We hired the Lambert room upstairs for a small hen party of 13. Due to the size of the group and time of our booking, there was no charge for the hire of the room which was very much appreciated. David was extremely patient and helpful throughout the very long lead-up to this event due to the pandemic and having to re-arrange our date a couple of times.
On the day, the room was beautifully laid out with fresh flowers on the table, crisp white linen and the space itself was lovely and quiet. The room had it's own toilets upstairs which meant we were completely private to the rest of the bar and hotel. The young lady helping us on the day with arrival drinks and service was fantastic, infact the whole team were very accomodating including the kitchen who kindly swopped some savoury items onto the afternoon tea for the non-cake eaters!! (I know.. ladies who don't like cake, I think we were a first!)
A perfect day spent at the Crown with lots of happy memories, a big thank you to David and the team.

I organised a Sunday Lunch for 14 Adults, 4 children and 2 babies. We had sole use of an upstairs dining room at no extra charge, and supplied menu choices 2 weeks in advance.
The tables looked lovely, service was prompt and efficient, and food hot and tasty.
Nothing was tsoo much trouble down to separating food and drinks bill and adding additional desserts when the amazing Sticky Toffee pudding was dished up!
Special mention to the waitresses Sarah and a young girl with long blonde hair in a pony tail!
Will definitely return.

3 of us were given the room 34, an excellent room for a family.
Spacious, quiet, clean, modern shower room, comfy beds along with premium coffee service + free bottles of mineral water - they provide you what are needed as the guests.
Breakfast choices are so wide that we needed a couple of minutes to decide, which was an enjoyable experience. Definitely recommendable.

Met some friends for lunch at The Crown recently. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff excellent. The food though was only average and very pricey for what you get. £8.50 for a bowl of soup and £9.50 (!) for a baguette with the bare minimum of filling, a bit of coleslaw and some leaves. No fries with it…they are £4.95 (!!!) for a smallish bowl. I appreciate that prices are higher in Stamford because it’s a beautiful location, but other venues offer a much much better lunchtime sandwich/soup for less. Sadly, we won’t be going again because it’s prohibitively expensive for a mediocre lunch.

My wife and i stayed here at the weekend and were really impressed by the staff and the super swish room we booked (roll top bath overloooking the church and main square with all of its xmas lights - magical!) Our check in was dealt with by Hannah who was super freindly and got us in with no fuss at all. We also wanted to mention the young waitress (Bethany) who managed to keep her cool while serving us our meal in the evening when it was super busy - she done a great job under a lot of pressure. Lastly a big thanks to Toni for booking beforehand on the phone, again really freindly and helpful which made us feel looked after. PS, breakfast was really well organised and very tasty. I would stay here again - i would live here if i could afford it!!!! Well done team.

This was our second stay at this inn as we enjoyed our previous stay so much. All rooms are individually decorated. Loved the in room tea and coffee, especially the hot chocolate and the bottled water. Fresh milk is available from the fridge on the corridor. We had a shower room this time which was great with powerful shower. Great food in the pub below. Good portions and helpful bar staff. If you are vegetarian ask for a separate menu.

The breakfast is a buffet (cereal, toast, fruit, yoghurt etc) as well as items that can be ordered from the kitchen.

We were aware that the hotel is a pub and so weren't so worried about the noise from the bar below or the street it overlooks, because after closing time all goes quiet.

The only negative was that we tried to open the windows to get some air overnight, but was unable to so it was a little stuffy.

Spacious airy room. Bed was well worn and clearly needs a new mattress as it warped in the middle. Lovely pillows. Very clean. No herbal teas, but fresh milk was supplied.
Bring earplugs as very noisy from 5.30am with noise from ground floor.

Morning waitress didn't listen to orders and gave wrong orders. Food was tasty.

Why clump everyone together in a small area when the restaurant is empty? Happened at breakfast and dinner. Table of loud four put next a couple for dinner when the restaurant was empty? Where's the logic?

Centrally located. Parking adequate but limited.

Interesting that on the website it omitted to state that some rooms do not have a shower. (Very disappointed that ours only had a bath.) This would lead you to believe that all do indeed have showers. Never yet been to a hotel that didn't clearly state exactly what the bedroom facilities included..or didn't.

The food was good and 4* quality but service for dinner was very slow and innattentive even though the restaurant was very quiet.

Six of us had the misfortune to book a table for six at lunch time on Sunday 8 March. Upon arrival, no knowledge of booking. Service was very very slow, to take drink orders and deliver, to take main meal order and deliver, to take sweet order and deliver, all took tooooo long. Also tables left unclean, used pottery and glasses etc left for considerable time on adjacent tables, not a good sign.
The food was nice. I would NOT GO AGAIN DUE TO THE FAILINGS DETAILED. Staff did not appear to be friendly either, “ male stood talking to friends “ for ages without asking us what did we require, he did not clear the adjacent tables. I thought he was the owner/boss. Not a good example set.
A lady did come with apologies, after main course, I think, but by that time it was too little too late. When making payment, I was not asked “ was all ok etc “ again very poor staff/training

Went for lunch with the family. Service was very poor even though there was plenty of staff on. Our drinks sat on the bar for around ten minutes so my husband ended up going and getting them himself. That was after him trying to get someone’s attention for a while to even order them! My little one spilt her drink and the male waiter just literally threw the paper towel at us. Food was crap the eat out to help out scheme was involved it still cost us £65 it should have been £100 yet was worth around £30 at the very most. My steak sandwich was nothing but onion chutney! Just awful all round!
