Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Avoid like the plague. Checked in Monday 5th January. All seemed ok. Went down to the bar for a drink and was greeted by the most foul mouthed individual. The guy that checked us in now working behind the bar. Continuously dropping the f word with other customers in the bar. Looked at food menu but decided to eat out. First night was waken at 02.30 by a loud vibrating/ buzzing noise coming from the electric box over the door. (Contractor vibrating). So pulled out the key card from the switch. Then the road noise kicked in at about 04.00. No warning in the hotel description about it being on a busy road. Worse to come. Wednesday night got up to go to toilet. There turns out to be a two from the bedroom floor to the bathroom tiles of a good 15mm. Stubbed my toe on the edge. Result, broken toe. Pointed this out to reception and was met with, has it always been like that? Had no other complaints and it’s our most popular room. Colleague I was working with had a separate room and his room was just as noisy with traffic and the electrics. Emailed the hotel and included photos but no response at all. Did eat one night off the very limited menu of which only 2/3rd of the menu was actually available. Fish chips and peas was ok but obviously fried from frozen.

My main complaint with this hotel was the inability to get any sleep. The one thing which should be an absolute given is a night's sleep. Upon checking into our room it was unbearably hot inside the room; the weather was incredibly hot plus the rooms did not have any air conditioning. Now I totally understand not all hotel's have air-conditioning, I get that, however those which don't will offer the use of a fan. When I enquired about a fan the response I received was "sorry we don't have any left". I'm sorry but a fan should be available for every room in a hotel with no air-conditioning. They were not prepared to give me any money to get a fan from across the road in the shops, £10 for a basic fan & they wasn't bothered. With the room directly on a main road with traffic continuously passing & the need to have the windows open to at least attempt to get some air in the room this made sleep impossible. If I could have gone home I would gladly of left however no public transport was available until the next day. Absolutely horrendous & I will not be returning to this hotel again. I can not recommend a hotel which is not prepared to do everything it can for their guests whom are paying hard earned money for a non existent opportunity to get any sleep. Furthermore the room had the smallest television. Now I am aware a television is not everything but given the inability to sleep there was not much opportunity to watch any television whilst unable to sleep due to the tiny television within the room. There was a hole in one wall within the room, not a great sight! The bathroom was in need of some care for sure; not even a toilet roll dispenser in the bathroom, only a toilet roll storage holder on the floor. Very bad cases of damp on the bathroom walls as well especially around the shower.

Filthy bedroom carpet badly stained bathroom as lots of black mould in grouting. Attended a wedding here if it was not this I would not have stayed £ 50 room only a insult. They get away with standard because it is wedding venue and no other hotels near. Food not good either! no fruit juice available at breakfast. Would advise anyone attending a wedding to find other accomodation

Where do I start?!? Good points: Nice lady on reception Bad points: Rooms need updating. Far too hot in the rooms, no aircon, just windows. It’s very loud all night next to the main road so sleep is difficult. Not enough toilet roll. My friend got stuck in the bathroom as the handle wasn’t screwed onto the door properly so when we went down to reception to tell them, they said they would come take a look. Didn’t realise taking a look at a broken door handle with my mate inside would require the cleaner and receptionist’s help! They need a proper maintenance person on hand. They said they would get someone out to it straightaway but we went back down stairs and found them all gossiping about the situation and not actually doing anything about it. We managed to free my friend in the end without their help but they never checked to see if my mate was freed. I will not be staying here. I don’t recommend it to anyone.

Not a great experience. Stayed in the "Bridal Suite" There was nothing at all special with this room apart from the size and an enormous bed! The room felt unclean and furnishings very tired. Looks ok in the photos! The sofas were like sitting on wood. The tables looked liked something from a second hand shop. The bed sheets didn't look well cleaned with signs of staining and there was traces of what looked liked dried blood on the bedside table and carpet. My wife felt it just wasn't a clean bed or room. The room, although very large is on the main road which on the Sunday night was used by youngsters for drag racing! It was very noisy. Needed earplugs. No facilities such as hair dryer, ironing board, water, etc. The bathroom is in need of modernising, The toilet seat was very loose and stained. No shower or shampoo included. Had to ask for more loo rolls and towels as room only serviced every other day. To call this a bridal suite is a complete misrepresentation. Just call it an extra large room! Breakfast was good, cheap and hot. No 'proper' coffee though, just instant packets. No fruit juice either. Lots of free parking though. Bar was ok and reasonably priced. A very budget 2* Hotel at best. Staff were pleasant. Sorry won't be back though.

Stayed the night whilst attending a gig at the arena (10 mins on the tram) . Had seen the reviews and was prepared for the worst. What I got instead was a series of pleasant surprises. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming, the room was clean and spacious. Few licks of paint wouldn't go amiss but certainly nothing terrible. Have paid more for far worse (for a price guide I paid £80 for a family room when rooms were going for £200 plus for an easy hotel/Travelodge in Sheffield) Our room was above the bar and yes there was a fair bit of noise but having read the website we expected this. It was basically the cast of phoenix nights murdering classics of the last 5 decades on the karaoke. It all went off at midnight and sleep was had by all. Another friendly receptionist at checkout and we were on our way.

I decided to book with my two teenagers due to attending a function two hrs drive from home. I truly wish I had not wasted my money now .We booked the family room and it was completely unsafe for anyone with small children. For a start a dirty chair and uncomfortable mattresses on the single beds and that came from two older teenagers who can sleep for England .But the worst was the window and the shower . The shower is broken you cannot alter the temperature it is actually scalding hot which is really unsafe .The owner told me I was not using it properly , I use exact same model at work daily, the button to set the temp is missing. The window the restrictor is broken so it opens wide enough for a adult let alone a child to climb out and on the other side there is a chair underneath, that makes you wonder . I brought this to the receptionist attention on leaving. I knew we had booked the last available big enough room and told her to which the owner came steaming into reception saying he did not believe me , I have photo's he then proceeded to tell me I was serial complainer and to go ahead report him to trading standard and put on a bad review on trip advisor see if he cared , considering I had never met this man before I actually found his behaviour completely unprofessional and incredibly rude . When you pay £90 for a room you expect to feel safe , my telling him that anyone could come up the stairs that are to the left of the window and into the balcony and just climb in was met with no they can't. Bear in mind the stairs go down to the beer garden and rest hotel. The heat in the room was awful not one of us slept as no way was I opening the window with my two children in the room .I have never ever been met such an unprofessional, rude business owner before, that is now how you deal with guests concerns. I will be reporting to trading standards and whoever else I can just because the room is so unsafe and I have pictures to back this up .

After a 4 night stay, the following expressed: Good prices £45/night. Location good for my trip. However, Mattress (single room) blooming awful. Worn out / no support / sleep pattern disturbed as a result. Sadly, also room service intermittent - daily basic supplies inconsistent, disappointing. Overall ? Will try elsewhere in future.
