1st venture to this hotel-outside advert caught my eye recently -so phoned and booked the Sunday Carvery. Very efficient with booking. It is served from 1230-1430 and is in seaview dining room-opposite Bandstand. Nicely laid out tables-all sizes which good idea. Walked up to long table with the 3 joints to be carved for you-and then for one to select the 7 choices of fresh vegetables. It all was hot-plus hot plate; very good sign. We both said excellent food and managed to do justice to plateful. Just had to make room for bread & butter pudding-or cheesecake. The bread & butter was outstanding and best one for many a year-plus custard Very well prepared and tasty. Then settled into one of the comfortable lounge chairs to have a coffee-again outstanding in both quality and presentation. To think this is a non AA star rated just shows you it can be done and at a reasonable price let alone all well cooked. Well done . After a short spell decided it was about time we had a walk on seafront very satisfield and pleased with our choice. Go on and treat yourselves!!It will not break the Bank....

Good value for money and clean. Great Tapas and wonderful majority of staff. Sadly lost a 5 star review due to the initial lack of hosting skills from the main reception lady. They were not busy so that was not a reason to be rude and short with me. I was struggling in with cases up the steps and no one offered a hand or told me to go another route. I was the only one checking in at that time, she would not explain about anything, I had to ask about parking which she rolled her eyes at me as it was clearly not what she wanted to explain. Huffing and puffing. Paid via card for the stay at that time and parking in cash, but never received a confirmation invoice nor receipt. I asked she said it was online, i said you have charged me more than what the booking was as I had a dog with me. One place online said the dogs were included, another not so i was unaware of the cost of this when i arrived but because this member of staff was rude and clearly lack skills in hospitality and English language. The following day she was still on reception so could not address this with someone else as i had not received any online version of the amount i paid nor invoice.

Myself and my dad went on coach trip their for a 4 days breaks. The room was outdated and tired need loads of refurbishment and lick of paint and need renovation. The staff was helpful and friendly especially the waitress and waiter serving. The food was ok but some are lukewarm at breakfast time sadly.

I arranged for my mother and her partner (both mobility impaired) to stay here and for my brother and his partner to have a room next door. I found via Booking.com that this hotel is “wheelchair accessible” but ensured that I got the rooms required by contacting the hotel direct, arranging payment on arrival. My family arrived after 7pm so it was quite dark, my mother was left outside as there was no direct access to the reception from street level, once payment was made and access was granted, my brother had to return to my mother in the street, wheel my mother to what can only be described as a poorly lit goods entrance ! Ringing a bell for access presented them with a narrow corridor with shopping trolleys and other debris left laying around, they managed to access the lift to find their rooms. My mother’s room was tired, dated with a clunky old wardrobe, two single beds and chairs but no view (except for the inner scaffolding). The shower had two doors which my brother had to force apart for access but my mother was too scared to use in case she couldn’t open them after use ! My brother sought an upgrade after already spending over £540 for two rooms for two nights to be told that he would have to forego the already paid expense and then pay again for an upgrade (never heard such a thing). The breakfasts were ok but no more than that. The location was perfect but the rooms were as stated, very tired and dated with old furniture and poor quality beds, staff also made a point that the rooms needed to be vacated by 10:30hrs. One good note was that my mother left her mobile charger in the room after departure and a member of housekeeping handed it into reception where it was collected two days later, when collecting it, I asked if I could speak to the manager but was advised, “They’re busy”, I said I could wait but was again advised, “I don’t know how long they will be, they’re busy”, hence my long review instead of being able to talk face to face about this. This is extremely embarrassing for me as I had taken the time to book a short break for my elderly and frail parents who were to be assisted by my younger brother, I had looked online, knew the location and contacted the hotel to ensure a happy stay, this was not it !

Warning! If you are staying in a single room do not accept 408, I could not get into this room on arrival on the Monday and could not get out at 6 pm for dinner. I was assured it had been fixed but might happen again which it did on the Wednesday and Thursday evening I could not get back into the room to go to bed, one of the guests actually came to my rescue and had to stand back and kick the door open with some force. The person trying to fix the door worked behind reception as it turned out there was no maintenance person. For two nights I slept with the door ajar as it definitely was a fire hazard and possibly breaking every fire regulation there is. Such a shame as the restaurant was fine, the staff were helpful and friendly, the room was nice and bright but I just didn’t like being trapped in there so often.

Don't be drawn in by the location of this hotel, its all downhill once you walk inside. Rooms are uninviting, run down and very unwelcoming. Food is the worst I've known in a hotel. I never complain but I'd have wanted warning before wasting good money.

Absolutely chambles of a hotel. Food vile. No pressure on the shower. Can't open the windows so it's red hot and like being in a sauna. Rude staff, apart from the young waiting staff. They was wonderful. The hotel honestly needs shutting down. It doesn't deserve visitors. I'm loathe to moan because I always see a positive but this hotel is hell on earth.

We booked 2 nights via Buyagift voucher, which was a Christmas gift from our son. We paid extra to upgrade to a twin room with sea view. I am disabled, with limited mobility and as such need to sleep separately from my husband. I discovered the hotel has a Facebook page and used this to message them in advance to let them know this and that I use a small mobility scooter, both as a courtesy to them and to help ensure the passage to our room would be easily accessible. I included all the details of our booking for ease of reference. My reply came about 2 weeks later saying "Thank you, I'll make a note of it." The hotel states it is accessible so we thought all would be fine. Upon arrival we rang the doorbell of the "accessible entrance" and was eventually greeted by a concierge who assisted us through. This entrance is actually a service and delivery entrance that winds through the underbelly of the hotel. It was blocked in places by old supermarket trollies apparently used for domestic purposes. Not a great first impression but it is what it is. From here we take the lift to the 1st floor to check in. As soon as the lift opened we saw the first problem we were faced with. The lift is very shallow in depth but thankfully slightly longer in width so after much pushing, shoving and many manoeuvres I finally made it in while hubby had to wait for the lift to return in order to take up our luggage. Then to reception where we checked in. Here, the concierge said to let them know if there were any problems with the room and they'd do their best to rectify. Then back to the lift for the 4th floor. Here, our next obstacle became apparent. The lift opened adjacent to stairs on a very small landing. I had to perform a 3 point turn in order to go through the first heavy fire door, taking me precariously close to the top of the stairs. Once through this door, another tight turn took us through another heavy fire door to a short, narrow corridor with our room 406 at the end. The door opened straight onto a double bed and I mean straight onto it. There was barely enough room to walk in let alone negotiate a small mobility scooter or wheelchair. Then came the view (pictured). Not only no sea view but possibly the ugliest we've ever encountered. Hubby returned to reception to request a room change to the room we'd booked and paid for where he was told that the booking had come through to them as a double inland room and they couldn't move us as they were fully booked. The Hotel is a 3 star budget hotel described on their website as one of Eastbournes premier hotels. It's old and very tired. It even smells old and tired. Our room was THE most basic, old and poorly decorated we've ever known. Carpets were stained, surfaces bubbling with years of varnishing layer upon layer. There are nice views of the beautiful seafront and all it's glory but not from our room. We were so looking forward to falling asleep at night to the sound of the gentle lapping waves. Instead we had the sound of industry, extractor fans, ventilation and rude awakenings of tons of glass being dropped into hoppers at 4.30am. The weather was glorious, very hot and sunny. Our room, within a quadrant didn't benefit from much air circulation. A sea view room might have proved a little fresher for us. Our nights were very uncomfortable. The mattress was also hard and lumpy. There was no way of getting my scooter into the room so it had to be left outside a fair distance away. The hotel staff did nothing to ensure our stay was comfortable and pleasant, quite the opposite in fact. We saw that there are plenty of rooms that are far easier to reach for disabled guests. Yet despite all this and pre messaging they showed absolutely no consideration. Each time we left our room to venture out proved more stressful. I cannot stress enough how dangerous it is! Quite how a booking for one thing miraculously transforms to another is beyond me. Never encountered such a thing before. No compensation was offered, absolutely no recourse whatsoever, just shifted the blame to Buyagift. If the hotel admin can't communicate adequately between such companies then I'd suggest removing themselves from their listings. Eastbourne itself is beautiful but we definitely would not recommend this hotel, especially if you're disabled!
