Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our theatre company were fortunate in being booked into Flora’s Barn and the Old Bakery whilst touring in the area. Our hosts attention to detail was exceptional. We loved everything about the cottages; the decor and antique furniture and, overall the beautiful sympathetic restoration of both properties. Everything is squeaky clean and there are far too many lovely touches to mention. The garden and grounds were lovely and the views - wonderful with lots of wild flowers, birds and animals. The Quantock Hills are eye wateringly beautiful. We had a great time exploring local walks, talking to the hosts ponies and eating and drinking with friendly locals in the village pub. Even warmer than the wood burning stoves, was the welcome from Jacqui and Bruce. They went out of their way to enable us to park a large van in the pretty courtyard and were helpful in every possible way. This is a superb base for exploring the area and it is difficult to imagine a better location for exploring the many attractions and countryside in the area.

We arrived at Town End Farm to the warmest of welcomes from Bruce and Jacqui at the start of a brilliant week in Floras Barn. The property is incredibly well designed, equipped with everything you could need and the views from the lounge are captivating, overlooking beautiful countryside and amazing sunsets!! There is so much walking direct from the cottage, and a village pub a short stroll away where we were greeted like old friends by both staff and local customers alike. We ventured out to East Quantoxhead for a walk to Kilve, otherwise we just stayed local, enjoying the scenery, varied wildlife (pheasants, squirrels, rabbits and birds), cows in the adjacent field and of course daily visits to Bruce and Jacquis sheep and miniature ponies . A wonderful week, thank you both so much.

We had a fabulous week's holiday at the Old Bakery. It's a really beautiful cottage full of character and charm and, good as they are, the photographs of the interior fail to do it justice. It is ridiculously well equipped with everything you could possibly need and feels more like a home than a holiday let. The location and setting are perfect. The village is pretty, there are great walks all around in stunning scenery and the coasts of Somerset and Devon are very easy to reach. We found several good pubs nearby....including the one in the village which has decent beer, serves food and is dog friendly. All in

Just returned form two weeks in The Old Bakery cottage, wow what a place. From start to finish we had such a wonderful break. Bruce and Jackie really go the extra mile, in fact they go a mile extra!! There is nothing that has been left to chance, every single thing has been thought about. After a long stressful drive, to arrive to milk for a cup of tea, a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge, and for me, the best thing ever, some beautiful fresh flowers in the kitchen, it was worth every moan on the M5!! The whole house is just stunning, beautifully crafted furniture and lovely unique original features make it so special to stay here. Situated in a lovely village with a great pub and wonderful walks all around you, what more could you want! There really isn’t anything negative that I can think of, absolutely nothing! Lovely location very quiet and quaint yet only half hour to Taunton /Minehead. Shops in nearby Williton if needed, we recommend Kilve beach for the fossils! Overall this is such a wonderful place I would highly recommend that you stay here, you will have the most peaceful break. The one thing that really made it special, after such a bad time for us all, was a tiny posy of real flowers that were on the bedside table. I hadn’t realised they were real until a few days later. I was overwhelmed that someone had taken the time to pick these tiny flowers for me! They were beautiful and really really made my stay, a tiny thing, but it meant so much to me. Thank you so much

Our third stay in Flora’s Barn and it’s still fantastic. There’s always a warm welcome from Bruce and Jacqui. It’s always spotlessly clean and they’ve thought of everything for a perfect stay. We used to be in the business so we know how much love and care has gone into it. This was our first time in winter but it was lovely and cosy especially with the log burner roaring. Fantastic views over the fields even in February. The Carew Arms is a short walk away and there’s a village shop for groceries. Great for dogs too. We’ll be back!

Wonderful welcome by Bruce. Supplied us with cream scones on arrival. The cottage was once an old bakery and they have kept a lot of the original features. The bedrooms were spacious, beds were very comfortable. The country style kitchen is well equipped. The cottage is situated in a small village and there is a pub and village shop nearby. Would definitely recommend

You cannot get better than this! Never mind the walking trails. Go for all the local pubs (maybe for those who are CAMRA members). Or a car trip up to the top of the Quantock Hills to see the wildlife. Or West Somerset Railway (from Crowcombe & Heathfield Station) and a pint at the Quantock brewery. Or the Tarr Steps! Very useful information brochure in the property and excellent recommendations. If circumstances permit will be back. Whatever, you cannot get better than this! Sorry to repeat.

The reviews are well deserved. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Brilliant place for walking and mountain biking. Loved the emergency box with toothpaste etc for Londoners who have left various items behind in their haste to enjoy the weekend! Bruce and Jacqui are indeed the perfect hosts and the kids loved being introduced to the horses and also playing in the games room. We will be back for sure.
