Stayed for one night due to a sports event. The hotel is located in central Porsgrunn, and has its own parking lot outside.

The room seemed to be newly refurbished. The bathroom was a little worn, but very functional and OK.
Room was very clean and the breakfast was of the good, standard continental kind.

I chose hotel Vic due to its location close to train station (5 minutes walk). Young man in reception was glad and polite. The hotel has seen its best days - or is maybe waiting for new to come, if it will be renovated. The double room was one of the tiniest I have seen outside France. There was a pricelist for minibar, but in real life you had to walk to reception to get a drink or snack. There are many doors and corridors, so carrying your luggage can be annoying. The positive surprise was bathroom. Water pressure in shower was impressive and there was no lack of hot water. Breakfast is better than average and they also serve a complimentary evening meal, which consists of different salads and fish/meat. Vic is located just a couple of steps away from the river bench, where you can also find many beautiful local restaurants.

Normally, I would rate this hotel 3,5 points. Since there is no such rating, I would like to give service a go, this time! Because I was phoned back after my booking. A breakfast outside in the sun saved my day. Stiffy prices, but the hotel is owned by a billionaire.....

Must be a new and an old part at this hotel, and I obviously got the old part.
This goes for the old part in first floor:
Don't go there. I've been to many hotels, and normally stay in the room to work or relax. For the first time I found it so bad I rather go anywhere else than that room. It smelled like the 50s and looked like the 50s. Looking like the 50s I can live with but the smell together with moist (water leakage damage) bathroom was terrible.
The new part with resting area was nice and comfortable, and even with a shuffle puck board.
Breakfast was good.
Tio few parking places with the hotel.

Terrible service and dirty rooms, especially under the bed! Also when you order cleaning of laundry, most probably it will not arrive at expected time. But the next day... And when you pay 200 NOK for cleaning of a sweater, it should at least be clean.

I stayed at The Vic for 4 nights on business. Firstly I was greeted with the news that the lift was out of service. Upon first inspection of my room, I noted that the fan extractor in the bathroom was very dirty with thick black fur! Throughout the night there was a constant droning noise, when I pointed this out at reception the next morning, all they could offer was earplugs. I also had a fly infestation in the bathroom, with at least 5 flies seen at one point. Finally I also felt that the restaurant was very over-priced. I appreciate that the cost of living in Norway is high, but relative to other restaurants in Porsgrunn, it was expensive and poor quality.

Hotell Vic is a wonderfully comfortable hotel situated in small town Porsgrunn, Norway within a city block from a fjord. The town is quite simple but an amazingly beautiful setting and well worth the visit.

The hotel is dated but very nice with spacious and comfortable rooms. I've stayed here a few times and some of the rooms have very small showers so make sure you ask for the full bathtub rooms.

Hi,
I stayed in Vic hotel in September 2008 for two nights along with my wife. I think Vic is the only hotel in Porsgrunn. It's just a few minutes walking to the train station. The hotel staff were really friendly and ever ready to assisted us. Our room which was so clean, spacious enough and well decorated at the 3rd floor had a great view of the ciry. The break fast was complete and the food was ok. In fact, we hope to come back the area and the same hotel.

I had to stay at the Hotell Vic in May 2006 while in Porsgrunn for business. It's the only hotel in Porsgrunn. It was expensive, especially with the exchange rate against the dollar, and not worth the money. My TV didn't work for days, and the receptionist kept telling me rudely that I just didn't know how to turn it on. Finally they replaced the remote control which was, in fact, broken. The breakfast (included) is fine, but the food in the restaurant at dinner was appallingly bad. My room was dusty; it looked like they hadn't cleaned under the sofa for months. On the plus side, I had a large, bright corner room with a sitting area and desk. If you're in the area, stay in Skien instead.
