My friend and I stayed 2 nights in one of the pods for a birthday hiking trip. We loved everything about the site.
The pods were well organised and clean. We were set up as a twin pod with fresh towels and cutlery/crockery packs provided. There were still restrictions in place but we were able to book the snug on Friday and cooked on the firepit Saturday.
Everything you need is available at the wee shop from wood and kindling, to marshmallows and breakfast pots. We ordered breakfast to our pod on Sunday morning, hot crossaints, porridge and fresh coffee, which were delicious.
The bathrooms were clean and there was no issue accessing them. They are up a small hill and whilst there is low lighting, take a torch or headtorch with you, incase you need to make a trip in the night. 😂 There were camp chairs and a picnic bench at each pod, which were lovely for sitting out for dinner etc between rain showers.
The staff we met were all super friendly and helpful. Lovely stay, would definitely visit again.

went for weekend on 12th February, absolutely loved it.Nicole and Iain couldn't have been more helpful . On arrival you could buy kindlers , marshmallows, firelighters etc from their shed property , if we wanted anything we just asked. Pods were delightful, a bed and small heater which kept it very cosy ( did take a hit water bottle just incase which I heated with kettle on stove ) Shower rooms were immaculate , just remember to bring a torch for the middle of the night visit . Snug room available with games/ books etc but closed at time with restrictions. Towels and a toilet roll was in pod and camping chairs outside . Ballater just a short run away along with Braemer . Booked again for Easter and can't wait , 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The host is very helpful and accommodating. The pod was clean and cosy. The fire pit and chairs are fantastic. The toilet and shower block is clean and well organised. There are two rooms which each have a shower, toilet, sink, mirror and radiator. It is in a great location with the pods looking onto the river. It was very peaceful.

We stayed for 1 night in September in a standard glamping pod and had an amazing time! The area is beautiful and quiet, and the staff were very friendly. The toilets/showers were very clean with hot running water, and there was even another place to wash up dishes and make tea. The pod was lovely with a comfy bed, a small heater, and space to put bags / hang things up. The fire pit outside was great, as were the chairs and picnic bench, and we managed to get a BBQ going even with a bit of drizzly rain.

We had a fantastic time and would love to stay again!

This was a lovely place to stay! Very comfortable, warm and clearly a lot of thought had gone into the communal areas- I can't think of anything you might want that wasn't there. There was plenty to do and places to eat nearby, and we weren't short of things to do despite the miserable January weather. Thanks for a lovely stay, we'll definitely be back soon!

We stayed at the Howe of Torbeg for 1 night in September in a standard glamping pod. We had a brilliant time here, it was such a fantastic glamping experience! We arrived quite early so we were able to go for a lovely walk around the area, following recommendations from the owner - we absolutely loved the area, it was so peaceful and picturesque.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The pod itself was lovely, it was the perfect size for the two of us. There is an electric heater in the pod which meant no matter how cold it was outside, it was always lovely and toasty inside :). The fire pit, chairs and bench were great, we braved the chilly weather for a bbq just outside the pod, we loved being able to unwind whilst taking in the beautiful view facing us.

The amenities were fantastic, the toilets and showers were spotless and everything was regularly sanitised. We thought the tea shack was a great touch - really handy for a hot drink in the morning!

We would definitely recommend Howe of Torbeg to others, and we will certainly be returning as soon as we get chance - cannot wait to visit again!

We had 2 nights in the Juniper Shepherds hut which is totally off grid and lit by solar lights. The hut has a lovely wee fire burner which keep it very cosy. All items you may need are provided such as outdoor chairs, picnic equipment, guides etc.
The washrooms are kept exceptionally clean and we never had to queue for a shower, loo etc.
We enjoyed our couple of nights and would return at some stage for some real peace & quiet.

A beautiful place to stay. The host welcomed me at check-in and mad sure I had everything I needed. The location is perfect for touring the Cairngorms and taking in the stunning scenery. The hut itself was beautifully presented and there was the added benefit of a 'tea hut' for drinks and a communal cabin for warm evenings. All the facilities and the wash rooms were immaculate. I enjoyed a couple of nights there and would have loved to have stayed longer - next time eh...!!

We had a lovely stay in the Shepherds Hut, so we’ll crafted to fit 2 adults and 2 children. The stove was super and cosy. We had use of the Snug on site, again a fabulous space. Toilets and showers so clean. Nicole was so welcoming and helpful, it’s a great site and perfectly located for exploring Ballater. We had the breakfast pack - a lovely touch to offer guests, beautifully presented and tasted amazing! 10/10, couldn’t fault anything!

The views and location is unbeatable. Car park was close and had enough room for the number of guests staying. The pods were clean and had plenty of room. The bathroom facilities were better than some hotels and kept to top standard. The views and location is unbeatable. Car park was close and had enough room for the number of guests staying. It would be great if the pods had an extra 1 or 2 power sockets and maybe an extra teabag or two for the tea drinkers.

Answer from Nicole G
Hi Judith, there isn't any wifi as we have data limited satellite internet due to our rural location; some guests get mobile data/signal, some don't, it seems to be hit & miss. We have a landline in the office for emergencies if needed though 👍
