We've been here for 3 nights and it's been a wonderful stay!! The lovely old couple that checked us in doesn't speak much English but they managed to explain us all the basics and we understood everything. They are always available in case we needed it. We expected a normal hotel double room. What a surprise when we found that... More

While these apartments are in an old building they have been renovated. They are about 400 metres from the nearest U bahn station and about 1200 metres from St Stephens church in the centre of Vienna. Although our apartment was on the ground floor and facing the street we were not disturbed at all by noise during the three nights... More

~Just back last night from 5 night stay at Pension Tal Studios. I was working in Vienna (academic conferences and meetings) so wanted something cheap, cheerful and central. Obviously not a hotel but great to have a kitchenette - microwave, fridge, decent size sink, cupboard and plentiful hot water; shower room/loo etc. Spotlessly clean, brilliant area for transport, very nice... The only thing that is good about this hotel is the proximity to the city center but trust me it's not worth it..!  You can find other hotels with the same price and close to the center as well.  Starting with the old lady in the reception.. She doesn't understand one word in English and even though my friend speaks... More

The check in could use a person who speaks a little English. We knew we were in Vienna and the language is German, but they could at least try to speak some English. The woman who checked us in gave all the instructions in German. It was just hilarious given that we did not understand one word she was saying... More

We stayed for 2 nights. Our room had a microwave, a big fridge, the water in the shower was always immediatelly perfectly hot. Since the room is quite big because of the high ceilings and can get a bit cold, the electric radiator was quite useful when we returned inside from the cold weather in the centre. The room was... These apartments are conveniently situated near an underground station with easy access to the whole of Vienna. Although it looks promising, I would not stay here again for the following reasons: 1) they charge your credit card for the full amount of your stay even if you book several months in advance. This happens even though the booking infornation says... More

Pension Tal proved itself to be a very good place to stay at a very good price (275 EUR for 5 nights). We rented a studio that had a kitchinette and bathroom, very clean, very close to the Schottenring station and also very close to the center of the town (If the street or station name ends in "Ring", it... We were there for 5 nights in room #4. The room was clean and nicely designed. The area around is quiet. There were a fridge, microwave, conditioner, TV and even a phone for free international calls. It is 2 minutes walk to Shottering undeground station and about 7 minutes walk to Stephen platz. There is a bus route («Vienna Airport... More

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
