A February week at The Merrydale was an experience never to be forgotten. Storm Dennis brought some dreadful weather but the heartwarming welcome to a warm, comfortable, spotlessly clean room, great company and excellent home cooked food made a perfect break in this delightful 'home from home by the sea'. Kind, friendly and extremely attentive - even coming to Holyhead to collect us after a delayed sailing - Brian and Xia are the King and Queen of the hospitality sector in Llandudno. First class service at a moderate cost. We will be returning as soon as possible. Visit Merrydale to enjoy the comforts of the BEST guesthouse in Wales : you won't be disappointed.

This was our 2nd visit to the Merrydale ,Always a warm welcome from Brian 😀situated on a lovely street ,only a five min walk to the prom ! Good value for money Tasty breakfast cooked by Brian’s wife and wifi included .Comfortable well appointed rooms nicely decorated and spotlessly clean and free on street parking available ,coupled with excellent weather enabling scenic cable car ride ! So all in all a fabulous Llandudno weekend even with the covid restrictions .Needless to say there will be a third visit !

We stayed here for two nights this week as a family of four, in a designated family room. A great sized room with lots of space to spread out. Although the kids were in the room they had their own little nook so were able to do their thing away from us. The room was comfortable and clean with ample towels, toiletries and beverage making facilites. This guest house is in a central location, close to attractions and amenities so perfect for families. We had breakfast here each morning and the cooked breakfasts were great, no complaints just what we needed for long days walking with lots of choice for all tastes. The hosts were welcoming, friendly and accommodating and if we were ever to visit Llandudno again I would stay here without question. Thank you!

This was my second visit to Llundudno but my first stay at Merrydale Guest House. I received a wonderful welcome by my hosts and 'check in' was quick but informative. Xia took my case as we ascended the stairs and showed me to my single room. Breakfast was at 09.00 which suited me perfectly and I tried two different options, both of which were tasty and substantial. Brian was front of house looking after the guests and Mia cooked our breakfast. I didn't make use of the bar and lounge area, nonetheless, they were very inviting. Guests were friendly and consideration was shown towards other guests when returning late at night. I found free parking in the road right outside. Merrydale offers very competitive rates compared to other B&Bs/hotels I looked at so I wouldn't hesitate to book there again.

We loved our stay in Llandudno and decided to book an extra night. I wish we hadnt have booked to stay here!

We booked via booking.com the pictures did not match where we stayed at all quite a dingy looking B & B. We payed £146 for the family room
2 plug sockets didnt work. Tv didnt work and as soon as we steped into this place we were gutted.

In the room the chest of drawers were held up on costers.

We booked breckfast in good faith but when we saw the room we would eat in we decided to cancel! This was dine on booking.com the day before breckfast.

We spoke to Brian about our cancelation and he said he could not refund us as he would pay a fee to refund us with booking.com. We canceled the day before breckfast
within half hour of arriving at the hotel. Totally unfair system. We book breckfast in faith Booking.com allows a breckfast add on delete service yet you cant do this with Brian he doesnt want to refund our money and we need to forfeit £16 we paid for breckfast!

This B&B should not advertise on Booking.com if they dont follow the booking.com way of booking etc and when speaking to Booking.com anything issues like this need to be dealt with directly.

A sad end to a beautifull stay! On a positive note the Boutique Hotel is amazing! Clean beautifull rooms with car parking stay here same money amazing!

So you are the wife of 19ravl who likes to through in the race card to start a conversation, so I have already posted to him. The public and regulars to The Merrydale will probably look at you review and laugh at a couple of self entitled, obnoxious opportunists. We have a family room for four, that you decided to book for two, your decision. My wife who is Chinese works tremendously hard to make sure that all rooms are cleaned and sanitised as required in these Covid times. But no you leave the room in a horrible state, chocolate stains on the twin beds, banana and welsh cakes and bed. Frankly you should be ashamed of yourselves with the state of the room when you left. As I said to you partner please have some respect for others if you want to be respected, If this review stops the nasty ignorant racists from coming to the Merrydale I thank you.

Brian and Xia really looked after us this weekend. We initially booked 2 rooms at a really reasonable price then other family members booked another 2 rooms which Brian accommodated at very short notice. All of the rooms were spotless and we all commented on how comfy the beds were. There was plenty of tea and coffee available in the room with extra milk available in the hallway which i thought was a nice touch as very rarely do you get enough in your room, but Brian and Xia have thought of everything. Was pleasantly surprised to have the rooms serviced after just one night with the beds made and tea and coffee, toilet rolls etc replenished! Never known it in a guest house before! Breakfast was very well organised and well cooked and tasty with extras like cereal, fruit, yogurt and fruit juices. Merrydale is a well run ship! We visit Llandudno quite often and after staying in a couple of hotels prior to this visit we cant wait to return to Merrydale, its a great little find! Thanks for a lovely stay!

This b and b is in a great location if ur going out at night time . It's close to the majority of pubs . The owners were very friendly, made suggestions for the day and told us jokes at breakfast. The fun atmosphere at breakfast set a good tone for our day.
The owners were very accommodating.

We stayed at the Merrydale for 2 nights 15-17June, the owners Brian and Xia were lovely.
Brian front of house and Xia making breakfast which was absolutely lovely especially Bacon and Sausage (locally sourced)
A big thank you to Brian and Xia for the personal touch of a birthday card and cake for my dads 80th, that was really nice of them 😊
My only observation was hotel was advertised as having a stairlft (pics included) which was a massive plus for us as my dad struggles with stairs, they only had it on 2 flights of stairs so 2 flights to walk.

We would definitely go back again but would request lower floor for room.

Breakfast area quite small so 2 sittings required, 8am and 9am which needs to be booked.
Beds extremely comfortable, towels supplied were very clean and fluffy.

Another two night stay at The Merrydale, another enjoyable time. Stayed in the newly refurbished and redesigned larger room 4, which is now a spacious light and airy room with plenty of wardrobe space, large double very comfortable bed. Tea & coffee, fluffy white soft towels and plenty of sockets for all your phones, tablets etc.

Again Brian and Xia were the perfect hosts, nothing too much trouble. Fully Covid compliant and a tasty, hot quality breakfast. You cannot go wrong booking The Merrydale for its central location, clean welcoming rooms, price and fantastic hosts.

Thank you again Brian and Xia xx

Hi, I am also well traveled and working in the Middle East Africa US and Europe in customer orientated business. Whilst the customer is always right 99% of the time it would be unprofessional not to highlight those that are not and take other peoples good will and hard-work for granted. You stayed on a busy weekend when the house was full of mainly returning guests who enjoy the the Merrydale for what it is economical, clean, comfortable and a great breakfast. Guests that stayed in your same rooms either side of you were content on a weekend that we had some of the worst rain for ages. Heating was supplied to your rooms, wet towels discarded in the sinks on both days were replaced without question and when asked if you had any requirements to make your stay more comfortable you said no and still haven't paid for your breakfasts. I am happy to let the vast majority of customers form their own opinion. We are pleased that you have chosen another venue for your stay next time and are sure that they will be delighted with your return.
