Very nice hotel. Awesome rain shower & pressure. Very good breakfast buffet with eggs to order. Our room had a large balcony facing the sea and actually right on the sea - you could spit into the sea if so inclined. Keys to room were wooden and digital - never seen them before. Beautiful rooftop pool was warm even in November. Men’s wet & dry saunas were very hot but ladies steam room wasn’t functional. Good fitness center. Luxurious towels.

Incredible location: located at the famous & iconic Formula One racing hairpin turn; short walk to casino & luxury mall.

No beach at the hotel nor within walking distance.

No self service laundry found anywhere in MC. Hotel laundry service was very expensive so we didn’t use it. Paying 5-10 Euro to clean a pair of underwear seems excessively expensive.

Television had about 50 channels of many languages but few in English, no channels that most American kids would enjoy - which might be a good thing.

We would gladly stay here again.

As always I arrived here having read all the one star reviews to prepare me for the pitfalls. I recommend this tactic.
I was prepared for the ‘rude’ and ‘arrogant’ staff. Not at all. The girl who checked me in was lovely even if the men border on obsequious.
Admittedly it was opened in 1975 and I dare say it hasn’t changed much since. They didn’t know we were going to read our mobile phones in bed and so things like bedside plug sockets are notably absent and they thought that glitzy marble bathrooms were the height of good taste and so on... but space never goes out of fashion and the rooms are lovely and big and for what I wanted: a swim in the morning and proximity to the opera which I could see from my lovely little terrace, it couldn’t have been better.
It is a bit like being in Hart to Hart but not many readers will remember that, although many will perhaps relate better to a Roger Moore Bond film. Get my drift?
The €200 security deposit which is a bugbear mentioned a lot in these reviews is the same as the room, but with breakfast at €40 and (at their estimation) about €500 worth of condoms and champagne in the minibar I suppose you could call it fair in the same way the French think it’s fair if they carry on fishing in British water for the next 25 years...

I've been staying at the Fairmont on and off for 30 years (depending on which company I've been working for, the Fairmont is always my personal choice) and it never fails to please, from the welcome at the reception desk to the helpful front of house team, the high standard of room maintenance and the facilities; I am very fond of staying at this hotel.
My only complaint is the curious lack of attention to in-room amenities for business travelers; it astonishes me that in 2021 there are no available plugs in the room for powering laptops and charging phones -or even to plug in the iron. It is necessary to crawl around the floor and unplug lamps or coffee makers, a serious oversight from an otherwise excellent hotel.

Firstly the positives, the booking help with Gema who was excellent.
Room overlooking the garden was comfortable and clean, however, the bathroom is tired with mould around the same, a terrible overhead shower.
The location of the hotel is great.
On arrival at the hotel I had to carry my large case down the stairs I am a lady in her 60’s and it appeared to me that the gentlemen collecting cases were more interested in running after those customers with high end cars the front entrance to the hotel is chaotic!
Our room was not ready on arrival however, we were given a complimentary drink whilst waiting.
The hotel reminds me of hotels that were high end 30 years ago but these days are long gone, it is tired and in need of a total renovation, even the cream chairs at reception were marked and worn.
We paid for breakfast in advance but this is mediocre at best, a glass of fruit, you hurt and pastries.
We have stayed in Monaco many times but decided this time to stay at the Fairmont because it had a pool.
Despite being a hotel resident you have to book a dumbed at 35 euros the pool is small, overcrowded and noisy, full of non residents. Not having access to the pool was a huge disappointment and if I had known this in advance I would never have booked the hotel. I will be requesting a refund of some of the monies paid because what is advertised is misleading and wrong.
I am a member of the Fairmont programme and unfortunately due to the FCO guidelines that France and Monaco were no longer considered safe for anything other than essential travel, our flights were changed to 10 pm at night. I requested a late check out but was advised I had to pay an additional 150 Euros to keep the room until 4 pm exorbitant especially when the hotel is significantly under occupied.
All in all it was a disappointing and overpriced experience.

We stayed for 5 nights at a cost of more than Euro 5,000. While the staff were friendly and the hotel well appointed location wise, the information provided that led to us booking was misleading at best, wholly inaccurate would be a better description. As it was a special occasion, we booked a "deluxe sea view room" which actually was a room that had a 70% view of a building site 50m that was taller than the Fairmont and which had construction work ongoing continually, so not only was it not a deluxe sea view, it was noisily disruptive. So much so that we requested a room move to the opposite side of the hotel. If you are going to continue to use these hotel rooms directly adjacent to a building site with no real proper sea view, you should make it clear to potential guests and offer these rooms at a different lower rate because of this.
The hotel boasts a swimming pool, however it does not make it clear that its ran by Nikki Beach who do not allow hotel residents access to the sun loungers or tables near the pool unless we wanted to pay Euro 220 a day and buy a minimum of 1 bottle of champagne. Instead hotel gusts get a choice of only 30 sun loungers along the back wall ( next to the construction site again) away form the pool and positions in a row with no gap between sun loungers, as in not one cm gap, so you are lying on a sun lounger with complete strangers no more than 20 cm from you, simply an invasion of privacy, incredibly uncomfortable and not acceptable. Again, this was not pointed out when booking.
To be totally open with you, if we had known about the poor rooms and the conditions imposed to use the pool, no way would we have booked ay Euro 1,000 per night.
The last 5 nights of our tour around south of France was well and truly spoilt.
In fairness the duty manager did apologise as we checked out and we were given a 10% reduction in our bill, however as said, if the true facts of staying at this hotel were clear, we would never ever have booked to stay with you. It was a terribly experience overall.

We stayed at the Fairmont Monte Carlo for two nights in September 2022, as part of hour honeymoon.

First of all, it’s important to say this is not your typical Fairmont. There are no Gold floor and Gold lounge. And it really lacks the sophistication one usually expects from this brand. This hotel is some sort of crossover between a large US-style conference hotel and a swimming pool club for those who want to “see and be seen”. So the general vibe is a bit strange and way less luxurious than in other Fairmont hotels.

Our sea view room was of good size, but the décor was ancient. It looked like it was renovated for the last time somewhere in the 1980s, and it was absolutely not worth the price (we paid over EUR600 per night). The good news is that the rooms are being refurbished and in the future the hotel will (hopefully) look more modern.
This hotel also charges a pretty penny for reserving loungers at the swimming pool, which is very stingy for a property at this price point.

Breakfast was served at the top floor, with nice sea views. The buffet was decent, but worse than other Fairmonts around the world offer. Nothing was of particularly high quality but all the essentials were there: fruits, boulangerie items, made to order eggs, cheese and cold cuts, etc. The coffee could be better, as it was very weak.

Service at the hotel was a complete hit-or-miss. The bellmen were friendly and efficient and quickly assisted us with our luggage when we arrived at the hotel. Housekeeping was also very thorough – and we were given a cake and a bottle of (good) champagne as gifts to celebrate our special occasion. The concierge was also efficient and knowledgeable. On the other hand, service at breakfast was very slow – our eggs and coffee always took forever to arrive. And upon checking in, the front desk associate muttered something about my wife not being “a real Italian” when she presented our passports (as hers was issued by an Italian consulate overseas, located in the same country that issued my passport). Even if we (generously) assume it to be an attempt at making a joke, this was still inappropriate, unacceptable and borderline racist.

Lastly, this hotel offers valet parking, but the pricing is way too high. One can literally park for less than half of that price in the public parking lot a few hundred metres away.

In conclusion, if we were to return to Monte Carlo, we would probably pick another hotel. Again, this isn’t your typical Fairmont – but it is priced as if it was. So considering that, the ancient rooms and the issues with the front desk, we’d look elsewhere.

I am lying on the cot in my second room at the hotel pondering whether or not to do this review. Hotel bought on secret excape, so it had to be a bargain for 350 euros per night, which turned out to be obsolete and with common areas stained peeling and sad. The first room, with a retractable bed, where no one informed us that an anonymous remote control had to be used so after having repeatedly asked, before going out, that the bed be pulled down and that the toilet found dirty externally with pee be cleaned, at Hours 1.30 at night, with a bottle and some chocolates on offer to be honest, we were still standing waiting for someone to fix it. The room does not reflect what we read on secret excape, where instead they show a photo of an aesthetically nice room to make you take the bait. I repeat the concept it had to be a bargain. The usual scripted breakfast morning because they are not equipped and have no idea what a vegan breakfast is. At the reception the girl who checked us in had been informed of my food needs and replied: "yes we are prepared just say it in the morning and she will have no problems", and she said it almost as if it were obvious, so I take note and trust. The morning after No croissant ,cake ,plum cake , pancakes etc. only bread (vegan?) . Arrived after half an hour a juice and now icy cappuccino and only fruit and vegetables not even offered at the beginning. So I decide to complain because come on ... With that amount we went somewhere else! Forget access to the tiny terrace with swimming pool that is impracticable with no respect for the covid 19ndistancing. Even if it is included in the package sold on secret excape, it is always Full… like me! Definitely not recommended especially for the incompetence and arrogance in defending the ignorance shown in the kitchen where in 2021 everywhere but especially in hotels of this kind in a place like Principato di Monaco can no longer be admitted. The customer is always right if he comes to complain because he does not receive what is offered. But two people Carla and Valentino make me spend an abundant hour at the sea without paying the expected 50 euros, …not indicated anywhere ….and let me move to another room , giving me one with exposure to the sun, and not inside underground ,as the first, which turns out to be an upgrade as it also has a sea view. But only one sun beds. It takes very little to avoid ruining a holiday and commit 5/6 people to manage a situation that is very avoidable. Ps. The second day I had pancakes… but the bread was out.

I was there for a conference. I lost my gold status on Accor just a bit before. So on check in i was offered a very dirty (see pics) room with bad smell and very used looking furniture. Especially the carpet was tremendously dirty.
After 30 mins of discussion i was offered a better room ( I had to mention that i will check out if nobody takes care about that). The second room was ok, but in 10 mins walking distance to the main facilities.

On check out day the receptionist charged the rooms double. So instead of three nights, they charged me 6 nights on two of my credit cards. However they could not refund the money back as they have a policy in place to keep the money for 14 days. 3 months later the hotel still did not refund the money to me. It took more than 15 Emails to finally get a refund. No real apology no real compensation for all the anger and time and energy i had to use to chase them for my money.

Summary: The only thing that is high class is their room rate and arrogant behaviour. Very poor management, used and dirty rooms. I recommend Hotel de Paris and Le Meridien instead. These two hotels know how to treat their guests and how to keep the rooms and facilities clean. And beside that they do not try to betray their guests and charge them double.

Dear Sir, Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us regarding your previous stay at the Fairmont Monte Carlo. I was really sorry to hear that you’ve had the poor experience during your stay. Indeed, any event taking place at the hotel should not have affected your stay with us to the extent you have described. This is certainly not indicative of the high level of service for which Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is renowned. It is our goal to exceed our guests’ expectations and please allow me to express my sincerest apologies for not fulfilling this commitment to you. Please rest assured that we will take the appropriate measures and the necessary follow up regarding all points that you've mentionned above, in order to prevent any future occurrence. I previously stayed at the Fairmont Monaco in August 2020 and did not have the best of experiences, however, following consideration from Mr Ariel the General Manager, I decided to give the hotel anther try accompanied with my friend.
What a difference in 2 years, yes the hotel is undergoing major refurbishment and some of the corridor carpets do require replacing. We stayed in a signature seaview room on the 6th floor, the room was large, comfortable, spotlessly clean with beautiful views of the ocean from the balcony. There is a major building project taking place next to the hotel, however, although we looked onto the side of the project we were not particularly bothered with the noise.
Staff in all areas were outstanding from the lovely porter when we arrived, excellent and helpful gentleman on front of house, Clara who assisted us at breakfast and went above and beyond to look after 2 mature ladies, to the lady who serviced our room, all were courteous, considerate and helpful.
We ate in the NOBU restaurant and the lobby restaurant, both meals were excellent and service outstanding.
We used the pool which was empty up until about lunch time, once again staff in Nikki beach were helpful and considerate.
The hotel is central and easy walking distance to Casino Square ( just meters away) and the Metroplex centre. There is a great bus service directly outside the hotel.
In all we had a fabulous stay thank you to the attentive staff.
My friend and I are already making plans to return to the hotel.
Thank you Mr Ariel and your team for making our stay so special.

I gave 2 stars for the location: great view to the sea but the services are bad.
I paid 800 euros for the room and they take from you 800 more euros for guarantee?! I never paid the same price as the room for a stupid guarantee! Not in Dubai, Vegas or Asia. They usually just ask for your credit card or maximum 100-200 euros. And guess what, they never tell you about this before. Also, when you check out you have the surprise to find that you pay 240 euros for parking!! 60 euros per day! I m client of the hotel, why should I pay for parking? Why you never mentioned about this when I checked in, when i parked my car?
The breakfast is very poor. They will serve you some croissants, coffee, fruits and orange juice. Like I’m a child. If you want eggs, cheese, ham, vegetables, you have to pay extra.
Nobu was nice and great view. The room is okay but you can tell its an old building. No renovation.
They try to make you pay for everything. Overall the hotel is ok but no professional behaviour. I’m in Monte Carlo, I pay a lot of money so I expect the best. Nothing like that in Fairmont.

Dear Madam, First, I would like to thank you for choosing Fairmont Monte Carlo for your last stay in the Principality of Monaco. I am sorry that your experience did not completely meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. At Fairmont Monte Carlo, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. First, I sincerely apologize if the guarantee procedure has tarnished your arrival at our hotel and thank you for bringing this to our attention. Please kindly note that this procedure is in place in different hotels in Monte Carlo. The guarantee asked upon check-in for the room + 200 euros per night for any incidentals is not a debit but a pre-authorization on the guest’s credit card which blocks the corresponding amount on the bank account. Thus, this blocked amount is not immediately debited but can be either used upon check-out for the bill settlement or released if the guest wishes to pay with a different payment method. Our website also clearly mentioned that a deposit as guarantee is requested upon arrival : https://www.fairmont.com/monte-carlo/travel-tools/factsheet/ Regarding the parking, please kindly note there are parking facilities around the hotel for self-parking (less than 5 mn walking). Our fee includes the valet parking and the convenience of having your car in a secured place and at easy reach. Please kindly note that our parking price is similar to other Monaco hotels and the tarriffs are clearly mentionned on our website and the different online travel agencies. Concerning the breakfast, please kindly note that due to the current sanitary measures, we cannot unfortunately offer our buffet breakfast formula. However, we decided to offer different breakfast flexible options. Dear Madam, I apologize again and sincerely hope to welcome you back in a near future. In the meantime, the Fairmont Monte Carlo team remains at your disposal for any further information. Best regards, Alexandre Ariel - Hotel Manager

Sorry, I don't recall specific vegan/gluten-free options; doesn't mean they weren't there , I just don't remember them. However, my experience of the reception staff was they are extremely helpful, and spoke excellent English. Maybe you could call them? They all seemed very genuine and keen to assist.

Not cheap as you are in Monte-Carlo but maybe not as expensive as you would think. Highly recommend the breakfast buffet. Great food and amazing views out to sea.

Yes they have both, and a nespresso coffee machine. Pool is on the 7th floor and is an outside pool, it is glorious, and there is a steam and sauna in the changing rooms. There is also a quite well equipped gym.
