Travellers' Choice
This artfully designed boutique Hotel and Restaurant in Suffolk reflects luxury and dazzles in the waterfront of Ipswich's vibrant Harbour quayside at night. The Salthouse Harbour Hotel goes beyond what you expect and exudes its 4 star status in every curious corner, eccentric sofa and unstuffy cushion. The sea-salted brickwork exterior has been restored & rejuvenated into a ship shape contemporary warehouse of rich modern interiors and rooms adorned with vintage furniture, sculptures and eclectic art. Within its comfy chic decor, although the mood is friendly and relaxed, the staff are professionally attentive to your every need. The cuisine is exciting and the popularity of the Salthouse Eaterie fills this delightful waterfront restaurant as soon as the tables are laid.

This is a fantastic hotel, truly is 5 Star for service, comfort and cleanliness. On arrival we were able to park in the hotel car park, which when full the gates are locked, great to know your car is safe. The check in was easy and the receptionist was helpful and very friendly. We stayed in a Marine view room with copper bath. The room was eclectic, with lots of lovely pieces. The walk in shower was very spacious. We had a cafetière for the coffee, wonderful touch. Wish we had stayed in summer, because we could imagine sitting in the room with windows wide open, watching the boats go out. The hotel is in a really good position, with a lot of choices to eat in the local area and 5 minutes walk from the town, which is quite big with lots of old buildings. We stopped off in a bar, called Bar 21, after our shopping spree, which was really good, the bar manager and bar staff very friendly. We ate in the hotel, the service and food was excellent. We also had breakfast, two things stood out you can either have the breakfast in your room (no extra charge) or in the restaurant, table service, no buffet, so the food was hot and freshly cooked. All in all a great stay, we will be back. Thank you Salthouse Harbour Hotel.

We stayed the day before Christmas Eve, our treat and emotional charger before we spent Christmas with and looking after elderly parents. Our visit was a real treat. One of the best hotel experiences ever. It certainly won't be our last. We chose 'The Dining Experience' which was amazing value. We had fantastic food from the moment we first ordered snacks with our wine. The hotel was busy with Christmas parties and our table booked for dinner was late but we were given the choice of it being on time or if we would be happy waiting half an hour with our drinks whilst our waitress, in her words, 'makes it pretty for you'. It was a very pretty table, worth waiting for, to follow up a lovely bedroom with fantastic toiletries. Gorgeous food. Breakfast was served in our room at no extra charge. Apart from noisy heating early morning, (although I wake at a sparrows cough), there was nothing to fault. What deserves special mention and we can't praise them highly enough was every, single, member of staff who looked after us. Every single one of them. From reception, bar, breakfast and dinner. Our waitress that night whose name I can't remember, possibly Rebecca (yep, wine was good as well!) was absolutely delightful; enough attention without being over bearing. We'll be back on our regular trips home to Suffolk and feel it important to check out their establishment in Bury St Edmunds. Salthouse, thank you! Can't wait to return.

Booked the January recharge offer which was great value at just £80 per night per person. It included a three course meal with a cocktail, overnight stay and breakfast. A lovely surprise to be upgraded to a beautiful harbour view room. Service was excellent with lovely friendly staff. Amazing cocktails and lovely food. Everywhere was so clean with very beautiful decor
