Conveniently close to the red light district and sex shops. Dirty unmade beds. Bins overflowing with rubbish. Pillows stinking of the last guests perfume.I complained to the staff. Nothing was done we had to sleep in dirty unmade beds. Really nobody cares. I tried to complain when we got back but no answers to me emails or numerous calls. two...

We stayed for 2 nights in september. The receptionist didn't seem to like his job that much, and acted like he wanted to be anywhere else but there. The room was on the first floor and when we got there the room was freezing. We went right to the reception and asked them to turn up the heat, but he...

Stayed for 2 nights and feel okay about it! It is well located, 5 mins from metro station. Staffs are friendly and willing to help when requested :). The hotel itself has some history so it is quite old on design and tangibles. The room is not air-conditioned so it will be quite hot in summer. Despite that the room...

The hotel is alright, and easy to reach, but the are is very sketchy. One of the worst in Vienna. Otherwise, the staff was not very friendly, but not unfriendly either. It's good value for money and clean, but choose a different hotel due to the location.

The front desk guy was extremely rude with a terrible attitude. We were spoken to in an extremely unpleasant tone. We felt that we were being talked down to and were made to feel very stupid. We were shocked at first but we blamed the language barriers; him, instead of apologizing, he offered us to to watch the video recording...

Chose the hotel as it was half way between Vienna Conference centre and City Centre. Shower head was broken (kept tipping down so the water was essentially spraying backwards instead of the person showering), and they Disney fix it OR offer a new room despite us telling them everyday. Relatively clean Short walk to Grocer store and liquor store, and...

A good place to stay when visiting Vienna with a small budget. Hotel Cristall offers good facilities for the money one pays. It is situated at a very convenient location. The metro station Praterstern is about 3-4 minutes walk from this hotel, from where any place including the international airport is accessible easily. The hotel is very close to the...

This hotel has a good location and is close to subway and train stations. The breakfast is a buffet which means that you will have a decent amount of food and good variety. On the downside, there seems to be a problem with hot water (warm at best) and we had two twin beds instead of one (which we requested...

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.

“It is near the train station, hence traveling is helpful. If one is taking a short trip to Vienna one should take 8 days train pass for Vienna. This entitles one to unlimited travel within Vienna but of course, one has to take a single one stop train ticket if coming from the airport as the airport is outside the limits of free travel on the 8 days train pass. S-7 is a direct train to Pratestron, the nearest underground train station to Hotel Cristall (5 minutes walk). The hotel has enough parking area for cars and has a rear lawn where one may sit, smoke, and enjoy the weather. Room on the rear side are quiter.”
