We took the train from Vienna to Hallstatt then a short ferry ride which landed at the hotel. We checked in with ease and then we were escorted to our rooms, away from the main hotel, another off site location. Make sure you note exactly where you room is as the corridors to get to the room can be confusing. The rooms were large for European standards and very clean. The breakfast buffet was wonderful as well as our dinner at the main hotel. Food and service were excellent not to mention the views too!
Exceptional food, location and views worth the money.

request for a full lake view and you won't regret it. the view across the lake was stunning at different part of the day. located just next to the ferry jetty which made it easy for us to take the train back to Vienna. room is perfect size, not too small and could fit two large luggage with enough space to walk around. room heats up fast which we appreciated given the snowing weather.

there is not kettle in the room. hot water ordered is 2 euro per small flask. supermarket is about 10 to 15 minutes walk away, but you can enjoy the scenery as you walk and explore the town.

hotel shuttle to carpark P1 is only for hotel guests who drive. we were denied the hotel shuttle and had to pay 10 euros for a taxi back to hotel from carpark P1. We decided to just walk and enjoy the scenery.

service could be better. the two gentlemen staff at the breakfast could use a nicer tone to speak to people and be more patient. all staff could use a little more smiles. the hotel is very strict on the checking in time - 3pm, which is fine with us as we could leave our luggage with them when we arrived early. however there was some miscommunication which left us rather upset and annoyed. The person at the reception checked us in at 3pm and passed us the room key. When we went up to our room, housekeeping staff were STILL cleaning our room and we were made to wait outside our room for about 15 minutes. We could have waited downstairs at the reception if they let us know earlier that our room was not ready.

overall, the room is perfect with the lake view. but given the amount we paid, we expected better service.

We stayed in House Stocker and were blown away by the sheer age and imposing facade. We were disappointed with the room. We were on the first floor and there was no heritage feel to the room, just felt like cheap furniture and fittings. I would have liked to see more historical information about the building, maybe some heritage furniture or anything to give more character to a fabulous old building. Don’t try to check in early, the time us strictly enforced by the front desk who takes this very seriously and with no humour. No curtain on the Lounge window in clear view of the hordes of people walking past. Take care that other guests lock the front door as there seems to be no other security. Food in the main dining room room were very reasonable.

We had the most terrible experience at this hotel, in all senses. After deciding on splurging to be in a great location in Hallstat, we ended up wasting our money. The hotel was a complete nightmare:
1. We decided to splurge in this hotel to be in a good location and description said it had parking available, so we thought it would be convenient, as we had a lot of luggage. Well guess what: you have to park on the outskirts of town, unload your luggage, carry it to a bus stop and wait 15 minutes for the town shuttle, who will take you close to the entrance of the hotel.
2. When we got in at around noon, the hotel front desk clerk, a South American girl, did not even bother to see if she had any rooms ready. She just told us check-in was at 3pm and we could store our luggage and come back.
3. After finally being able to check in, we were told that our rooms were in a building close by. So we thought it would be adjacent to the main building. But no, it was a good 10 minute walk, on a back street, and there was not even an elevator for the steep set of stairs we encountered. We absolutely refused to stay there, as we had an older relative with us and we did not want to have to be walking 10 minutes to get to the main facilities a d restaurant.
4. Upon our refusal, the same front desk clerk acceded to find us rooms in the main facility, but gave us terrible rooms, even though we had paid For superior rooms with lake view. My room was a corner room apparently for disabled persons, with a moldy shower floor (see picture), and a terrible service hallway with the dirtiest and rundown carpet I have even seen (look at picture). On top of that, the lake view we had paid for had the town ferry sitting right in front, so you could barely see the lake (see picture).
5. This is an expensive hotel but it doesn’t even have air conditioning. We were lucky to be there on a cool day, but I cannot imagine a summer day there.
All in all, this has been the worst value we have ever gotten for a hotel. Facilities and customer service are indifferent and horrible. You will be better off staying at some very nice guest houses dosn the street, at less than half the price this hotel charges.

We made a last minute trip to Hallstatt and all of the best rooms of this hotel were already booked, but the one we got was comfortable. The receptionists were pleasant and helpful, though the general problem of parking for Hallstatt is a headache, and the hotels don't do much to make it easier. Location of the hotel is of course good, but the staff of the restaurant were unfriendly, inefficient, or both - except for one young woman who always had a smile on her face, and brought the various items that the other waiters habitually forgot to bring us. Breakfast was sufficient, if not amazing. We'd go back, but eat somewhere else.

Stayed here for 1 night, and it was a great expeirence. Hotel responded helpfully to my email enquiry. Front desk was always helpful and friendly. The restaurant food was excellent, actually. Location was great -- just a few metres from the lake where the ferry from the train station docks. Getting a room was in the main building, instead of their other location (they have a total of 3) was a plus.

Things to improve: 1. bottled water was very expensive. I'm sure tap water is fine, as I was told by the front desk, but when you're travelling you tend to be a liitle extra cautious. 2. Restaurant staff were not very friendly at times. Part of that probably comes from dealing with hordes of tourists unfamiliar with the food and culture. The excellent food mostly made up for it though.

Visiting from New York. I love that this hotel is directly from the ferry that takes you to the trains as taxi aren’t allowed go into the city, the ferry is the best mode of transportation to take you to the train and it’s only across the river and it’s less than a 10 mins ride. The balcony view is amazing, but if your neighbors are out on the balcony too you will be uncomfortably close to them. I also love that they provide loccitane brand toiletries. They have an extensive all you can eat breakfast buffet and can eat outside on a nice day. The front desk were really helpful and kind.

This hotel was fantastic. Our room had view of the lake and it was stunning. The floors are heated throughout which is a nice touch given the ever cold temperatures in this town. The room was very spacious, clean and very quiet. The widows opened for a nice breeze. The breakfast was a buffet which during pandemic did not seem safe so we passed on the free breakfast offered. There is no pandemic measures at this hotel just like the rest of Austria, no masks, sanitizer or distancing. The hotel is in the old town near the square and requires you to park at the entrance of town and take the free shuttle to the hotel.

A very beautiful hotel. Sitting on the balcony and looking at the lake feels so beautiful.

Everything in the breakfast is delicious, and the staff are diligent in refilling it.

Since my driver only drove into the restricted area on the day of check-out, I asked the reception staff to arrange a shuttle service to take us and our heavy luggage to the parking location. However, the staff said that they did not have a driver, so there was no such service and asked us to walk, it used to take just over ten minutes. The next day, I saw in the elevator that there was a shuttle service, which only required an appointment, so I asked another receptionist about it, and she naturally answered me that yes, I just needed to make an appointment with them earlier that day. Fortunately, we were able to arrange shuttle service on the day we left.

There are coffee machine, hair dryer, shampoo, shower gel, and hand wash gel provided. 1 bottle of still water and 1 bottle of sparking water are provided.

Stayed one night with my wife and 6 year old.
We drove from Munich (3 hours drive) and arrived around 7pm.
The only drawback of the hotel, is the long walk from the carpark to the hotel. So i suggest you repack whatever you need in 1 luggage and leave the rest in the car! Otherwise my suggestion would be to park at P1 and take the shuttle bus. I made the mistake of parking at P2. Parking overnight would cost around 15 euros

The hotel is right next to the jetty so if you are arriving by boat that would be the most convenient.

The room had a good view of the mountain and lake.
Breakfast was crowded but had delicious bacon and sausages. My son enjoyed the cornflakes.

Overall a good stay.

Apologies. Didn’t realize that you’ll be staying at the Heritage. Taking the train will require you to take the ferry but the where the ferry docks is just outside the hotel. Taking the bus depends on where you’re alighting but most drop their passengers off at the tourist info centre and you’ll have to walk in with your luggage or take a cab.
