What a delightful and cosy place. Myself and my wife selected this Hotel from many available in the area on the basis of its reviews and AA rating. We were not disappointed.
I expected it to be a much bigger establishment from looking at some of the pictures, but, to our delight it was a smaller affair which greatly added to its overall charm.
It was quiet despite other guests being in residence and the staff/owners could not have been more welcoming, while at the same time not overpowering and fussy.
The food was superb for evening meal and breakfast, both being cooked to perfection.
On the whole it was a very comfortable and cosy stay to end a great weekend of travelling covering some 300 miles. Also in my opinion the winner of my "bed of the trip" award for a supremely comfortable nights sleep.
We would definitely stay here again.

This is a small, quiet hotel run by a very friendly couple who work hard to make your stay as pleasant as possible. A short drive from J1 of the M18 so ideal for access to the motorway network.

I arrived tired and hungry and was shown to a good sized, cosy and comfortable room with everything you need for a good stay. Bed was clean and comfortable, a desk for work and a nice bathroom with toiletries, shower was ok too. Fast. free wifi for those who need it.

The hotel offers a limited evening menu and has a small dry bar serving canned/bottled beer, wines and spirits. I think I was the only guest which was fine as the bar/restaurant is quite small. Food was excellent, nicely cooked, piping hot and plentiful and pretty good value.

Breakfast was top notch and rounded off a pleasant stay.

Would I recommend? Yes if you want a comfortable, quiet hotel and I would return if in the area again.

This is a nice place tucked away in a village in Rotherham; stayed on business and had a comfortable stay. Lovely rooms period features and great decor/furniture. Dinner was delicious as was breakfast. Very quiet place which was what I needed after a long day at work. Pleasant hosts

I stayed at The stonecroft recently during a business trip around South Yorkshire. I was warmly welcomed and the property certainly has history and character.
An evening meal is not normally offered, but can be arranged if you want. Breakfast was very nice and well presented.
There are only seven rooms in this hotel, so it's a very different experience to a larger, corporate location. One benefit is that the hotel offers free wireless broadband in all rooms - something not even the big names all offer...
My room was comfortable and well equipped. My bathroom was large and spacious, but the spa bath did not work.
Next time I am in the area, I would certainly stay again.

My husband and myself have just visited Rotherham and needed a hotel for one night. We chose Stonecroft after reading previous views even though it is slightly outside town. We were not disappointed , the hotel is lovely , delightfully quaint ,spotlessly clean and the room was very comfortable as was the bed, lovely little extra homely touches here and there. Also very quiet no traffic noise etc. The whole hotel is really charming and cosy.
The best of it though was the lady who owns it ,Christine, is so welcoming . We felt totally at home the minute we walked in.
Breakfast was perfect couldn't fault in any way and Christine was kind enough to provide a breakfast for my son who met us there.
We could have bussed easily into the town centre but a local taxi firm was quick and reasonable. I would highly recommend Stonecroft Hotel .

I have stayed here on numerous occasions, Christine and John the proprietors are fantastic, welcoming and make me feel part of the family. Ive stayed in most rooms at some point and each one is beautifully furnished and comfortable with the added treat of a chocolate and biscuits on the complimentary tea/coffee tray. The food is amazing beautifully cooked and presented always freshly cooked using the finest ingredients. I cannot praise them and the hotel enough.

Stonecroft Hotel is a quiet well run establishment on the edge of Rotherham. The facilities are more than adequate but perhaps not the most up to date. The hosts are very welcoming and breakfast is great. Coffee also very good - not something which can be said of many establishments. You will not be disappointed and the price is very reasonable.

The hotel is very memorable because you have your own little building as your room. The bed was really comfy and plenty of space in the bathroom. The owners were great and really friendly and the breakfast was one of the best iv had. The only downside is that I had no wi-fi in the room but apart from that I found it perfect. Plenty of parking and the tv room looks great. I didn't eat the evening meal but I caught a glimpse and it looked great . I will return one day I'm sure and hopefully stay for longer than one night this time

Why stay in an anonymous little box in a multi- national chain when you can stay in this delightful, characterful family run hotel? Warm welcome, lovely room (i.e not a box) with a large ensuite, tasteful decor, and comfy bed. After a good night's sleep (no traffic noise), an excellent full english awaits. Heaven! All followed by a smooth check out. Thank you John and Chris. Excellent!

We chose the Stonecroft for a one-night weekend B&B stay, based on previous reviews, whilst attending an athletics event in Sheffield. We were not disappointed.

Our hosts, John & Christine, were very welcoming, friendly, attentive and helpful.

The hotel is a little gem. Very well kept, comfortably decorated and furnished and with all the amenities we look for. The room was well appointed, spotlessly clean and comfortable. TV reception was a little patchy, but this was minor.

Breakfast was very good, too. (A personal afterthought - Black Pudding to be added to the menu?).

We don't normally like 'chain' pub eateries, but we ate at the King Henry (5 mins walk), purely for convenience as we arrived fairly late, but you'd have to go further afield for a wider and better choice of cuisine.

A pleasant stay, excellent value; we'd happily stay here again.

PS: our SatNav insisted on taking us to the wrong end of Main Street (below the one-way section), but we found the hotel soon enough when we used the GPS (Lat/Long) co-ordinates provided on our booking.com booking (it didn't have the house number, 138, in the address).
