain to Expedia, our booking agent. This I have done, two days ago and to date we have had no reply. I think it is very sad, that someone has built a lovely mini village, beautiful rooms, but NO HEATING OR AIR CONDITIONING, in a county like Portugal
