The staff were very friendly, the breakfast excellent, the pool (well it was January and I had it to myself) was clean and warm. We took 2 dogs which weren't allowed in the dining room but we sat in the bar and had the same level of service. Maybe it needs a little updating but that costs a fortune these days and I thought it was great value for money.

We stayed for a few nights in a deluxe king room as we wanted a sea view because we were visiting for a quiet break away. Check-in was easy and it is £1 a day for a parking permit with plenty of parking right outside at all times of the day/night which i thought was great (compared to other hotels in other seaside towns). The room itself was lovely, although would expect a slightly bigger room for the price but it had a fridge which was ideal and a jacuzzi bath and also a changing/dressing room area.
The bed only had 2 thing pillows on it which i thought was poor considering this bed was king size. We asked for more and it took a while but they did bring some (they were uncomfortable pillows in my opinion but each to their own) There was also only 1 big towel in the room so we asked for another and they questioned this as if we were lying about it?
Room was generally tidy although the bedside tables/lamp etc seemed quite dusty. I am not sure if perhaps the room hadn’t been stayed in for a while and they forgot to dust.
Very limited (and expensive!!) menu, although limited due to covid-19 which is fair enough. We did not like anything on the menu so opted to order each night. We did have breakfast on our last day and no complaints as it was great! Slightly pricey but it is still order as much as you like as if it was a buffet.
Room service is advertised but they seem to not state on the website or very much around the hotel that it is a £3.50 charge per time you order anything to your room (food/drinks) I personally feel like this is a lot of money, especially considering how quiet the hotel seems at the moment. And yet service is still very slow. They ask that you contact them on WhatsApp but yet they hardly check this or reply and then most of the time call your room anyway so I suggest they improve that or don’t tell guests that they prefer WhatsApp communication.
Overall it was a very comfortable stay and we did go away feeling relaxed. There are definitely improvements that need to be made as above but only minor. I would stay again if I were to visit Eastbourne again as it seems to be the nicer hotel in the area and we definitely enjoyed the sea view and being able to open the window for some fresh sea air.

Ideally situated right on the sea front , reasonably priced for B&B for 6 nights also , first impressions were good on arrival , Molly on reception set the tone with her friendliness while finishing the checking in ( which I’d 95% done on-line ) and added to it with her “ slip of the tongue “ over how many nights we were staying 😜 ( think it was 6 molly ) . The room was massive , we had an executive room looking out towards the pebble beach & sea which was lovely to wake up to each morning . The breakfast we had each day was excellent and although not buffet service obviously at the moment , there were no issues with anything we wanted and nothing was any trouble for any of the staff in there . We used the what’s app service to get fresh towels and toilet rolls for our room once during the week and they’d arrived within half an hour 👍 . The actual hotel is an old building and could do with some additional lighting in the restaurant and in bedrooms around the hotel but we fully enjoyed our stay and if we went back again to Eastbourne wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again . The town centre is only about a 15 minute flat walk and walks one way towards Beachy head and the other towards the harbour are flat and pleasant also . Thanks again to all

Dear Steves234, Thank you for taking the time and reviewing your recent stay here at the Best Western York House Hotel in Eastbourne. I'm happy you enjoyed your six night stay with us finding your room large and comfortable, our seaview rooms are slightly bigger than standard ones and of course with lovely view so well worth the little supplement we charge for in my opinion. Also glad to read you enjoyed our breakfast offering, we are no longer able to offer a buffet breakfast but we do indeed offer a variety of locally sourced items on our A La Carte breakfast menu and I'm glad you enjoyed our offering. Thank you also for the kind words to the team specially Molly on reception I will pass these comments over which I'm sure she will appreciate. The team and I all look forward on welcoming you again in the near future. Kind regards, William

We came to Eastbourne to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Having stayed at other Best Western Hotels we were expecting a lilttle more grandeur than they have at York House. The room we was allocated was slightly below par and would have liked to have had a sea view. Maybe this should be an option offered when making the booking? Our over mirror bathroom light was not working, the shower was very weak and we did not have enough towels. The staff were very helpful and provided new towels and also pillows as only one pillow on the bed for each of us. Due the current Covid-19 situation the dinner menu was very minimal and quite disappointing and we only ate there one night because we were using a pre paid voucher which was a gift from our children. The hotel had very good sineage regarding hand sanitising and social distancing and all serving staff wore gloves and masks. We would definately stay there again but would make a request for a sea view next time.

Dear Juliemama, Thank you for reviewing your recent experiences with us here at the Best Western York House Hotel Eastbourne. It was very positive to read that you noted the hotels COVID safety measures as this is something we have worked incredibly hard on both prior to re-opening and on-going to make sure the environment is not only safe but comfortable. We have removed a lot of furniture to ensure we are complying with the government guidance which is probably why maybe you thought some areas were lacking something. Likewise I appreciate your candid comments relating to the Dinner menu; when we opened initially this was with a more streamlined menu however this is something we are constantly re-evaluating; it is positive to read our valued guests like yourself are choosing to dine in and because of this we have already expanded this further and will look to increase again to ensure our guests get more choice. Apologies that we didn't offer an upgrade option during the booking process on this occasion - this is normally done as standard especially in regards to Sea view upgrades. Admittedly we are not perfect, although we do strive for perfection this area has been discussed with the reception manager. On a side note if you have any questions or queries during your stay please do feel free to communicate with the team - our Reception team & Duty Managers especially could have assisted in transferring you to a alternative room for example (subject to availability). They do love the opportunity resolve queries and make our guests happy. Currently also we have WhatsApp messenger service available if guests didn't feel like picking up the phone. The team and I look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Kind regards,

Loved staying here for 3 nights, pool nice and warm you use the towels from your room for swimming and they give you fresh towels after. Rooms nice and big one double and two singles. Nice sized bathroom, towels provided, shampoo and bath/shower gel. Soap too, it was a little slimy as a bit oily, so didn't like soap. Extra pillows in cupboard. We had problem with our room door didn't lock from the inside, spoke to a maintenance man he fixed it with in minutes. Friendly staff at reception and breakfast staff. Breakfast selection good, nice and hot. Was little disappointed when two days there was no buffet breakfast had to order from menu but the last day the buffet was on. I like the buffet, it was nice. Rooms made up every day, tidy bed's top up toilet rolls, tea, coffee and sugar in your room, with little kettle. Hair dryer in the drawer, nice sized tv, nice big windows. Good view of the sea. Good walks, not far to town walking distance. Parking permits are a £1 for the whole day. Ask at reception. Don't do at machines.

Dear Sf951, Thank you for taking the time and reviewing your recent stay here at the Best Western York House Hotel in Eastbourne. I'm delighted to read you enjoyed your stay with us in our family room, this is the only room we have set up like this and is very big and spacious even with a double and two single beds in it and of course like all other family rooms it is a seaview which is a great feature in my opinion. I'm glad you found our breakfast to your liking, during quieter days we usually offer cooked breakfast on A la Carte base just too make sure that the quality of the items is always good and hot, when busier we do indeed offer a buffet option for most hot items but we still keep the A la Carte menu available for any other item not on display. Thank you also for the kind words to the Team which you found always friendly and I'm glad that one member or our Maintenance Team was able to solve the door problem quickly. The Team and I all look forward on welcoming you again in the near future. Kind regards, William

Great location just across the road from the beach. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly and efficient. The rooms we had (none were the premium sea view rooms, which at a peek looked nice) weren't particularly big, but were clean, perfectly functional and decently equipped - flat screen tv with freeview, kettle and tea making kit, fan (a big plus) and hair dryer. Breakfast was decent and the staff met all of the individual requests of our party of 6. As per previous review comments, we too experienced our booking for the swimming pool being lost, but when spotted this was quickly corrected by the reception team. After dining out, we enjoyed being able to retreat to the hotel bar which was large enough for us to enjoy a game of cards and a nightcap before calling it a day.

Me and my daughter stayed in the hotel for the evening as a special treat for us both.
Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean but I was disappointed at the size as I had paid a premium rate for a premium room and seemed we had be allocated a room smaller than expected - I had seen photos of the other deluxe rooms and it seemed we had been given the smallest one (124). The bathroom was lovely though. Nice view to the sea too. Kind of hoped there might be glasses or similar for the apple juice provided and more than one hot chocolate sachet, especially for the price. A few extra touches would have made the size of the room less of an issue.
We headed down for a swim which my daughter loved. The pool and changing rooms were clean and the water in the pool was warm. After our swim we used the spa bath in the room which was fun, although the plug was broken and I ended up cutting my finger trying to use various implements to get the plug out.
We booked a table for dinner at the restaurant which was really pleasant. The waiting staff and bar staff were particularly lovely.
Our bed was comfy and the room quiet, I was worried the road would be noisy as we were on the first floor, however it really quietened down at night time. The seafront lights were really nice to see out of the window.
The breakfast was tasty and plentiful, and once again the staff were friendly and attentive.
The only thing that let down this trip was I felt the deluxe room wasn't value for money and I wouldn't have booked it if I'd known it would be the size it is, and lacking in the finishing touches that make a room 'deluxe'.

Lovely rooms. Staff were not that helpful when asked for extra pillow reception tutted. Had a spa bath and couldn’t use as thick black lumps (Bacteria) coming out of the jets every time turned on. I must have run bath 5 times and left them running to try and clear but even then thick black lumps. Bath jets were turned off reception told me how to turn them on and didn’t want to come to room to do it. Food was ok but rather pricey for what you get. I was surprised had to leave £50 room deposit when signed in but no choice if you want to stay. Other than that lovely place good location website says free parking but you have to pay £2 a night but no big deal. Bed was reasonably comfortable.

Dear pmbull85, Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback relating to your recent stay with us. I'm pleased to read that overall you mentioned it was a lovely place in a good location - we do not advertise free parking but yes it is £2 per day to park on the street adjacent to the hotel in Zone H areas. There are side streets also close by which are free of charge (local road laws Apologies that not all aspects met expectations; It was disappointing to read the title of the review especially considering the work that has been done prior to re-opening along with the continued detailed cleaning schedule in place. I would like to sincerely apologise for the issues relating to your experiences in the Jacuzzi Bath area - it is something i've discussed with the Maintenance & Housekeeping departments which i'm confident was an isolated incident. Like many hotels - we ask for a pre-authorisation on arrival which is cancelled on departure. This is to open credit facilities at the hotel and helps prove your identity. If you wish not to provide a £50 pre-authorisation next time, we are able to take a copy of a valid form of I.D which would be absolutely fine. Due to the current circumstances we are requesting more contactless pay methods to avoid cash handling where possible. We do hope you choose to stay with us in the future and provide us with another opportunity impress; I would be happy to assist in creating your next reservation, so please feel free to get in to touch when your thinking of visiting again - manager@yorkhousehotel.co.uk. The team wish you well and stay safe, Kind regards,

It’s not all bad!! I did really love my accommodation
I paid £600 for 4 nights deluxe double, should be a mini fridge and fresh milk given on arrival ( nobody likes the little milk pots) and bigger cups!!!
The chairs in the room at the base were thick with dust could write my name in the dust, other peoples fag butts on the balcony.
The chef can’t make poached eggs 😞
The swimming pool seriously needs updating, the changing room is awful, and the cloudy water makes you wonder how often they clean the pool, could be really lovely with a bit more thought.
As a solo traveler I did not find this hotel to be friendly, it should start the minute you step through the door with a warm welcome, not to be told , hang on im busy.

Dear Guest, Thanks for your feedback. Delighted that you chose to upgrade to one of our Deluxe Four poster bedrooms. These are excellent rooms which come with great sea views and all these rooms include a Jacuzzi bath plus other features. It looks like we missed some dust on the chair base in the bedroom - apologies for this and i've discussed with the housekeeping manager today. It is a real shame some guests feel it acceptable to leave their cigarette remains on our balcony. We make it clear that nobody should be smoking on site except in designated areas and we check & clean the balcony's weekly because guests should not be accessing as it is primarily a decorative balcony. Apologies to read the poach eggs weren't to your liking, i'll discuss with the Head Chef so he can speak with the Chef who was on duty. I trust the rest of the breakfast offering and service met your expectations. I'm not entirely sure of the origins of the comments made on arrival, if you'd like to email me directly on manager@yorkhousehotel.co.uk with a bit more detail that would appreciated. We do have a great record of providing guests with a warm welcome and is something we pride ourselves on. So I'm keen investigate further if you would oblige. The swimming pool is cleaned regularly, the reason the water can appear cloudy is due to high usage and disperses when the pool quieten downs. The team and I do hope we get another opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards,

Lovely room, good food. Shame we were awoken by reception call at 3.45am in error! Couldn't get back off to sleep after that which spoilt stay. Also upon check in would have been nice to have been told WiFi code + reception telephone number from room or even where to find them. Reception could have also reminded us clocks go back as a courtesy reminder. Used toiletries for room price paid we would have preferred new sealed smaller ones especially as Covid 19 still about.

Thank you for your question. All our guest rooms have a TV.
The room we stay in doesn't have a mini fridge. I would think that is true for all rooms. There is an excellent room service if drinks were required in the rooms.
You can purchase a ticket from reception at a nominal charge your stay, approximately £3 per 24 hours and park outside of the hotel.
There are local streets with free parking which are in easy reach of the hotel but obviously that's dependent on space when you arrive
