Went to Eastbourne with Brent coaches on the 4th September. Our driver David was brilliant, very pleasant, and very helpful.
He got us to Haddon Hall Hotel around 3.30pm. One of the hotel staff came into the coach to explain what was the rules of our stay due to the coronavirus. We all had our temperatures taken before we could enter the hotel.
We had our keys from the reception our room 109, we could have used the lift only 3 allowed but chose not to as our room was only the next floor up, our cases was being brought up by the porterage.
On entering our room I was a little shocked, the twin beds were right in the corner near the door, then I noticed the curtain that you needed to pull across the room if you were going to have a quick wash down because the wash basin was in the same room not in the bathroom, you also had to draw the other curtains because of the hotel opposite. So when you used the toilet you had to come into the room to wash your hands as there's no handbasin in the bathroom which is not what I expected to do, rather unhealthy.
There was also two arm chairs in the room but they were in an awkward place, one facing the beds, the other right up in the corner by the window, you couldn't place them to use as there was no room, so you couldn't sit down only on the bed which wasn't ideal.
The room was lovely and clean, with a lovely comfortable bed, the room was very warm, even with the window open so that was nice.
The meals were lovely, a wide variety to choose from, plus a vegetarian option.
The breakfast times was great 8.30 to 9.30, as some hotels was earlier which wasn't ideal. The staff were excellent in the restaurant they worked so very hard, they made sure that everyone was satisfied with their food, plus if you needed anything it was seen to, the staff were so pleasant, very polite, always smiling. A lovely spotless restaurant, with comfy seats.
In the evening in the lounge it was the same, the bar staff were so pleasant, after purchasing your first drink they knew exactly what you wanted when you went up again, just great.
The Haddon Hall Hotel is such a lovely friendly place to stay, very clean, very convenient you can easily walk to the town, plus a lovely pleasant walk to the pier.
I really had a lovely stay at the Haddon Hotel, and hopefully will go back, but I'm sorry to say I wouldn't want to stay in room 109 as I found it slightly too small for 2 people, and didn't like the outlay.
But saying that I would definitely recommend the Haddon Hall Hotel.

Enjoyed my stay at this hotel and it was well planned regarding COVID restrictions.
The hotel rooms are small but are kept nice and clean with a daily change of towels.

All the staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful.

The dinning room was well organised considering that there was three coach companies plus independent travellers staying. There was an excellent choice on the menu and all the food was well presented and hot.

The only negative I found was the lift which I think many guests found difficult to negotiate the two doors !!!

The hotel is ideally placed for the promenade.

Went on a coach trip. The room we were allocated was nicely decorated but a big disappointment, far too small, have had caravan bedrooms not much smaller, it was boiling hot in there and the window only opened around 6 inches. The door could not be locked from the inside. We asked not to be disturbed one morning, but put the one chair in the room against the door "just in case" and HeyHo, some time later someone trying to open our door to clean. After being out for the evening we couldn't get any cold water out of the taps, they were both running hot. Let the cold tap run for over ten minutes and still the same. The shower was very dangerous, far too small, couldn't. turn round properly, the temperature control is on a level with your shoulder and too easily moved so if you did accidentally catch it while showering you either froze or scalded yourself. A lot of fellow travellers had the same problem. seemed to be luck of the draw whether you got a decent sized room or not. Food was ok and the dining room serving staff were very good. Didn't use entertainment room so can't comment on that. Reason being, we had a drink in the bar on the first night . big mistake, prices are ridiculously high. Got charged £10.45 for a pint and a malibu and coke. Coke is sold by the bottle (330ml) and they charge £2.75 for it. Needless to say we went out to Wetherspoons and paid less than half of hotel's prices. A few other guests followed too. So, would we go back? In a word No.

I have just returned from 5 days holiday travelling with Buckley's. I had already read the negative comments regarding access by lift so opted to request a low room. I was put on 3rd floor so had to use this rickety cramped lift. I was given a room which was small but adequate. I went to run a bath only to find the water only came out of the hand held shower attachment as the diverter was rusted over. While I waited for my luggage to arrive I switched on the TV. No reception. When the porter arrived I asked him if he could look at the bath problem and he did kindly try. He managed to get it running through the taps but cut his finger in doing so. There was no way I could operate this when I wanted to use the shower attachment. I then asked him to try and get the TV working. At that stage he said that I should request another room. I looked for the phone to let reception know but there aren't any so off I went to report it. I was given another room. TV excellent bathroom awful. Same type of set up with bath/shower but this time I could use it for the bath but not to wash my hair ! The bath was very badly chipped and the grouting filthy. The wash basin had a tap which dripped constantly and the light not working. In 2021 I would not expect anywhere to offer such sub standard accomodation. The bed was padded with thick blanket to stop the broken springs digging in. I have given this hotel 3* purely for the fabulous food always served hot by cheerful helpful staff. They all are a credit to this hotel from the porters, reception ,housekeepers and dining room staff.

Friendly staff, Hotel clean but in need of refurb , single room dowdy shower very dangerous very hot to the extreme than ice cold . Shower had broken tiles and also black mould , toilet flush broke on a Sunday I was however given key to use another rooms toilet . The food was very good , young lad waited on us he Was very helpful . Drinks were not very good , bar staff seemed to charge what they wanted, bottle of wine £15 but with a price tag of £5.75 , rather a large mark up . If Hotel had refurb I would defiantly go back .

The bedrooms needed updating as they look tired, plenty of drawer space and a small cupboard to hang your clothes.
Shower room needed updating and a bit of a repair but was lovely and clean.
It was quite warm weather and the bedroom was very hot, unfortunately all the fans were in use.
Stairs etc showing their age, very small lift.
Entertainment geared towards older people.
Staff were friendly and very accommodating, the food was beautiful except for 1 evening where it had possibly dried out whilst being kept warm, staff more than happy to fetch extra toast, butter etc, tea and coffee boiling, the hot food was hot, the cold food cold therefore more than happy.
I would definitely return to this hotel even though there are areas that need remedial work done.
When you come out of the hotel if you turn right you end up on the sea front (pebble beach) if you turn left you end up in the shopping centre, so a good position.

First attempt to book at £240 resulted in rejected card which was strangely accepted minutes later but at £280!!
Wi-Fi was not available in our room despite claims the advertised claim.
Breakfast, advertised in the hotel’s information book as being available until 9.30 was not available at 9.00 the day we left as there were apparently too many guests! No apology was offered and the attitude suggested it was probably our fault!
We stayed there because of the location near the tennis - we won’t however being going back!

I booked for 3 nights and paid £300 on a room only basis. This is an old building with a lot of character and could be charming. Unfortunately, that potential was not fulfilled. My room was on the 3rd (top) floor, with a lovely side sea view. The character and charm came in the form of a floor with a gradient, it felt like I was walking slightly uphill as I crossed the room. The ceiling was stained where the roof had leaked the wallpaper was peeling and stained. Light fittings and bulbs were mis-matched and there was a piece of skirting coming away from the wall. I could overlook these things but a broken bed base which was stained and frayed? NO! The bathroom had issues too. The fittings were rusty, the towel ring was hanging off the wall and I was surprised to find that the towels were not bath sheets. There is absolutely NO information about anything in the rooms. To find out about meals Wi-Fi, locality of facilities nearby, public transport etc one has to go down to reception and ask. Not all members of staff are suited to customer service. Finishing on a positive note.....the cleaners do a remarkable job given what they have to work with.

Had a fabulous stay at the Haddon Hall, despite all the pressures of COVID-19 they provided us with a warm welcoming atmosphere, a spotlessly clean hotel and well cooked piping hot fresh food. The restaurant was socially distanced but retained a jovial air. As I said the food was very good, plenty of choice, fresh cooked food and always piping hot which is a testament to the chef and kitchen staff to produce large numbers of meals ...all consistent and always perfectly hot. They all worked extremely hard at the hotel and our special thanks go to Christian....our waiter who even though very busy was perfectly polite, friendly and courteous.
