Nice, air-conditioned room and excellent breakfasts. Front of house staff (except the lady who checked us in) have great trouble smiling - very dour and abrupt. Would not provide an iron - wanted to charge €12.50 to iron 1 or 2 items. The road outside is very busy and hotel parking is extortionate - €15 per night. Bus service to...

Hotel Schild is located in the quiet residential district of Dobling that has lots of great restaurants and Heuringens. The rooms were spacious and relatively clean, although I did find some rubbish underneath the bed. I thought that the bathroom was well sized except that there was a semi used toilet roll, which I wasn't accustomed too seeing. Perhaps environmentally,...

I stayed in this clean hotel located in a quiet, even too quiet area - you wake up at night because of noise from car engines that pass by. The design is average, nothing special (it could use some improvements) but the most important issue was that stuff was friendly and very helpful.

Hotel itself was nice BUT how could you charge the clients twice??? It was something which was unbelievable also the communication with the front desk staff was not swift at all and they I was highly disappointed with such an unprofessionalism from them and even asking for the confirmaiton of the refund was not given to me until today. We had a business trip and we booked this hotel because it was not expensive since there were a lots of us for many days, and since price was reasonable and hotel looked OK we booked it. But, then...

Dear Silvia, Smoking is explicitly forbidden in any of the rooms in Hotel Schild. Nevertheless, you have smoked in the room with your colleagues, and the smoke could be smelled even in the corridor where the room is. The guests who had to occupy the same room after you asked for a room change because the room you had left...

Hotel is on practical location, not in the center, but not so far away that you can not use it as your stay for visiting Vienna. Clean rooms, fair breakfast, few restaurants nearby for dinner with local food.

LOCATION: This hotel is far from city Center (Stephane Platz) but because of good public transportation you can go there easily just after 30 minutes. Bus stop is just 2 minutes by walk and every 3 minutes a bus is coming (up to midnight). There are some good traditional Austrian restaurant near Hotel and you don’t need to come back...

I stayed there for almost two weeks with my family. The room was very spacious and the location is great (at the very edge of Vienna, yet easy public transportation). It is the perfect place to stay if you want to explore the Heurigen tradition (the street is full of them). Staff is variable: some are very friendly (like the...

Location needs a car, but it is very quiet area of Wien. Although you will hardly find a place to park. The breakfast is typical for Austria, and the rooms are big and the beds are comfortable, a little hard, let's say. Internet speed is ok, mini bar has some good wine. Ask for the view rooms, the ones with...

Staying in Dobling

Neighbourhood Profile
Dobling
Vienna’s poshest green leafy suburb is also its most romantic hotspot. Walk up Grinzinger Strasse with its many historic wine taverns. The tops of nearby Nussberg and Reisenberg hills make for great strolls through the vineyards, and the occasional discovery of a hidden winery. Popular local weekend hangouts are Neustift am Walde with even more great wine taverns, and café restaurant Cobenzl, up on Cobenzl hill – fantastic for great vistas of Vienna. The woodland around Kahlenberg has a wonderful and not too strenuous hiking path - just don't forget the insect repellent. If you have adventurous children, take them to Waldseilpark Kahlenberg (forest rope park Kahlenberg). A must-do if you want a taste of the Vienna Woods is a stop at Josefinenhütte next door with its great food, cosy interiors and wonderful outdoor space.
