We were very glad to hear when the Royal re-opened as we had missed our visit earlier this year due to lockdown. There are plenty of good COVID secure measures in place, and we felt very safe during our stay. Guests can now have their breakfasts delivered to their rooms, left outside the door, and room cleaning is on request.
The Royal is spotless as always, and we were even told that rooms are left empty for 2-4 days between guests. My most favorite thing is the sea view from our room, and that hasn't changed at all! Lovely fresh sea breeze wafting in and the sound of the waves and seagulls, you can't beat it. Most of the shops and pubs in the area are now open, with social distancing in place as expected, and so we enjoyed our relaxing break as always. We walked up to Beachy Head one day - glorious! Highly recommended.

We’ve just had a short break at The Royal with our dog, Beryl. Eddie and his dog, Boris, couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. All the dogs hung out together at breakfast, while Eddie treated them with cuddles, chats and snacks. The continental breakfast included homemade organic muesli, homemade bread and jams, vegan milk and yogurts and fresh fruit salad. It was all fab, with a very personal touch, and just metres from the sea . We’ll definitely be back 💚

Perfect stay if you have dogs, Eddie has a refreshing sense of humor and Boris is lovely and make you feel super comfortable and cater to all your needs. The beach across is perfect for walkies and the hotel is very close to town center and all eateries. the parade is great for a long walk and ending up in the Italian garden

we have been coming to the royal hotel for the last 12 years. We are always greeted warmly by eddie. We had room 2 which has a lovely view of the pier and the sea. We had everything we needed in our room toiletries, tea, coffee biscuits. Breakfast is continental which consists of homemade breads, crumpets, jams, fruit, cereals and yoghurts. There is always a good supply of tea and coffee served by eddy. We will be retuning again hopefully this year

We had a wonderful break in the Royal Hotel. It advertises that it is dog-friendly and it definitely is. The owner Eddie went out of his way to make our 11 month old malti-poo Teddy feel welcome on his first holiday. He was full of good advice about good walks and which restaurants and pubs were dog friendly and the offer of the later checkout was much appreciated.
We will be back!

This is a wonderful little hotel right on Eastbourne seafront. Chosen principally as it is dog friendly and we wanted to take our little cavapoo. Eddie and Boris made us feel very much at home. Very comfortable room with little sitting area. All very clean and with fresh flowers in room.
Breakfast is of the continental variety but a very good choice. Cereal (various types) bread, croissant, crumpets, pan o chocolate. Selection of home made preserves and home made yogurt and Musli (delicious). Cheese and freshly squeezed orange juice.
Very near pier and local shops are within walking distance. Found some very nice pubs/restaurants nearby. Highly recommend.

Woke up to breathtaking views of the sea. Stayed in a lovely room that was very clean, with beautiful furniture. Excellent location - right by the seafront and shops are within easy reach. Most importantly, very warm and friendly owner who even gave me tips on where to eat, which places to explore, and what events are on. I am happy to have found my home away from home when in Eastbourne.

Excellent B&B!! dog friendly. we went with my Golden Retriever and could not be happier. The sea views were stunning and the small space with table and chairs to enjoy breakfast or evening drinks were great. Eddie was also super helpful! I would definitely come back again.

We had the best little mini break at The Royal and Eddie looked after us so well. Our room was clean and comfortable and gave us the best views of the sunrise Our little dog had a wonderful time and felt very at home. The hotel is ideally situated for exploring the area. Wonderful walks at nearly Birling Gap, The Seven Sisters and Cuckmere Have-all worth a visit. Thank you Eddie for being a wonderful host. Claire, David and Jarvis

We are a small establishment and do not have any spa or fitness facilities onsite. There are however various gyms in the town, and we can highly recommend The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne, which does have these facilities.
Thank you for your question. There are seven steps from the pavement to the entrance of our property, so we are sorry but a mobility scooter would be unable to gain access. Our doors are fairly wide so a folding wheelchair would be fine, but it would have to be carried up the steps.
There are more places to choose from in the Eastbourne area.
