My husband and I stayed in Hotel Stefanie for our first wedding anniversary. The Staff were lovely and extremely helpful. They had a wonderful welcome gift of a bottle of prosecco and a chocolate cake ready in our room for our arrival. The hotel has a lot in its favour as well as the helpful staff. It was really quiet... More

As they say, Hotel Stefanie is the oldest hotel in Vienna. For sure there is plenty of marvellous tradition in the hotel - beautiful old furniture, pieces of art, engravings, silver and china displayed, but also the very pleasant staff and its elaborated ways - and the butler´s moustache - never seen such a wonderful artefact before... Obviously rooms are... More

This is a lovely traditional Viennese hotel which has been maintained to a very high standard. We had a nice surprise when we arrived as we had been upgraded to a newly refurbished suite on the 4th floor which was very nicely decorated, clean and spacious. The staff were extremely friendly and were more than happy to help with our... More

Very helpful and friendly reception staff. As we booked in, we were given maps of Vienna and leaflets on a number of attractions. We arrived at the hotel very early - around 12:30 pm, but our room was ready and our cases taken up for us. Very smart room, with plenty of cupboard space and a safe. Extremely clean Bathroom... We are just sat in the airport after a lovely 3 nights at Hotel Stefanie, where the oldest hotel in Vienna delivered on historic charm and where nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is conveniently located for all the main sights and transport. We got the CAT train from the airport (also v good) and walked to the hotel... More

We enjoyed a lovely 4 night stay at the Hotel Stefanie recently. The location was excellent, a pleasant 15 minute stroll to the city centre and an easy walk to the Giant Ferris wheel. Our room was a standard double courtyard room which was quite basic, but very comfortable. The staff were all excellent and the breakfast was amazing. The... More

We have just spent a week here and would definitely recommend this hotel. It is just a little walk out of the centre of Vienna - just over the bridge - but we bought ourselves a weekly tube ticket so with the tube station being just over the bridge, we had no problems getting to all the sights we wanted... My family and I surveyed about 39 hotels before settling on Hotel Stefanie, and we were very happy we selected it. Our room is excellent and the hotel itself is just the size we wanted--big enough to have a nice restaurant and bar, but not too big. Breakfast is free and very good. We had dinner one evening at the... More

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.

Today, the hotel-only a few minutes' walk from the 1st district, the historic centre of Vienna -presents itself as a successful combination of old and new. 120 Stylish rooms with air conditioning and WLAN (free of charge), three conference rooms (total capacity of 200 persons), as well as the restaurant 'Stefanie' form the framework for a pleasant stay in Vienna.
