We stayed at Gastof Hirlatz for 2 nights in June and had a great time. The hotel is in a very quiet location overlooking the mountains and by the stream and the staff were very friendly. We had a triple room on the second floor with a small terrace and the views of the surrounding mountains were very beautiful. It... More

This small hotel has been in same family for 5 generations and they take great pride. Very family feeling. It is at the edge of town but away from daily tourist onslaught. The receptionist from Liverpool behind the desk is the true gem!! Super helpful if you don't speak German. The dinners were very good, home cooked and tasty. I'd... More

I would highly recommend Gasthof Hirlatz, my girlfriend and I recently spent a few nights there and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is situated in a scenic, quiet location approximately 10 minutes walk from the centre of Hallstatt and as such is perfect for exploring the area on foot as we did. Our room was clean, spacious and suited... More

We would like to recommend this cozy, pleasant, quiet place! We actually didn't know what to expect and were surprised for the best. The room is big and very clean, the view was absolutely breathtaking. The hostesses were nice and helpful and we had a great time. Thank you!

I can't believe its taken me almost 9 months to submit this review, but better late than never. We traveled in Austria for 2 weeks last summer, staying in Vienna, with friends in Amstetten, Salzburg, and finally Hallstatt. While it had been sunny and over 100 F everywhere else, Hallstatt was rainy and in the 70's. When we arrived, it... More

Others have complained about the party that happened during our stay. Yes, it was loud, yes it was unexpected (as was the fact that the restaurant was closed during our stay, forcing us to walk into town every time we wanted to eat). However, in the spirit of adventure and unexpected surprises, we shrugged our shoulders and made friends with... More

The Gasthof was just wonderful. I quiet oasis away from the hubub of the main town with gorgeous views. It was a lovely 20 minute walk into the town. Thankfully, it wasn't built on the side of the mountains there like so many of the others are. The room was clean and quiet. We ate dinner there one night and the... More

Our last night at this hotel turned out to be a nightmare. We were out during the day, and upon returning in late afternoon, we found notice at the door saying "Today we will have a closed event, where they will play music... it's going to be loud even after 10 pm." Nice warning, but would make far more sense... More

Nice, friendly and helpful staff at this Gasthop. The room for our 2 night stay was very quiet with a small balcony facing the mountains. (It's hard not to have this view in Hallstatt!) Room was average in size with the bathroom having a smallish bath. Wi-Fi connection was pretty poor compared to what we have experienced at previous locations... More
