This was the best B and B I have ever stayed in...Thanks to Annie and also Anne, The bed was really comfy and I had a good nights sleep. I was made very welcome and the hostess went out of her way to help me, this was of enormous benefit, ...I was able to have a lovely supper thanks to...

From the start Anne the owner was very warm and welcoming. She kept me up to date with my booking via text. Although I did not meet her once more after my first night stay she texted to see if everything was OK. The room was of an excellent standard comfy bed and great linnin. The house itself was very...

Myself and my partner stayed at Baye house for one night, we were looking for somewhere not too expensive and not tacky. I was immediately drawn to placing a booking after looking at the pictures on the Baye house website. It was a special occasion for us so we wanted to stay somewhere nice and we had tickets for a...

Anne the owner is really kind an understanding. The guest kitchen is accessible 24/7 and you can cook your own food at any time. It's good to eat your...

The bedroom was roomy, bed and duvet warm and comfortable with ample supplies of tea and coffee to make in the room. My only complaint would...

Annie only took on this house a few months ago; most of the reviews are for a previous, different property. She has already made a lot of improvements and the rooms are nicely decorated, in keeping with an old and stately house. Muted shades of grey and white are relaxing, there are plentiful rugs on the stripped floorboards and rooms...

Stayed here in September 2015 and it was wonderful. Just a minute's walk from Colchester high street, restaurants and historical attractions, Baye House is a 17th century building that oozes character and charm. Annie the owner has managed to maintain the feeling of history and character whilst providing modern, schmick bathroom facilities and a high level of comfort. I had...

I'm just sorry it's taken me so long to get around to writing this review after I promised Annie I would do it this summer. We stayed at Middlemill Cottage for just one night in early August of 2013 and I wish we could have stayed longer. We were traveling with our little one -- 11 months old at the...

I had a wonderful stay at Middle Mill. The rooms are full of character. I had a lovely view at Castle Park. Annie was very friendly and generous. Colchester is beautiful. Worth a visit and make sure you stay at Middel Mill!

“I chose a room at the back to be closer to the bathroom and avoid any street noise ....although it's a fairly quiet road.”

“All the rooms (just 4 of them) are extremely cute (yes, I peeked). The two front rooms face the street and have double/queen beds while the back rooms are singles. If you're someone who likes a big bed even when traveling alone I would book one of the front rooms. No matter what you will have a lovely stay.”
