Our family run establishment is only 5 minutes away from the Ringstrasse and lies directly on the metro line U6. The hotel is famous first of all for its excellent service and very rich hot and cold breakfast. The General Hospital and numerous private hospitals, the Viennese Brunnen and Yppen street markets, the Freud museum, Volksoper, Votivchurch, City hall or Palace Gschwandner are also in the walking distance. Because of a good location near the metro line U6 all the places of interest - from Grinzing to Schonbrunn - are easy to reach. The rooms are equipped with minibar, hair dryer, writing case, alarm clock, WiFi, sat-TV, radio, soundproof windows, phone... Classical live music on Sunday breakfast, leafy courtyard, 24 hours open bar with Viennese wines, private SPA or a Nespresso machine in your room are only few of the many extra services we offer, which explain our slogan "3 stars hotel with 4 stars service and 5 stars charm". Our hotel was built in 1901 as a wedding gift and offers for more than 111 years lived hospitality and Viennese tradition, also marked in the successful architectural symbiosis of Art Nouveau with modern elements.

Ottakring
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).

I wish I could rate this place lower. On arrival we registered and showed passports. After a few mins, rather than a room key we received bad news, a problem with the reservation (thanks for nothing, Pavle). No room available. They gave us a taxi ride to another property that

Dear Ty W, I don`t know how to star my answer, without making it look like a searching for excuses... But first of all: I personally apologize, that things went so wrong - it was intended to be TOTALLY different. Yes, we were obliged to book you out. As you booked through a wholeseller, we have no information nor contact data from you and could not get in touch with you in advance, as we would do in such cases (no phone, no mail, no nothing here in the hotel). As we (from personal experience) know, that it is a bit irrtiating having to go to another hotel, we found you a nice, modern, close to town, ...just a really good hotel which we visited just a few month ago. We can 100% recommend this hotel, as it has been redone completely last year with a nice, modern, funky touch. And then: We don`t know where went - We don´t know where the taxi driver brought you to! We of course would not get you a hostel or a bad hotel if alredy there is a issue on our side.... Unfortunately this place did neither call nor inform us (when a guest arrives, telling there should be a reservation from another hotel waiting for him!) at you arrival. We thought that you were happily staying in our nice hotel close to town and enjoying your holidays.... And yesterday we get the no-show invoice of the booked hotel. That is the story. We had no idea of all that you were writing above and had to go through ! We are so sorry for that! I know that this is not of a big help for you, but at least we could tell you, how it all got messed up - and you lost so much of your precious time. Dear Ty W, please accept our apologies for all this going wrong - this is not the way it was organized and planned. We do hope that you will have a more calm and peacefull advent time and wish you -never the less- a merry Christmas! Thank you for your reading how it all happened, Family Kluss

Dear 404 sharp, What a nie praise for Miryam! She was so happy when reading your review! This is so nice of you mentioning her in person! Thank you! These things are always motivating us even more, than we are already! Thank you also for telling other travellers about our good location within town and how easy it is to get literally everywhere in Vienna. About the refurbishments: we currently get a/c in the whole hotel (built in 1854) - what maybe explains, why you see things as dated. In fact we are trying to keep the things as original as we can (floors, ceilings, antique decoration, ...) - where modern comfort allows it. Of course we have also all brand new and modern rooms (another room category, not the one you booked) which would never let you think, that you are in a 162 years old building! Maybe you want to try one of these next time? I am sure you are going to love it! Just book with us directly and you will have all the choice! ...and all the good service you are used to having from us! Looking forward to pampering you again here with us, all the best and Merry Christmas, Family Kluss

Dear Z5871SGchristinem, Thank you very mcuh for your review and for mentioning the many nice touches our hotel offers, such as the friendly staff, the good connection to public transports or the excellent breakfast buffet with plenty of choice! We are happy to know that you enjoyed it! Concerning teh room temperaure: just tell us next time and we will happily send someone up with you to show you how the heating/cooling system works. We also always have extra heaters in the hotel, that we can provide if guest want to have it warmer than the hotel system is programmed to. Just let us know next time! We can solve that within minutes! Thank you also for the hint concerning the bar: I was aleady informed: changes are already been implemented! The location was good right near the train station and plenty of restaurants and bars and only 40min walk to town, however we booked a double room which consisted of two single mattresses pushed together which kept coming apart which left a gap and you would then roll into it. Tw

Dear Narla S, Thank you for your review - though we surely both wish it would have been better. Please accept my apologies, that your stay did not work out the way it should. Sure our (normally exceptionally friendly) staff should have greeted you. Why the cleaning ladies behaved so strangely: i dont know, but i am sorry for that and will fur sure ask around what the reason for such a strange behaviour of not greeting was. Concerning the 2 duvets: this is the way we have our beds in Austria. You might find big single duvets in American chain hotels in Europe as well - but this is not the was your beds are done. The same accounts for the mattresses. We do traditionally not have queen or king size beds. I am sorry that the way of having beds in Central Europe was not the way you are used to. Thank you for mentioning our good location, surrounded by the many bars and restaurants - I am happy to know that you liked it, especially if you were disturbed by the implementing of air condition in the hotel. The company has the order to start not before 9 a.m. I am personally sorry that this improvement work, the talking of our cleaning ladies and the way we have our beds influenced your stay so negatively. We would love you to give us a second chance, to show you how good our nice little boutique hotel normally is! The works should be finished within the next weeks and I will talk to the girls right on Monday - so this should not be an issue anymore. Hoping to welcoming you again with us to show you a different side of our hotel, best regards, Family Kluss

Hi we are staying in here for 5 days, we're thinking of getting the vienna pass has anybody had one and are they worth it? Thanks
Vienna Pass provides free transportation & discount for maaaany attractions and it's only Monday to Sunday. Ιf you are going to visit the majority of those then yes, it's worthy. Keep in mind that most of them are closed on Monday. We also stayed for 5 days but we only bought a weekly transportation card that cost 17e for each and then bought the tickets for the must see museums separately which was cheaper. This is of course what worked for us. I hope I helped you.

What is the best way to get to the hotel from the train station. Thank you
So.. here is a funny story. The tram system was slightly confusing to say the least. We bought a 48 hour transport ticket which could be used on buses too. We got a train for one stop and transferred onto another tram (wrong one) off and on to another (wrong one). Finally, got on a tram and had around a 10 minute walk to the hotel. When we checked in we found that there was a closer tram No. 44 (about five stops from the centre), which we got from Schottentor stop in the centre of town (so get a tram to that stop and get on the No. 44 would be my advice). There is a stop heading back into town centre outside hotel. The tram stops further up the street on the right and it is a few minutes walk back up to the hotel. Enjoy the beautiful city!

Hi I am stopping here in December and wondering how it would be best to get here from the airport????? Thanks I’m advance :)
There's a train (called CAT, you don't have to get out of the airport, follow the green signs, buy a ticket - a single ticket is 11€ as of today) that gets to Wienmitte station in sixteen minutes. That's right in the centre of Vienna. From there there's public transport (in the Wienmitte shopping centre they sell tickets and will tell you which numbers you need). Otherwise you can take a taxi from Wienmitte station.

Are taxis to the Main Train Station available at 5:30 am or 6:00 am? How much is the fare one way to the Main Train Station from the hotel. We are booked in your hotel on the 2nd week of September, Can we request for rooms that have air-conditioner?
Yes, Edith you can book rooms with air conditioner as well as upgraded rooms. We booked through Tripmasters & so we had a standard double room. The upgraded rooms were not available when we reached the hotel. The Reception desk will book you the taxi at any time. We took the taxi to the Westbahnhof station at 6:00am. as we were going to Salzburg. The taxi fare was approx.Euros 10 as far as I remember. The Reception desk will give you an idea of the fare to the Main Station. You will love Vienna !

Hi, I had stayed in your hotel from 13th August, 2018 to 16th August, 2018. I seem to have forgotten an article in your hotel, is there a way I contact you on email for details about this?
I checked out today, but happy to answer a question if it's any use to you
