Arrived in Melk without a reservation - Was very impressed with the personal attention with our booking from the owner - The room was great! A lovely balcony position overlooking a wonderful old cobbled town square and a short walk to shops, restaurants and the beautiful Abbey just up the hill behind the hotel. The room had a very stylish... More

This was one of the best hotel locations on our 3-week trip through Austria and Germany. The car access and free parking were easy, the square and streets are charming, and the walk to the abbey took only 10 minutes. Our room was very stylish and good size. The breakfast was good (only time on the trip that smoked salmon... More

Hotel run by two Frenchmen at the central square of the little town Melk. There are several restaurants and bars nearby and until about 11pm there is a lot going on but later everything is as quiet as in the countryside. The room was nice and comfortable, although prices are rather high. As for breakfast some strange choices could be... More

I heard the hotel is just being renovated, When we were there it was already run down. Breakfast was very poor, the table messy and almost empty. The waitress brought us some ham on a plate, we tried to ask for fried eggs, but she told the staff had no time. I don't know what were they doing in the... More

Hotel Stadt Melk is a good choice for those arriving by train: it is an easy 10 minute downhill walk from the station and sits directly in the center of the main square. That said, the hotel is a bit worn and lacks certain amenities, but for a few nights it is quite decent. Beware: there are no elevators and... More

My husband and I arrived early but managed to store our baggage at the hotel while we had a walk around this delightful town. The hotel itself is quaint and very clean. My only criticism would be that the shower (over bath) was very small. The shower curtain would stick to your body during the shower it was that snug.... More

I found the hotel online and stayed for one night. It's in a great location on the town square, close to the train station and a short climb up to the abbey. The staff was friendly and helpful and the complimentary breakfast was nice; the typical European spread. The mattress was a little uncomfortable but overall it was a great... More

The people who run this hotel are very welcoming, and the property very nice, but I can hear EVERYTHING through the walls (even quiet conversations, sneezing, coughing, etc). I had been assured it would be a quiet room. When I went to find someone to see if we could switch to another room, no one could be found, and then... More

We arrived by chance. The town is lovely. The hotel location is goid but noisy as room overlooked the town square. There is no aircondition, no fan and not enough ventilation of room. Room is of a good size, quite modern and clean. Breakfast was not too rich. Owner very friendly and good English speaker. No lift.
