I can't say too much, but Lorraine and Martyn agreed to take my booking as a key worker and, I'll be honest, their kindness moved me to tears. It's an awful time to be a health professional, but staying here was such a blessing. I have no words to thank them enough, they know what they did. I will come back here if i can, maybe in better times, with my other half too, and thank them properly
Before we arrived Lorraine went out of her way to find places that we could stop on the way to eat. On arrival we were greeted by Martyn who had a very welcome umbrella! Lorraine greeted us with a tea (she had already asked what we preferred prior to arrival) and lovely home made cake. The house and setting were beautiful. Our room was pristine with beautiful furnishings, stunning views over the countryside and a huge bathroom. Breakfast was first class and everything was home made including marmalade's, breads and muffins. Lorraine had also given great consideration for my dietary requirements. Lorraine and Martyn could not have done more to look after us and make us feel welcome during our stay. It was a real treat and we both felt thoroughly spoilt. We could not recommend Hawksdale Lodge highly enough and will definitely be returning. Genuinely an outstanding B&B.…
We stayed here to go to a local wedding and it is without a doubt the best B&B we’ve ever stayed in. Set in beautiful grounds with stunning 180 degree views across local farmland and the Scottish hills in the distance, the main house is stunning and beautifully decorated. We stayed in The Red Room and my sister stayed in The Caldew Room, both rooms were absolutely stunning, spotlessly clean and all with lovely views - tonic for the soul! The beds were ridiculously comfortable giving us the best night’s sleep, the bathroom was simply stunning (my dream bathroom with a gorgeous roll top bath) and the most delicious homemade breakfast. Our hosts, Lorraine and Martyn, were the loveliest people, welcoming us with delicious coffee and homemade cake (just what we needed after a long drive up the M6 on a bank holiday!). We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay and we’ll definitely stay here again when we’re next up this way!…
Our second visit to the Lodge was even better than our first with Hosts who were most attentive providing absolutely spotless, warm and comfortable accommodation. Overnight was dark, silent (not even an owl) and peaceful leading to an excellent night's sleep. Breakfast was home made EVERYTHING - apart from the honey and eggs - making us extremely happy. This Lodge is most definitely value for money and we would opt for this rather than small hotel anytime.
We booked the apartment at Hawksdale Lodge for last week 14/9 - 21/9. We received a wonderful reception from both Lorraine and Martyn who kindly provided freshly brewed tea and Lorraine's homemade cake on arrival. We were given great advice which was very much appreciated and the apartment was just great. We had a lovely break, we will have fond memories of Lorraine, Martyn and Kit the "sprocker" who I came close to taking home. Sean & Pauline
