I would say that the hotel rooms are great. Very spacious and the bathrooms are amazing. Shame there is not a fridge in the room. It was quite expensive for the experience. The pool is rather dirty but it is still nice and the staff are always cleaning it. The restaurant is average and last orders are 8:30pm which is quite early but they offer room service which is great! The staff are smiley but not very helpful. All in all the hotel was very clean and a good experience.

The Mai Samui Beach Resort & Spa charms with its location on picturesque Laem Yai in the north-east of Koh Samui. An immaculately clean beach stretches in front of the resort, although swimming is only possible at high tide. Architecturally, the hotel sets accents: The rooms are spread over three-storey buildings, picturesquely grouped around the pools. With a well thought-out lighting concept, the resort is transformed into a magical sea of lights in the evening. Both the buildings and the rooms are in a clean and well-maintained condition, although minor maintenance work is urgently needed. Unfortunately, the hotel has a real service problem. The nicest of the restaurants overlooking the sea is unfortunately closed. The beach bar is unfortunately only open between noon and 6pm. There are no service staff on the beach, guests have to carry and stretch the parasols themselves and bring towels from their rooms. Glasses and ashtrays from the previous day are also not cleared away. In addition, the open restaurant closes at 10 p.m., thus ending all service. However, the staff present are very good, very friendly, exceptionally helpful and competent. Despite the clear weaknesses in the service, we have a very nice time at this resort.

We stayed 7 nights in a pool room on luxury escape deal. Although the property could do with a bit of maintenance (probably due to neglect during Covid I would imagine) we loved our stay & would definitely stay again. The cocktails were plentiful, food was great, plenty of choice at breakfast. Resort is nice & quiet and although a little remote the free shuttle bus to town is great. The only downside is the rocky beach, but catch the bus to town if you want a nice sandy beach. Staff were all very friendly & helpful. Room was spacious & clean. Overall for the price we were very happy.

Positive points: 1-rooms are very spacious with high ceilings. 2-they change the sheets and towels everyday 3-people working there are kind people ( most of them) 4-you are on the seafront 5- there is a paying laundry service 6- every room on the second floor has an outdoor small pool and terrace Point to be improved: 1-they don’t always clean the bathroom 2-our sink tap fell 3-internet comes and goes and you have to reconnect all the time 4- far from any city so you are forced to take a taxi, rent a motorbike or a car 5-the restaurant has a simple and repetitive menu 6-they ruined a pair of adidas shorts at the laundry service 7- one of the managers is very rude 8- the swimming pool looks dirty and without chlorine 9- payments are sometimes difficult to be made 10- the breakfast lounge is filled with flies and mosquitos and birds (coming for your food) 11- every bed has a quilt and you sweat even with air conditioning. 12- there are no single sheets but only quilt covers 13- the beach is not a sandy one and full of rocks and looks dirty.

I nearly changed my holiday because of the negative reviews that i read here, however i was so pleased i didn't and went with my gut instinct. I have just returned from the most wonderful relaxing holiday at the Mai Samui beach resort. The hotel has been built in a traditional Thai style, on a quiet peninsular of Samui. So if you are looking for a glossy high rise concrete soulless block with entertainment and plenty of bars surrounding you, then this is not the place for you. There are a few local restaurants and a coffee shop only a few minutes walk away. With lively Bophut, with the Fisherman's market and Nathon are only a short taxi ride away (or free bus from hotel every day). The hotel has a variety of rooms to stay in, a couple of restaurants and a great beach bar with an extensive cocktail menu. The staff are all amazing, friendly and helpful. The hotel is currently having a few renovations but so has everyone else. Hotels and bars across the world have all suffered being locked down for several years due to Covid 19, and have only just re-opened, so yes they all need to do a bit of catch up. The renovations did not impact us in any way, and did not spoil our holiday one bit. I chose not to do all inclusive and opted for breakfast only. There was plenty of choice every morning. The egg chef was always busy with everyone's individual orders. One very small negative is the lack gluten free options or milk alternatives, but we worked around it. The beach is not your usual tropical lounging sandy spot. This is a very shallow tidal bay with some rocks and corals. It is great for a low tide walk, but not swimming. To make up for this the hotel has a couple of large well thought out swimming pools. and there is a raised sandy area to the front of the beach with plenty of sunbeds and chairs to lounge on. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel if you prefer a quite resort but with easy access to livelier towns. If i have the chance i would definitely come back again. Thank you everyone at Mai Samui for a wonderful stay.

I stayed here July 2023 and had an amazing time. The room was lovely, super comfy with great AC, huge sunken bath, big beds, TV. The staff were fantastic, always helpful, friendly . The location of the hotel is actually wonderful. It's out of the way enough to be peaceful and scenic but close enough to bars, restaurants, and Nathon, the nearest town, to enjoy the area too. Overall this was anamazing stay and I'd thoroughly recommend Mai Samui.

Currently staying at the hotel. The service is appalling. Only an hour into the breakfast window service and the buffet has been stripped bare as if attacked by locusts and not replenished. You have to make your own place sitting on tables still covered in uncleared plates, empty yoghurt pots and the like. Asked to see the manager and told it was his day off. I’ll be calling BA now to find a resolution. Dreadful start to our holiday

If you have any mobility issues with stairs, this is not the place for you, as I discovered on arrival. No mention on their website, or LE website. A very steep flight of stairs up to reception, with no handrails was impossible to undertake. 3 flights to our room, luckily with a rickety handrail, was a pain in the proverbial having to navigate it every time you came and went. None on the pool steps. We were there on a Luxury escape, booked for 10 nights. This also included lunch and/or dinner and drinks. The pool bar was the only one open from 12-6, then the bar guy worked at the one and only restaurant. The same menu was offered for lunch and dinner. After 2 nights we knew this wasn't going to work so we booked elsewhere (Bandara) and checked out. There was building work going on right next to the pool. It just wasn't up to the normal LE standard, and we have complained to them. It's a totally isolated resort with nothing to do and nothing nearby open. As I said..if you have any issues with stairs or uneven ground DON'T GO THERE!
