The View Hotel comes highly recommended for its cleanliness and prime location, with guests consistently lauding its proximity to the seafront and town attractions. While the hotel's atmosphere is deemed comfortable, it has lost some of its unique charm over time. Room comfort and cleanliness receive positive notes, but there are suggestions for updates. The hotel's value is celebrated, offering reasonable rates and fair pricing on amenities, which include an excellent breakfast and sea views. The friendly and attentive staff further enhance the guest experience, though some amenities may need improvement.

This was my first visit to Eastbourne and I stayed here for just one night due to work in the area. The hotel is right on the promenade with views overlooking the beach, pier and surroundings. I had booked a superior single room with a balcony and it was really nice.

The room had a single bed (as expected), iron and board, safe, coffee / tea and kettle, a good sized bathroom with shower, a work desk, TV, free Wi-Fi, armchair, small table, and a balcony that gave views towards the historic pier and the promenade. Some of the wooden furniture looked a little dated, but the room was perfect for my needs. There was ample storage space for clothes etc.

The breakfast buffet was very good, with a wide selection of hot and cold foods and plenty of seating. It became clear the hotel was popular with an international clientele and breakfast got a little busy at times, but overall the View Hotel was a great value option for my overnight stay.

The staff on reception were very friendly and helpful and suggested that if I returned I should contact the hotel directly for the best rates. Would certainly recommend and plan to stay here again as I will be returning to Eastbourne in the new year.

Glad to stay for a night in this hotel. Bath tub was nice especially the tap would stop when water is filled. The balcony is large and the location is perfect in January especially the sun rises just in front of my room. Thanks for the staff making my birthday trip very satisfying and hope I will stay again someday!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our two day stay at the View Hotel, which is a modern style hotel. We stayed in one of the rear-facing standard double rooms, which was quite a reasonable size. The room was very clean and had a flat screen TV and tea/coffee making facility. The bed was a standard double size and a bit firm for my personal taste, but still quite comfortable. The room had a nice en-suite with powerful shower over the bath and all was very clean. Housekeeping made sure the room was kept clean and tidy during our stay. We had a wonderful cooked breakfast in the Artisan Restaurant each morning. The food was being freshly cooked and replenished all the time and there was a choice of fresh fruit and cereals. We also used the Vista Café on the ground floor for refreshments and snacks with a nice selection of goodies to eat. All the staff throughout the hotel were helpful and friendly. The hotel sold us parking permits at a very reasonable cost per day and we were able to park in the designated hotel parking bays across the road on the sea front, which meant we didn’t have to drag our luggage too far. We would certainly recommend a stay at the View Hotel.

This hotel has an identity crisis. On the one hand, the rooms are very comfortable, location is perfect for exploring the downs and soaking up the ocean, and the staff are helpful and friendly. On the other hand, the hotel’s schedule is organized around groups coming to the coast to party and drink all night.
Imagine our surprise when a hotel that advertises itself as QUIET booked a private party with a band that featured reverberating bass as part of their signature. They played until the exact stroke of midnight. Kitchen closed at 9 so no late night snacks to compensate, but the bar stays open until the wee hours. We sought out Starbucks for a low-risk breakfast (meaning a full English gets old when you are touring for more than a couple of days).

Dear kt997, Thank you for your review, I am most pleased to read that you found the room comfortable and the location ideal for your stay in Eastbourne. Whilst we are indeed a contemporary hotel we also do host pre booked functions to which we do our upmost to ensure our hotel guests are not disrupted by said functions. During the build up to and evening of functions we ensure notices are placed informing guests accordingly. We have our guest bar open until midnight with the kitchen open until 9pm which is when we offer a 24 hour room service menu. If we had been aware of your frustrations from this function during your stay our Guest Service Manager team would have been more than happy to have discussed this with you. We do wish you well in your tour and do hope you will consider staying with ourselves again if ever in Eastbourne. Kind Regards Drew Wilton Senior Guest Services Manager

Had a Twixmas break here. Parking across the road was easy and the hotel will supply a parking permit for £2 until 11am the next day. The hotel is well located at the better end of the promenade with gardens opposite, and close to the pier and restaurants

We were warmly welcomed and our side seaview room was reasonably spacious with a fantastic view of the seafront and pier although it was too windy to spend much time on the balcony. The heavy curtains kept out any draft or light. Despite being near the lift it was very quiet. Everywhere was very clean but there were very few toiletries in the bathroom and the toilet paper was of very poor quality. Only one tiny "Lotus" biscuit each.

We had two hot drinks in the bar area. It is quite an attractive space and you can get a window seat and watch the world go by. On both occasions service was abysmally slow with the staff preferring to talk to each other. The drinks when they arrived were good. The lady welcoming everyone to breakfast was very cheerful. At 8.30 there was a wide choice of seat, by 9 the dining room was almost full. There was a good selection of food but the hot items had been cooked maybe an hour earlier as they all looked shrivelled and tasted just ok.

If we visit Eastbourne again we would certainly consider staying here again but might upgrade to a better room.

The View Hotel

Eastbourne

Unexpectedly disappointed.

896515262

So let me start by saying that this was our third stay at the view hotel. Had originally stayed here in the early 2000's, when the Hotel was known as the Eastbourne Centre and was owned by the TGW union. When we booked this time was unaware that the Hotel rating had dropped from 4 star to 3 star. Our 2nd visit was maybe 5 years ago just after some refurbishment had been completed. This is when I believe the dining room had been altered and the ceiling lowered to create another floor for conference usage. Prior to this I remember the dining room having a large mural, depicting workers rather beautiful we thought. The Hotel was built in 1974, completely from materials and workers from the UK, I believe that all the tiles came from Staffordshire potteries and all furnishing and supplies including the cutlery were British made. The exterior of the hotel is not particularly attractive but before refurbishment the interior was very 70's, fantastically retro, very quirky will a great atmosphere. Sadly this has all now gone, the hotel feels very corporate, bland and uninviting. Noted that all the staff wear Jeans and trainers, none of them appeared happy to be at work, particularly unfriendly at reception. The bedrooms are as remembered although furniture is showing signs of age , scratches on tables and grimy chairs. very basic hospitality tray and limited toiletries in the bathroom. Beds were comfortable and the room spacious. The room was at the back of the hotel, so no nice views and lots of seagull droppings on ledges of windows. Air conditioning unit was noisy, ear plugs required. Bathroom was fine, plenty of hot water, extractor fan didn't seem to work.
Stayed room only but added breakfast for a very reasonable £12.95 each, found out why it was so cheap in the morning. Supposed to be a Buffet breakfast, but the hot food choices were served by a chef, everything else you had to get yourself?Would have preferred to serve myself, if this has anything to do with COVID, then it would be a surprise as the hotel no longer provides individual jam/marmalade portions, just bowls with either choice of raspberry, strawberry or marmalade, not particularly hygienic in these times.
Cooked food was poor in quality, low quality sausages, fruit salad definitely not freshly prepared, no croissant, drinks from a machine, limited bread choice, breakfast room crowded, inadequate staff to clear tables.
We paid including breakfast £140 for a one night stay on a Saturday in a twin city facing room. The booking agent we used had discounted the room by about £40, otherwise it would have cost £180.Overpriced in my opinion for the quality and service provided,

Great hotel , fabulous location , right on the sea front in the centre of the town . Parking available outside the front on the promenade for which you can purchase a daily permit which costs a couple of pounds . Lifts available in the hotel , Room was large , clean and modern . Very clean and spacious . Booked a single room , big mistake forgot what it’s like in a single bed … my fault there . Breakfast was great with plenty of choice and variety and seating was well planned out so as not to feel like a cafe . Downside - no nice biscuits in the room expected from this type of hotel and hotel receptionists gave different information out but that’s minor . Would definitely stay here again

We spent 3 nights at this lovely hotel. I wanted to write a review as so often accessible rooms in hotels are just that. Accessible by wheelchair and a wet room but with no other necessities for s disabled person.
The View accessible sea view room (209,) had everything my husband needed as a wheelchair user with very limited mobility. Plenty of grab rails in the bathroom, lowered sinks, a shower seat and an amazing shower.
The room has a balcony and had a ramp for wheelchair users to be able to access the balcony and enjoy the lovely view of the sea.
The beds were very comfortable and the room very clean.
The whole hotel is wheelchair accessible.
Breakfast in the artisan restaurant was self service but there was always someone to help if needed . The buffet included hot and cold choices.
The Vista cafe had a good selection on the menu and served food until 9pm. The bar was open until late.
We were personally disappointed with the evening menu in the Artisan restaurant .
It had a limited menu and included a lot of what was available in the cafe ( eg pizza fish and chips etc) only 2 tables were occupied which didn't give much atmosphere. The food we had a nice but personally we would prefer a more varied menu .
The staff in all areas were really helpful, friendly and kind.
We were not made to feel any different to able bodied guests which we have experienced on other hotels.
We are looking forward to a return visit in the Autumn A big thank you to all the staff who made our stay do enjoyable.and a big tick for whoever designed the accessible rooms.
( I have read another review which said toom ,211 doesn't have a ramp I go the balcony)

Not as such that I saw. However, there are plenty of parking spaces around and across from the hotel and they are free and unlimited with a Blue Badge displayed. We have been twice and never had a problem, parking right outside the door on a number of occasions.
