Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

This is my third time here at the hotel. I had a lovely room with beautiful views on the 5th floor. Really good location. Service is fantastic. Will definitely come back again next year. Perfect business trip stay. Breakfast is beautiful and elegant.

Dinner at 1870 restaurant. Part of Musikverien concert package. Elegant and beautiful interiors reminiscent of old world charm. Impeccably courteous service! Polite and gracious staff with etiquette of a higher order. Delicious food.. presented extremely well. A sweet Austrian wine suggestion by a staff member proved amazing!- Welschreisling beerenauslese 2018 Burgenland- the staff member was kind enough to write down the name for me after having partaken of the sweet wine!! An excellent experience- one of the few that I had in Vienna- with polite gentlemen !

We had a lovely stay at the Grand Hotel Wein. We actually did not look at other hotels for our visit and the look of the hotel from it's pictures and the location ticked all of the boxes. We stayed at the Grand Hotel Wein from the 12th - 17th February. We were greeted by the friendly doorman who took us to toward reception. The feel of the hotel when you step in to the hotel is Wow! That instant feeling you are in good hands. Franziska checked us in, she was super friendly and polite. The check in process was swift and she also gave us the map of part of one section of Vienna which was a nice touch. Franziska showed us to the elevator to our room. We booked ourselves a premium room which is lovely! The bed was big, lovely and comfortable. The bathroom was spotless and also had the wow factor, with a double sink vanity, the bath was lovely during our stay. The toilet and the separate bidet had a separate door which is a nice touch. The facilities in the room were good, though the cups were different sizes and there was no milk in the room. We used the hot water from the coffee machine as there was no kettle in the room. Day 1 - we slept like a log. Excellent! The breakfast staff were amazing. I definitely recommend having an early breakfast (quieter time) like we did. the team are all attentive, friendly and polite. The Eggs Benedict with salmon was my favourite and I could have ordered cappuccino's by the dozen! We did not use the facilities in the hotel but we peeked through to see the gym and spa- and it looked great! We were about 2 minutes away from Café Schwarzenberg and minutes away again is the St Stephen's Cathedral, so it's perfectly located. We dined at one of the two hotels restaurants 1870 which was very sophisticated. The dining experience was superb and it's worth while getting dressed smart. We were dressed smart casual but could have dressed up a little more from what others had worn. The Veal Schnitzel was amazing (my first time trying this) and the staff here, like the other staff in hotel, were knowledgeable, friendly and polite. We loved staying here and would stay here again, when we return. Vienna - a relaxed, friendly place. Thank you.

Our fourth stay in this outstanding hotel. The rooms are lovely and spotless, the personnel are attentive and helpful. The location is incomparable, with 5 minutes from the Staatsoper and various concert venues such as the Kursalon and Annakirche. The lobby's lounge restaurant is luminous and looks out on the Kärtner Ring, so we watched the world go by while having a drink and snack. Breakfast is superb: plentiful, authentic, Viennese to the core. The Grand Hotel is indeed a haven of hospitality. Highly recommended.

the hotel makes you feel as if you were arriving there to attend a ball. huge, luxurious and simple at the same time giving everything an air of early victorian / biedermeier environment. the rooms are amazing and the beds extra comfortable. the breakfast is glorious and the personnel is attentive and seek your comfort at all times. special thanks go to dimitar from the front desk, who welcomed us and sorted our rooms expeditiously. the location is wonderful for walkers and not so walkers alike as there's an underground station nearby. simply the richest, most rewarding hotel experience I had the chance to live. ps: I beg you to try the grand egg benedict at breakfast.

This hotel is perfectly located and very grand. We also received a free upgrade which was lovely. But when did it become impossible to have a cup of tea in a hotel! Coffee machine provided but no kettle. Therefore only way to make hot water was in coffee machine which tasted of coffee - very odd and despite numerous requests and visiting the bar, reception and the red no one could provide hot water let alone cold milk unless I was prepared to pay 5euros for a room service or restaurant drink 👎

We visited for a 7 night stay, last October (I submitted a detailed 5* Tripadvisor review), and received such an overwhelmingly positive experience that we simply had to return for another 7 nights! The very attentive team had suggested January would be a good time to return and they were so right! On arrival, we were immediately greeted by Luis, who recognised us from our former stay and warmly welcomed us. We were allocated an amazing suite; beautiful and spacious, with our IHG membership benefits etc. He also took time to check on our enjoyment, throughout our stay. He and his colleagues attended to our every need: securing dinner reservations; making recommendations; arranging transport and generally making us feel most valued as guests. There are too many individuals to thank, personally, the entire reception team is dedicated to delivering a great experience and we knew that any one of them would go the extra mile to assist us! but I commend Luis so much for his special attention- he even provided his email address so that he can ensure everything is in place for our next stay. This is a beautiful hotel, we have stayed at other, impressive 5* hotels, in Vienna, which were very good indeed but The Grand Hotel is, for us, the very best- if I could award more than 5* I would! For this reason, they have secured our loyalty and future patronage (we are already planning our next stay!) As I highlighted on my previous review, in October, the beauty and elegance of this establishment is most impressive. The aesthetics are stunning! Breakfast excellent, another fine team, great array of hot and cold food and beautiful surroundings. Housekeeping is great and the rooms are elegant and well maintained. There is so much to see in Vienna that, even though we have been several times before, every time we find new things to do. For me, this time, the opera on the Saturday evening, was divine. Also, thanks so much to Gentjan, whose recommendation to observe the sunset, over Vienna, from a mountainside restaurant was a real highlight. He even arranged transportation for us, thanks Gentjan! In conclusion, I could not recommend this hotel highly enough. The pride the teams take in their work is evident, I believe management recognise this and regularly check on guest enjoyment. Bravo!

Royal-style hotel with collective pieces of furniture and excellent details. Very centrally located and spotlessly clean. Staff was fantastic throughout the hotel. Been upgraded into a bigger room - felt like a suite in a Palace! Loved the bed linen and the dimmable bedside lamps. All the In-room amenities were provided and everything of good quality. The pianist at the lobby was creating the best ambiance for such a hotel lobby! Breakfast was tasty and we also had sushi dinner which was also very good! Definitely recommended!

The service/staff is amazing. The airport lost both my boss and my luggage and the concierge went out of their way to get it found and delivered for us. Luis Zsalek helped my boss get her luggage and one of mine. There was another concierge who helped me get my 2nd lost bag (I did not get his name). Everyone at the front desk was extremely professional and helpful. They even gave me chocolates once all my luggage was found. The rooms were nice and clean. The shower was amazing as well. Grand Hotel Wein is a wonderful place to stay!
