Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here for two night with mates and we all had such a laugh. David was great and gave us a quick tour of the place then left us to our own devices, and we had a superb time from start to end. The pub is ace… we bought a barrel and enjoyed pouring pints, playing darts and other games, and used the kitchen too. The rooms were all really spacious and we were chuffed with the quality. Every one had an en suite. Would definitely recommend staying as a great experience - loved it.

As a family of 6 (3 generations) plus a dog we were anticipating a wonderful xmas break in a surprising location - a pub - and all to ourselves. We arrived a couple of days before xmas and were greeted by our host, David. We were shown around and advised where everything was. The bedrooms were excellent - warm, clean and tidy, well heated, plenty of hangars, and television and hot drinks facilities in all rooms. One bedroom had a shower room suitable for disability user (me) and all other rooms had en-suites. The lounge and bar areas provided plenty of eating and resting space and we appreciated the log fire making everything comfortable. The kitchen was huge - dish washer, microwave, fridge etc. Regrettably the weather could not be controlled but we had bought games with us as well as our xmas gifts. There were also some games provided. Taunton was an easy journey for a day out and one of our party went fly fishing at Bell Brook - caught 3 very nice trout for that evening's meal. Xmas day and the table provided plenty of space for our xmas roast. We decorated the table ourselves but David had decorated the room and the xmas tree that was in the courtyard . Our dog (a husky) made herself at home. A field about 5 minutes drive away provided a dog walking area. A couple more days and we had to return to our various homes after a very pleasant family break. Thank you David.

We spent an amazing bank holiday weekend at Fitzhead Inn ! David is an amazing host and the place overreached our expectations. The rooms were spacious , very clean and had extremely comfortable beds. The nights were pure heaven with no noise and starry skies. The inn has a fully equipped kitchen which made a very enjoyable and easy task from cooking dinner. The lounge area is perfect for a lazy afternoon or spending time together with your friends. We’re definitely looking forward on revisiting this great place, it truly was an excellent getaway from our busy London.

This was a surprise weekend I booked for a group of 5 couples. Very good communication from outset from owner, David. Small bar. Decent size lounge dining area. Well equipped kitchen. 5 good letting rooms with eggs and bacon provided. Nice outside space. It’s a unique experience.... a pub to yourselves for the weekend. David was on hand, but never intrusive. Great time had by all. Recommended.

Well, where do I start !! We stayed here in July 2018 We are a group of friends all in our early 60’s who hired the whole property including all five rooms and the pub as a self catering holiday let. We have hired many self catering holiday let’s in the past but this one must be just about the worst, we were extremely disappointed. Although the bedrooms were all quite comfortable, they could of all done with a proper clean, there were spiders and webs everywhere in the bedrooms and when we asked the owner if we could borrow the hoover he was very reluctant to let us use it. The catering kitchen was very grubby, we had to wash items of cutlery, crockery and pots and pans before we could use them. The colour coded chopping boards were disgusting, badly stained and totally unhygienic. There is no dishwasher available in the massive kitchen although there was a glass washer in the bar which we were told by the owner not to use as he said it was very temperamental. The living area was also very grubby, there were slug trails across the carpet every morning. We were not aware as it was not mentioned anywhere in the property description that the owner actually lives on the property above the pub. He was very intrusive walking through the living room/dining room at any time he wanted to, even whilst we were eating our evening meal or relaxing watching tv etc. We will certainly never return to this place and would definitely NOT recommend it to anyone. We would strongly advise anyone not to book this accommodation unless you want a live in lodger for the whole of your stay.

What an absolute fabrication. A total pack of lies. You have obviously tried threat to blacken my name because I told you keep the noise down and stop drinking At 5am (yes 5 in morning ).you were still drinking Our neighbours were complaining of the noise They threatened to call the police. I could have lost my license !!!. Why is it that over 100 guest have stayed here. All of them saying how clean and nice the pub is and how helpful I was. What a shame you have resorted to victimisation to get your own back. " ..............................................

I have been to the Fitzhead Inn a few times over the last few years. The food there is always good. We had 7 Roast Beef dinners for Sunday lunch. the Beef was tasty and properly cooked. The Roast Potatoes were crispy on the outside and Fluffy in the middle and the veg was properly cooked. The Pub seems to be suffering from a lack of custom but I cannot understand why. I can recommend this to anyone wanting a Quiet Sunday lunch in a small country pub.

We stayed on a cold night. The duvets were only 10 tog not enough for a badly insulated cold room. There were no extra blankets, we had to use our coats on top of the bed to keep warm. There was a dispute over the cost of the room which was not handled gracefully. The full breakfast was an additional cost and was barely adequate. Not impressed and wouldn't recommend.

Sorry you were not happy with your staff Additional blankets are available on request The building being old has very thick walls and well insulated this is why we have medium tog duvets I also note your comment about breakfast you booked room only and was offered the choice of breakfast if required Looking back at many other reviews our breakfasts offered at the price are excellent value for money Any issues you had should ofbeen raised at the time

I stayed here one night as part of a birthday weekend organised for me by my partner. The room was spacious, clean and had a nice style about it. We had a problem with the shower hose and the host (he was standing in for the owner while he was on holiday) was incredibly helpful and genuinely apologetic. We solved the problem and we were very happy with the response but were still given a glass of wine on the house later that evening. A great response to a minor issue. The double bed was lovely and comfortable and the breakfast the next morning was very enjoyable too (with a veggie option for me). Highly recommended if in the Taunton area and want to be in the countryside or are visiting the West Somerset Railway nearby.
