We have just returned from a wet and windy but very enjoyable break in Eastbourne. The Cavendish is still pleasant and offers good facilities but it has definitely declined over recent years. The service used to be top notch but now there seems to be a general lack of interest in the guests. For example, it would be nice if...

We paid £400 for 2 nights. They gave us room 303. We complained to reception. She said she was too busy to move us. The room was nowhere near the standard of room shown on the web site. The next morning the duty manager moved us to a proper room. 303 was small, undersized bed, pokey, horrible. Refuse to go...

I go to Eastbourne about this time every year for a conference. I have been staying at the Cavendish for many years and, until this year, thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Things have gone seriously downhill. Is there new ownership? Whilst the hotel has had a homely air of faded grandeur for some time, I found the lack of cleanliness I...

We have stayed at this hotel for many years and have returned twice since it was taken over by Britannia. We won't be returning unless the management take steps to improve this elegant building and return it to the friendly and well run hotel it used to be. Breakfast used to be the best but not anymore. The buffet was...

Having stayed at this hotel several times over last few years, sad to say now very dated and nowhere near rating awarded. Buffet breakfast awful, cold meats even at 0800 in morning looked stale, fruit looked out of date and all cooked items stewed and in some cases cold! Have to say tho that all staff attentive and efficient, especially...

We returned to this hotel as previously it had been a pleasure to stay at and had in fact booked the year previously during a stay so that we could ensure we had the accommodation that would suit our needs. Our family actually took 2 doubles one executive double and the Willingdon suite. What a decline in just one year...

My room was located on the third floor. Room was very small and bed was a small double not a full sized double. Bed was really uncomfortable as was really hard. The bathroom was adequate and had all the usual bathroom freebies. The hotel staff were very polite. I didn't use the restaurant as was in the rush to check...

Really tired. Run down. Unfriendly bar staff. Shocking breakfast and £90 for a single room. Never stay here....Fortunately this was for work so not my costs but I would never spend a penny in this place again

We visited this hotel on the last weekend in October 2016, having previously stayed there for the same weekend two years earlier and were looking forward to returning. We like the Grand Hotel but the rooms are about twice the price. We had booked our room at the Cavendish much earlier in the year but the hotel had changed ownership...
