If you cross the road and walk down the side of the louis Imperial beach hotel you will come to the coastal path and a small sandy beach there, but if you walk further towards the harbour you will come across 2 more sandy beach, not very big but will be lovely for the children. The one in front of the Alexander the Great hotel is a public beach. So it's not necessary to go all the way to Coral beach unless you really want to, if you do you will need a day bus pass from the driver costing 5 euros each as you will be using 2 buses to get there and 2 buses back to the hotel but I think the 5 year old will travel free but not sure about the 11 year old. There is a children's club which may suit the 5 year old at the Avanti not sure about the 11 year old.
