My first trip to Cyprus with Mercury Holidays .The hotel rooms could do with updating but overall everything else at the hotel was excellent. The: food was very good with lots of choice - the rooms were adequate and clean with excellent shower and we had a balcony , fridge ,hairdryer. There was entertainment in the evenings .The outside pool was adequate with plenty of sun beds. The staff were very helpful and attentive - they work very hard so a special shout-out to the following staff . Reception : Leonidas,Karin’s, Christalla, Diana. Bar: Loucas Restaurant: Louis All in all a very good value for money hotel so will be going back. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Very mixed reviews about this establishment but we stayed in a double room, bed and breakfast in the main block and we have to say was very good. We was on the top floor with a lovely balcony facing the pool with some views of the sea. The room was good size, light and airy with a small fridge that was most efficient. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and good service. The hotel is well located about 15 mins from the main harbour or a few bars and restaurants if you go to the triangle that is the other direction. The walk on the seafront is also fab whichever way you choose to walk. Overall we had a lovely stay, weather was good which was a huge bonus and we would certainly return. Yes there are lots of cats and it does say not to feed them and also the cleaning of our room could have been a little better such as the balcony rail and toilet. Thank you for our stay.

PAPHOS GARDENS HOTEL & APARTMENT BLOCKS – CYPRUS Photo's shown on hotel guide/Jet2 holidays are not current. • Booked an apartment, cannot comment on hotel. • Apartments are spread around the complex – 2 levels with no lift. The hotel is a separate building, housing the restaurant, pool and entertainment area. All the apartments we viewed were in a poor, shoddy condition and required a full upgrade. • Restaurant offered good food, menu repeated 2nd week. • Negatives – cats wander in the restaurant/around the complex - counted 15+. Maybe the cats keep rodents/vermin under check! • 1st apt – dangerous, dirty, and no sofa bed as advertised. Apartment required a full upgrade. Contacted UK Jet2 support. • 2nd apt – Acceptable, until a few days later we came back to find a very large cockroach on the bed. Tried to catch it, but it disappeared into the base of the bed. Hotel reception offered to spray the room/unable to offer alternative apartment. Further contact to UK Jet2. • 3rd apt. Dark, dank and smelt dreadful, uninhabitable. Further contact to UK Jet2 support. • At this point we requested to travel back home – completely distraught. No flights available, nor could Jet2 offer another hotel for 48hrs - the day prior to our return back to UK. • 4th apt. Offered late afternoon. Following morning - shower - no water pressure. Reported: 1st handyman unable to fix the problem. 1 hour later – 2nd handyman arrived, entered bedroom, moved chair/showed us a power socket turned off. This power socket provided the water pressure facility! We stayed here for the rest of our vacation. • Back in UK contacted Jet2 in writing – poor response. We were told that the ‘essential information’ informed clients that one could expect to find insects because of the climate. This may be true for areas outside the buildings, around trash bins, but cannot be said to be acceptable on/in your bed or indeed in any part of the accommodation. • Further correspondence/requesting a senior officer – who in turn offered a non-negotiable re-imbursement of £150.00. Accepted, jaded by the whole process, and wanted to put the whole sordid experience behind us. We have travelled abroad for over 40 years, we are tolerant, do not set our expectations too high and understand one normally gets what one pays for. This is the first time we have made such a complaint. We travelled to Cyprus in October 2023 and have only recently resolved our complaint with Jet2 (Feb. 24), but not to our satisfaction. Very disappointed with Jet2’s responses/length of time to resolve. Have travelled with Jet2 often in the past – no issues. We will not be travelling with them again.

On arriving we were advised we had been upgraded to a one bed apt!!After getting shown in (it was dark) we put on light and looked outside we were a ground floor and there were around 6 cats at the window! In bedroom when we opened wardrobe there was a very strong smell of what I would describe as cat urine, also to around the patio door. We went down and complained as I thought I can't sleep in that room, the receptionist said that the 'wood' was old and they couldn't do anything that night, it was obvious from what she was saying that we weren't going to get a move so we just went out and bought air freshners, we just left clothes in suitcase as they would have smelt if we hung them up. This was certainly no upgrade, patio was tired looking and cats sitting on patio furniture and it faced the main road and the barking dogs form the rescue centre all night made for a disturbed sleep. On the plus side it was very clean and towels changed most days. The breakfast was lovely as was the lounge and pool areas. The apartments let this complex down big time, so if you have booked a hotel room and are offered an 'upgrade' beware!!!!

We were travelling with my sisters and their husbands and didn't get the accommodation we requested - double rooms in the hotel close together being told on arrival that we had been upgraded!! It didn't feel like an upgrade especially not for my sisters and their husbands. One had rubble and an old tree stump as a patio, and the other was up 2 flights of stairs and in ear shot of the nearby animal sanctury. I notice from another review that they were not the only couple to be disturbed in this way. For the first night neither of my sisters had a mattress topper or quilts so spent a very cold first night. What made the whole thing worse was that we were told we'd been upgraded as they couldn't put us together as requested, however, we were in separate blocks, how does that work? It's true to say the staff tried their best to put it right on Sunday morning but the attitude of the staff on our arrival was take it or leave it and increased our disappointment in the start of our holiday. On a positive note the breakfast was very nice and the pool area very pleasant. Overall we would be unlikely to return to Paphos Gardens for fear of disappointment.

As the title says, we had a 'cheap and cheerful' week here as out first time in cyprus. I booked a double hotel room with b&b as we didn't need self catering. Upon checking in we were given a whole 2 storey somewhat tired looking self catering apartment, even though I showed the booking that we booked a double room as we didn't need a whole apartment, but the gut checking us didn't really reply to it, so, that was weird....The apartment itself was ok, was generally clean and smelled clean but definitely needed many repairs, there was a huge 2 inch gap under the front door so we had centipedes and other bugs constantly coming in, luckily I brought ant traps... Other issues like the bathroom ceiling fan half hanging off the ceiling and not working, the bedside lamps not working and disintegration of wooden furniture. I'd add that this didn't hugely bother us as the apartment was still clean and was cleaned every other day for bins emptied and fresh towels etc, plus the air con worked very well as should. Plus, we were out mostly all day every day to explore Cyprus so we mostly used 1 bedroom the bathroom and that was it. Were were in tulip 103. Nice quiet street, Kleious, lots of pretty flowers and trees and the way the resort is set out is nice too. The main hotel building (that we should've been in) was more modernised, the breakfast had a great variety of things, although between 9am-9.45am was crazy busy and was literally every man for themselves, definitely go earlier to avoid the hordes. The pool area was nice, most of the sunloungers were taken/claimed before 9am (lol) so we didn't swim in the pool, although we did swim twice in the indoor spa pool in the evenings when it was quiet, and that was very nice, recommend that. The 2nd outdoor pool was closed. The resort is a 5 min walk down the street from the beach walk, which is about a 15 min walk to the harbour area and is gorgeous. There is also bus stops v close by, which are on time and can be found on the pafos buses website for timetables, also recommend to get around easily for €2 a ride, even to airport (ignore the taxi drivers who will harass you telling you the buses are off, they definitely are not off). Overall we had a pleasant stay at Paphos Gardens and would stay again, if, we actually got the hotel room we booked the first time. As I said, our apartment was not what we had booked or needed, but it was fine, and we were out all day. For a cheap and cheerful holiday it was good for that purpose. The staff were all v pleasant, and the resort area was clean, and very pretty with lots of trees and flowers, and also mostly quiet. Just, in dire need of some refurb. 3.5-4/5.

Greeted well, cold drink on arrival. Great location only 20mins walk to the harbour and the archaeological site, then 10mins on the bus to the Tombs. Near by you have Avis tours very good, and some bars and restaurants, viva cyprus was particularly nice. We only had breakfast at the hotel which was nice. However with the animal sanctuary so close there are barking dogs and braying donkey all night which ment we were very tired and the staff start cleaning and using the leaf blower at 7am so no sleeping in. Unfortunately they do not provide towels for the pool and there are no basics for the kitchen, you get a bath, hand towel and some soap. However there is a shop near by. Shame they do not have decent sized cups I had my tea out of a milk jug all holiday and saw people with there own cups at breakfast The hotel is dated and most the fixtures are damaged, broken sink, stained headboard, bed ect. but they are clean and usable the mattress was comfortable too. They compensate with a bottle of wine and fruit on arrival and Turkish delight on leaving. Also staff seem very nice so there trying

This was a special holiday for us, being my husband’s 70th birthday and our wedding anniversary. We travelled with Mercury holidays and had booked a studio apartment through them. The hotel is about 300m back from the beach and has the appearance of being fairly secluded. We had to pass another derelict hotel to reach it, though this wasn’t a problem. On arrival, we were kindly offered a cold drink while the checking in details were completed. The studio was Ca203, on the edge of the complex, in an old building. It was nothing like those featured in the brochures and was in great need of modernisation. For example, one of the drawer fronts fell off, my side of the bed, against the wall, had no access for a table, and the cooker could have been straight out of my mother’s 1970s kitchen! The worst thing was that the old shower cubicle in the bathroom had a curtain that only came part way down, leaving a large gap, so that, despite our best efforts, we had two floods in the bathroom (which already had a strange murky smell). My husband nearly slipped and fell twice. Also, because of its position, the studio had no sun, faced a road, and also faced towards a dog rescue centre. It wasn’t the dogs’ fault, but I was kept awake most of that first night by continual barking. The following morning we managed to change the room to studio Na210, a room on the first floor, which matched the pictures in the brochure. Without our holiday rep I’m not sure the change would have happened. With the new studio, unlike the previous one, there was a bottle of wine waiting for us. We had the sun most of the day and it faced away from the rescue centre so was much quieter. It was clean, modern and comfortable. We had new towels most days, but the sheets were only changed, at most, once in the two weeks. Our toiletries were also replaced just once in the two weeks. Breakfasts were excellent - buffet style - with plenty of choice. There was also a robust programme of activities for guests offered 6 days a week. You would have to like cats, as there were plenty of them around and about, including the hotel lounge area. I think the hotel needs to be more transparent and upfront about having old studios for guests. Not all are modern/refurbished as we found out. If we hadn’t been offered another studio, which matched the brochure photos, it would have probably spoiled the holiday and could have ended up with a hospital stay if my husband had had a bad fall in a flooded bathroom.
