Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Super great staff, nice location, clean and comfortable hotel! We were able to check in early and given a map of things to see and do around the area. Our room was very clean and comfortable... weird to walk outside to our room but not problem even in the light rain. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious and I would eat there again. The restaurant was quite busy but we were well attended to. The complimentary drink was a special treat. They had English option menu as well. The salad was beautiful and filling, the chicken curry and young beef meals were excellent. We were able to borrow robes from the desk to use the spa facilities which were very nice and relaxing sauna, infrared room, relax room, and showers. The included breakfast buffet was very nice as well. I would definitely stay here again.

All in all, a very good experience, from checking in on the day we arrived to when we left.
However, two issues prevented me awarding this as an ‘excellent’ stay. They were 1) the original online line booking process was flawed whereby we couldn’t complete the credit card transaction online despite using perfectly valid cards, and 2) the evening meal service and quality of food on our first evening was distinctly average, and expensive for what was on offer!
These two issues marred an otherwise enjoyable stay.

This is a nice hotel, fairly central. Even though we only had a standard room, it was quite spacious. The staff were very friendly, breakfast was a really good buffet. It was a bit on the pricey side though in my opinion.

The hotel appears quite new and modern with its own car parking which was useful. We booked a superior double room which consisted of two single beds pushed together. The room we were in (205) was extremely hot when we arrived and put it down to possible having not been used for a few days and it had the windows shut. However, we noticed that one of the walls was very warm and was acting like a radiator and it didn’t change during our 3 night stay. It is centrally located and is within walking distance of the town centre.

Very friendly staff. Excellent service. Superior double room very spacious even for us two who always take the kitchen sink on holiday. BR prices very reasonable for a hotel. Also an excellent location for the lake activities and also the cable car.

I stayed here for a weekend in October. I arrived late in the evening after taking the train from Vienna. It was pouring down rain when I arrived, and wasn't looking forward to trying to locate the hotel in the dark. But to my surprise it was very easy - with the help of a smart phone gps. It was less than 10 minute walk from the train station. Even that late in the evening, there was still someone on duty waiting for my arrival.

The hotel was very clean and bright. My room was located on the top floor (with elevator access). The room felt a litte like a dorm room - with a low futon mattress, and European bedding (comforter which reaches the edges of the mattress). The bathroom was large with a small walk-in shower - but lots of hot water and great water pressure. Not a lot of shelf-space for toileteries, but I made do by leaving most everything in my suitcase in the room. My room had a nice-sized balcony which looked in the direction of the train station.

The breakfast at the hotel was superb and plentiful. The staff was exceedingly helpful and wanted to ensure your stay was comfortable. the hotel was a convenient 5 minutes walk to the trail leading up the mountain (or the gondola if you preferred). It was also close to the shopping area, although most was closed on the Sunday I was there.

I was a guest for five days in October. My room on the second floor was very small, overlooked the rooftop lounge and was next to that exit door. It was noisy and smelly; the ashtray was under my window! Closing the window didn't help; it was hot and humid and there was no air conditioning!!!

Rooms and bathrooms are very sparse with wood floors and little furniture. Stall showers. The bed was uncomfortable.

A breakfast buffet is included. Food was standard Central European fare. I had dinner in the restaurant one night - nothing special and service left a lot to be desired.

There is a computer in the lobby, which is just two chairs in a space in front of the reception desk. Wifi doesn't exist.

In-room tv was virtually useless - not an English speaking international news station in sight.

I had a very scary experience during my stay when a guest's dog bit me while I was in the lobby. Staff did nothing to help.

On the positive side, my room was very clean. Its one block from the main road and Lake Constance. The post office and grocery are right down the street. The main train station is a ten minute walk, or the commuter train is right down the street.

I am so disappointed! I lived in Bregenz as a college student more than thirty years ago and was looking forward to enjoying my return. Perhaps Germania provides better service during the theatre season when tourists are abundant.

I would not stay here again. It was just awful and there are other choices in town. Don't waste your money!!!

Went to see Carmen at the Bregenzer Festspiele and booked this hotel for one night based on the good reviews in TA. Our room (Superior Double Room) was nice, clean and big enough to fit an extra bed for our daughter. However, we weren't to impressed with the friendliness of the staff. Not what we're used to in Austria. The breakfast was good. The plus of this hotel ist the free parking and it's closeness to the lake and Bregenzer Festspiele (walking distance).

Dear TripAdvisor-Member! With regret we read your constructive criticism and are really sorry that you didn't feel as welcome as you used to in Austria. We insure that this is not our standard and we already talked this through with the staff and improved our communication. However we assure that this was an individual case that we do regret honestly! It would be an honour to welcome you again at the Hotel Germania to ensure you that this is not our standard. Once again we want to say thank you for your feedback, which is very important for us, to improve ourselves and make sure to serve the highest standards. With kind regards from beautiful Lake Constance, Anna Tiefenbrunn Front Office

I've spent just one night at the hotel as I was on my way to Salzburg.
The hotel is nice (although not superb) with cosy and spacious rooms.
Contrary to some reviews I had seen, staff and service at the hotel weren't that good,
Service at the restaurant is friendly but inefficient: although we had made a reservation for dinner and we've arrived on time, our table had been occupied and we had to wait 40 min for another one. Food served was good but service level (again) wasn't up to the task (too long intervals between plates and a lackluster advice on wines).
Being close to the cable car ("Pfanderbahn") is a plus point, but the management should do a much better job, improving the service quality level on offer.

Dear TripAdvisor-Member, first of all we want to say thank you for your feedback. With regret we read your constructive criticism and already talked this through with our service staff to ensure an efficient service for our guests. We insure that this is not our standard. We have certain procedures in a four star hotel in Austria to fulfill. However we assure that this was an individual case that we do regret honestly!
