We recently stayed at the Parkhotel Schonbrunn in Vienna, Austria which is located just across the street from the Schonbrunn Palace. When we arrived, we were disappointed to discover they had given us rooms in the "newer" section, which is really just a glorified motel/hotel type of accommodation. When we asked for the older rooms, they gave us the choice of some absolutely beautiful rooms in the main hotel. Do not get one on the fifth or "renovated" floor as they are just modern, ordinary rooms. We were on the third floor and had lovely rooms with old world charm. The rooms were huge with twin beds and a full bathroom. It was nice to have a tub as so many European accommodations are just with a shower. The rooms were big enough for a sitting area as well with turn of the century furniture. The restaurant to the hotel is quite good and not overly expensive for Vienna prices. The breakfast was served in what appeared to be a ballroom, was buffet style and very large, however also very crowded. This hotel seems to be a favourite among the bus tour crowd, so there were very many people either lined up or already eating their breakfasts when we went there at 8:00am. I would recommend it for a unique experience in a Vienna stay. It is out of the city, in the suburbs, really, but if you plan on going to Schonbrunn, it is very convenient. There is a parking garage next door, which is not run by the hotel and the cost is 19 euros for 24 hours.

We stayed here with our 2 children over Thanksgiving '04 and were completely satified. We recommend this hotel highly.
We had 2 adjoining rooms which were huge. I followed the advice given in a prior review and requested rooms in the "older section" of the hotel, I urge you to do the same.
Our rooms (these you could call apartments) overlooked the front of the hotel, main avenue and Schonbrunn Castle's grounds, but was not in the least bit noisy.
The hotel staff was always helpful and courteous.
The breakfast was more than adequate and better than in most.
The subway station and tram lines are mere yards away, so access to all city sites is excellent.
We'd stay there again.

Close to the underground and Schonbrunn Castle, very friendly staff, good breakfast, good price for Vienna, family friendly. A few little things keep me from giving it 5 stars, but nothing major. I would happily stay again if going back to Vienna.

Sprayed here for one night. Very comfortable beds, clean spacious rooms. Great breakfast. Would definitely stay again. Great value.

The front desk was helpful with a great authentic Viennese restaurant as well.

We choose this hotel based on location and it very to the train station and Schonbrunn Palace and actually we had a great room, we were treated excellent by the staff, excellent breakfast, and it has underground car parking too. The good is that it is close to the train, tourist attractions, and small local restaurants and there is nothing that I remember bad about this hotel.

Room Tip: It has an elevator so just don't choose a room on the main road.

I stayed at Pension Schonbrunn for 4 nights in September 2008. I was meeting a group at the airport on the 5th day so I was all alone at the Pension.

As a woman travelling alone I felt really secure, the staff was the best I could wish for, very polite, very helpful and speaking very good English. They all went out of their way to help me out when I needed something I forgot to bring. They gave me good points as to what to select to do some sightseeing as well as what I should see and not.
Breakfast was the European way which is not like what I eat each day in my Montreal home but it was good and the food was fresh.

I recommend this Bed and Breakfast to any woman travelling alone needing a place to feel secure.

We booked as we were specifically in Wien to attend a concert at Schoenbrunn palace. Easy walking distance, 200m, from the Orangerie! Very friendly staff. Good breakfast. Spacious room. Also easy access to the public transport. City bus outside the door and the "metro" was as close as the palace. Very quiet. Would stay again.
Fascinating old lift and very intimate!

From the moment we checked in everything felt right. Huge bedroom with a sitting area, writing desk and mini bar. Separate toilet and bathroom with a bath. The breakfasts are great, continental style with some healthy options, fruit, yoghurt and lovely breads. The staff are helpful. You can even buy the vienna card here. 72 hours unlimited travel on trains, tram and bus for EUR 19 each. A 2 minute walk to the station, U Bahn Schonbrunn, 5 stops to Karlsplatz where you can change to other lines meant sight seeing was super easy. Quiet neighbourhood, Spar 2 minute walk away and best of all. 5 minute walk up this same street to Schloss Schonbrunn a photographers paradise.

Stayed five nights and the hotel exceeded our expectations. We chose it as it is situated next to Schoenbrunn palace which is a must for a day visit and a few minutes walk to the U-Bahn station which gives easy access to central Vienna. It also has an underground car park which should be booked in advance, this is a real plus in a city where parking is at a premium. The room was large, clean, very comfortable although slightly dated and, as we had requested, overlooked the inner garden which meant it was perfectly quiet. Breakfast was good average and eggs available but had to be requested. Staff were very helpful. For the price it was excellent value and on any return to Vienna this would be my first choice. For an evening meal there is a Wienerwald restaurant two minutes walk down the same street that has a large beer garden with trees and a wide menu with excellent food and huge portions.

We stayed in the pension for 3 nights. The room was very nice, extrermely clean, and quite big. Bed was king-size, I think. Breakfast offered some chhese, ham, few kinds of bread, juices, hot drink and cereals. The variety was not so wide, but it was very filling. The staff was very helpful and marked some points of interest on a map when we arrived. The only disadvantage is the location - very close to Schonbrun park (5 minutes walking) but definitely not a walking distance to the center. However, it's 5 minutes walk also from Schonbrun U-bahn stop, from which it is less then ten minutes ride to the center. The price is extremely cheaper relatively to similar pensions near the city center - so it absolutely makes up for the distance from the center. In overall - it is a very good choice for those who don't mind to be a bit far from the center.

"Ask for a room facing the garden (seems most are such). Attention - in the smaller rooms the double bed (queen size) is in one corner so that the person sleeping toward the wall might have some difficulties getting of the bed without disturbing the other person."
